My first impression of Dr. Ledgerwood was that she was a very honest and stern surgeon. She answered all of my questions very honestly and she didnt seem to hold back so not scare me. She explained the risks of the surgery as well as the up side. In my opinion if you are honest her with she will be honest with you. I liked that she was a little older and had been a surgeon for awhile. Overall I was very happy with the consult with her.
I really didn't seee much of Dr. Legerwood before my surgery I saw her associate Dr. Lucas most of the time in the OR before they put me under and I didn't see her until the day I was released in the hospital. Her associate Dr. Lucas is a great surgeon to I would recommend them to anyone having this surgery. They are very knowledgeable and have a pretty good bed side manner, just a little to quick LOL. But overall great.

My first impression of Dr Lederwood was on of a seasoned surgeon who didn't tell you anything but the truth about the surgery. I do wish she would have explained about complications such as sepsis. I developed this after two days of telling the doctors there was a leak, and I could feel the ice chips I was eating running out of my pouch.

One of the things I didn't like about the doctor was she didn't explain what to eat in any detail and the last time I was there she just said come back in 3 months for a check up.

Her staff (Celeste) has been so patient with me and all of my calls. She was great.

These things are my personal experiences and you may not experience anything like these personal experiences of mine.

After my consultation with Dr. Ledgerwood, my husband and I both left her office saying "I like her a lot!" She's a tough lady and if she doesn't think you can handle the life-style change, she will not accept you as a patient. You cannot be over 400 lbs and she expects her patients to walk 2 miles a day for 2 months before the surgery. Smokers have to quit 2 months prior to surgery. She is completely straight-forward about the risks of the surgery. She doesn't sugar-coat anything! She stated that when she is finished with surgery, she wakes you up to help get yourself back on the gurney to go back to your room. She does not use a catheter; if you have to go, you have to get up!

Her office staff seems competent enough. The wait to get a surgery date was a little frustrating. It was about 5 weeks from the time insurance was approved to the time the date was set. Her insurance person, Cynthia, is excellent!

I'll update my opinions after surgery.

Dr. Ledgerwood was wonderful at my consultation. She was very frank (which I needed) and she gave me no sugar coted answers. I was very comfortable while talking to her and she made me feel like this decision was all mine and did not steer me in any way but to agree or not to do surgery on me.

She did not mention an after care program and I did not ask. She did however explain the risks to the point.

I will add to this after surgery.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT MY OVER ALL IMPRESSION OF DR.LEDGERWOOD WAS GOOD SHE WAS VERY TO THE POINT AND FORWARD ABOUT THE RISKS. I SPOKEWITH HER SECRATARY QUITE OFTEN WHO WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL.THE INSURANCE REFERRAL GIRL WAS GREAT ALSO CYNTHIA , SHE GOT ME APPROVED IN NO TIME. THE PEOPLE IN THE HOSPITAL WERE GREAT. I THINK THAT IF SHE COULD CHANGE ANYTHING IT WOULD BE HAVING AN AFTERCARE PROGRAM IN PLACE. THERE ISNT ANY TRAINING OR SUPPORT AFTER THE SURGERY. I WOULD RATE HER HIGHLY BECAUSE SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST SURGEONS FOR WLS IN THE COUNTRY. ALL OF THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITAL TOLD ME THAT HER PATIENTS RECOVER AND HAVE A BETTER SUCCESS RATE THAN ANY OTHER SURGICAL PATIENTS AT THAT HOSPITAL. HER SURGICAL COMPITANCE IS BY FAR THE BEST. I HAD A QUICK AND GREAT RECOVERY. I AM THANKFUL TO HER FOR SAVING MY LIFE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR., DR.DANIEL PANUSH FOR HELPING ME GET MY LIFE BACK ON TRACK.HE WAS GREAT ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT HE HAD TO DO.

I really like her.

The office staff was very kind.

Dr Ledgerwood is very serious about the surgery and doesn't mince words about the negitives of having the surgery and will not do the surgery if you don't qualify... must be below 400# and be able to walk 2 miles a day.

The thing I like least about her...that she will not do my surgery until I am below 400# and able to walk 2 miles a day. lol not really

She took her time,explained everything,answered all my questions,was caring,honest,straight forward,doesn't mince words.
Every time I saw her,she always had time to sit and listen and answered questions, was always there for me.
My impression never changed,,,she saved my life.
Her office staff were wonderful.Always there to help if needed.
I was very happy with her.
Future patients should know that she is there to help them, but like I said she is very frank!
I lived to far away to go to the aftercare program. But Dr,Ledgerwood always, had advice on what to do if I was having problems with food or anything.I saw her for almost a year after the surgery.
She tells you right off that people have died from this surgery and all the risks. She also tells you the things that you need to do before surgery, and if you can't do this, then you can't have the surgery. The main one was walking 2 miles in a whole day,You don't have to do it all at once,,,do it all through the whole day.
I would rate her 10
both great!
