Great surgeon, but there was no after care and office made no update calls to see how patient was. This is sad :(

Dr. Nohr is an amazing surgeon. I had my Laproscopic RNY back in 2008 & have never regretted a single moment. Some people have referred to his bedside manner as dry, but I honestly took it as professional. Throughout all my follow up visits, he was kind, courteous & always made sure to address any of my concerns. There is a bit lacking in post-operative support. It may have changed since my surgery, but at the time, you were given one consult with a nutritionist & then were on your own from there.

If you are considering surgery or are post-op & having trouble, feel free to message me! I have been very successful with the surgery over the past 5 years & would love to help anyone who needs it!

Wonderful technique, kind understanding bedside manner. Only critisism I have could be related to information and after care support groups.

I had RNY surgery with Dr. Nohr in 2004. It was one of the best choices I have ever made in my life. It was scary and a long road to get there but would not change it for the world. I was 453lbs 5'7" tall the mother of 5 and 28 years old. I lost 297lbs and got down to 156 lbs. Dr Nohr and his staff are amazing. I had one small complication and it was my own fault, I tried eating a piece of fresh bread very soon after I started solid type food and it got stuck. I had to go to Brooks to the hospital there as I am from Calgary and the doctors here could not help me. Had a small surgery just to open the passage up a little and never had another surgical issue after that. had my apron skin done just about a year after the first surgery and it went wonderfully as well. Dr. Nohr is truly a great doctor and as long as you do your research and go in prepared you will have no problems at all.

I met Doctor Nohr over 5.5 years ago. He performed my surgery in October 2008 and it was the best thing ever and Dr Nohr was AWESOME. He was there the whole way and after the surgery when I had a few issues with eating he got me and did what he needed to do and I never had to wait. A million Thank yous Dr Nohr... you have forever changed my life.

I found Dr. Nohr to be a very soft spoken, articulate Doctor. My first impression never changed: He was there to help me, and made sure that I knew everything I needed to know before going in for the surgery. I definitely believe that surgical competence is more important than bedside manner! I do wish that there was a few more nutrition classes that you could take AFTER the surgery, but there is not. I was originally booked in for my consultation in April of 2013! I asked to be put on the cancellation list, and VOILA! I got in 13 months early! March of 2012! Then at that appointment I was booked for July 2013 to have the surgery done! Once again, I asked to be put on the cancellation list, and once again, VOILA!! I got a call on May.31st/2012 and the receptionist asked if I would be able to be booked in for JUNE.4TH!!!! 5 DAYS LATER!!! I HIGHLY recommend being put on the cancellation list, because your chances of getting in early are pretty good! It also helps that I live right in Medicine Hat and a stay at home mom, so I was able to drop everything, arrange child care and have my surgery. I realize that not everyone would be able to accept only 5 days notice, but I'm a super lucky lady, apparently! The call was on Thursday, and I had my surgery on Monday.

I had my surgery laparoscopically, and I definitely made the right choice! Dr. Nohr explained to me open vs lap, and lap was definitely the way to go for me! When I came to, I was expecting an ng tube, a stomach drain, etc. But I had NOTHING other than oxygen! I was home on Friday!

It turns out that I developed a stricture, and I have had to be dilated twice already, and probably will have it again in November. When I was put in hospital for pancreatitis, Dr. Nohr was immediately informed of my stomach troubles, and he immediately had g-scope done on me. Turns out I had food stuck!

I have an appointment with Dr. Nohr at the end of October, because he wants to see how I'm doing as far as the stricture is concerned. I will update at that time!

Overall, I would say that Dr. Nohr is an excellent surgeon, and I am very happy that I was (still am) in such good hands!

Was told by a friend that his bedside manner was not optimum so wasn't expecting the kind of care and consideration this doctor showed. Would recommend him to anyone as he clearly knows his stuff. He has great administrative assistants and nutrition team that are extremely knowlegable and helpful
