Dr. Nohr and his staff were very professional and friendly. I think I only saw Dr. Nohr for a total of 30 minutes ( 15 minutes on presugery appointment and 15 minutes in hospital after surgery) But even with this short of time I felt very secure in the knowledge that I made the correct choice.
Dr. Nohr does not offer a aftercare program for his out of town patient but my personal physian is looking after me just great.
Overall, Dr. Nohr was great and I would recommend him to anyone who is responsible enough to do their own research and aftercare program.
When I arrived at Dr Nohr's office for my consult, I was a nervous wreck. I felt like my stomach was filled with butterflies. It wasn't until he opened the door to the exam room that all my nervousness went away. Dr Nohr is a very honest and up front surgeon. He tells you exactly how you got to the way you are. He explained that the surgery isn't a miracle cure for obesity, rather that it's a tool and it's up to you how you work it. He explained the risks involved with the surgery. He asked if my husband or I had any questions, and as I looked through my little notebook I was putting check marks on all the questions he had answered without me even having to ask. I think I only had about 2 questions that I needed to ask. Prior to surgery (actually it's to be prior to your consult) you attend nutrition classes put on by a dietician at the hospital.
I feel very confident in Dr Nohr performing my surgery. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
An amazing, thorough surgeon. Will answer any and all your questions but does not give you much for pre-op or post-op information, unless you ask and know the questions to ask.
Dr. nohr was a very nice man who spoke very quiet but answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease. His secretary was also very helpful. I always felt like I was in good hands. 6 months after my surgery I lost 150 lbs. I became a new person. I felt better, looked better and had for the first time in my life a positive outlook on my life. What Dr. Nohr and this surgery gave me was a happy and healthy life. I now have a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful children. I owe it all to Dr. Nohr for helping me realize that I could do something to change and greatly improve my life. Its been almost 6 years since my surgery and life is good. Kimberly Rose (Ziebart).
Dr. Nohr was very kind. He answered any questions i had, and also told me how to find more answers to any more questions i may think up (he recommended the book Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies--which is brilliant IMO, and also recommended going online for answers). Not much pre or post op info was volunteered, i think he expects us to get that info ourselves, he said no man can tell you all the info you can find on the internet, and this site is proving that to be incredibly true!rnrnMichelle, the secretary, is very nice. She is kind and very helpful, putting me at ease right away, as i was very nervous when i arrived!
He seems very nice,though did not get lots of info on what to do before or after surgery. He does not offer aftercare for patients out of the province. You have to find your own.
Dr. Nohr is a brilliant surgeon. My surgery went very well and was over in less than 2 hours for the open RNY and gallbladder removal. He does not say much but answered any questions I had. His staff is very helpful and has been there to find answers to any questions I have post-op, even though he was out of the office, his staff contacted him by email to get an answer I needed. Aftercare is completely up to me. I saw a dietician and a social worker in the hospital that talked about the aftercare too. I would rate Dr.Nohr a 10 out of 10. I always believe surgical skill trumps bedside manner. I only saw him in the early mornings each day after surgery....would have been nice to see him more but I am happy with my results.
My first impression of Dr. Nohr is that he was very concerned about my well being. Michelle his secretary is top notch as well, she always had time to answer my questions and return my calls when I left a messege. Dr. Nohr is a very BUSY DR. therefor you should expect a LONG wait to see him. But it will be well worth the time. Dr. NOhr told me all the risks and complications that could arrise and made sure all my questions were answerd. I will update this post-op if aything should change in my opinions on him.
I finally saw Dr. Nohr Jan. 23/07 after waiting over 2 years for the appt. He is a very quiet man, but caring and thoughtful. He answered all of my questions - most before I had a chance to ask!! He is very busy, but did not rush at all. He was direct about the surgery and the risks involved.
