Celio Burrowes Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

On my first consultation, I have found Dr. Burrowes to be very capable of communicating the issues involved with WLS to me and very willing to respond to my questions and concerns. His staff was very helpful and kind. The least favorable thing about it all was the length of the office visit. There was very little down time though. Most of it was spent actively engaged in learning about the surgery and providing them with information about me.

DR. BURROWES IS AT THE ATLANTA MEDICAL CENTER, 285 BOULEVARD, SUITE 515, ATLANTA, GEORGIA. DR. BURROWES, WAS VERY KIND AND SENSITIVE, YET VERY PROFESSIONAL. FIRST OF ALL, HE SPENT A GOOD 45 MINUTES SCETCHING OUT AND EXPLAINING THE 3 DIFFERENT PROCEDURES THAT HE OFFERS AND MAKING SURE THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS IN FOR IF I FOLLOWED THROUGH. BY THE TIME WE FINISHED WITH THE SESSION, I THINK HE REALIZED THAT I HAD TRULY DONE MY HOMEWORK AND THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED WHEN I CAME TO HIS OFFICE. HE TOLD ME THAT HE NEVER SCHEDULES ANY PATIENT FOR SUGERY ON THE FIRST VISIT (CONSULTATION).. . . DR. BURROWES STAFF, MARILYN, KATHERINE, AND MONICA ARE JUST WONDERFUL. THEY ARE REAL PEOPLE. THEY ARE KIND AND VERY HELPFUL. THEY DON'T TREAT YOU LIKE YOU ARE SO KIND OF FREAK. OR SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. I WAS TREATED WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.. . . DR. BURROWES DOES NOT ADVERTISE HIS PRACTICE, BUT PATIENTS COME FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO USE HIM AS THEIR SURGEON. I BELIEVE I UNDERSTAND WHY.

The doctor seemed nice and explained all the different kinds of things that could be done i felt he could have been a little bit warmer.After talking with him a little more my impression changed.
The office staff was slow,but very nice once the were helping you.
The least thing i liked about the process was their reason why you have to pay so much money out of pocket .
The thing i liked the most was happy people who were coming back for check ups.
Over all he is a great doctor.

6?29/01: I have decided to change my surgeon to Dr. Burrowes. I made this decsion because I have spoken to someone I have met on this site that was kind enough to give me her # and we spoke in detail. She suggested that with my ins. (medicare) I would have a better chance and less of a hassle getting approval. She also said he is very a very caring and paitient Dr.and has a great bedside manner and that his staff is wonderful. I will update accrordingly. :)

Hi all! Hope all are doing well...:)I met Dr.Burrowes for the first time yesterday. He seems to be a very nice person and a Dr. who is genuinaly concerned about this very important step you are about take. He expalins in very plain terms that having this surgery is very serious and YOU have to be willing to change your lifestyle and your way of thinking about food FOREVER. He wants you to be sure that this is what you truly want.

My whole experience with Dr. Burrowes, Marilyn, Katherine and Monica has been exactly what I've needed (both pre and post op). I, like most folks, thought I would lose my mind (not to mention my life)while awaiting approval, but the whole Burrowes' gang led me through. I'm so very thankful for a second chance at life.

Dr. Burrowes was very informative and very business minded. I felt that he could have been a little more personal but I was more interested in his surgical skills than his personal touch.
He has been wonderful during aftercare and has shown a very caring side of himslf that I had not seen before. He is very strong in the aftercare department.
I would not change the choice I made in surgeons. He is SUPER.
As for his nurse Katherine, WOW what an asset she is to him. She is a wonderfully caring Christian person and is very gentle with his patients.
The office staff are very busy and sometimes you feel like you are just shuffeled around with the rest of the paperwork but they do deal with an awful lot of people.
Over all my experience with Dr. Burrowes and his staff has been quite pleasant.

I thought Dr.Burrowes was very serious and straight forward. He was good at explaining everything, and he also answered all my questions I had. His office staff was professional, but can be disorganized, slow, and sometimes not so pleasant. I'm not putting the office staff down or Dr.Burrowes.
After searching for several months for a good doctor I came across Dr.Burrowes and only heard very good, and nice things about him and his staff. I also heard he is one of the best for this surgery. As far as coverage. I'm lucky my insurance company will cover my surgery 100%, but not for the 4,000 grand I have to pay before the surgery. Which I thought was very diappointing. To this day I'm still trying to find a way to come up with the money! My overall rating for Dr.Burrowes and his staff is a B-.

My first impression of Dr. Burrowes is that he really takes the time to get to know his patients. His staff was great they took good care of my worries. Dr. Burrowes really wanted his patients to know all the information and also the complications going to surgery. I in the best of hands with Dr. Burrowes.
