Christian Tvetenstrand Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

i have not met my surgeon yet. I have gone to the initially meeting, met with the nutritionist, did the mental evaluations and the sessions with the therapist. Things are progressing slow. I feel my team is thinking this is not for me but they are not communicating that to me. This is becoming a rollercoaster ride with my emotions. I have requested explanation of why my process is being stalled.

I had Dr.Tvetenstrand before he did a herna on me in 1996. My primary told me that is was the doctor and i couldn't ask for a better person. Dr. Tvetenstrand is a straight forward doctor he tells you like it is. He told me what i had to do and it took me along time to get where i am today. Dr. Tvetenstrand nurse Liz and the other one are great when i asked for something or call for my appts they on top of things. I go to his office every 3 months until after Feburary i will go to his office every 6 months for my check up. What every questions you ask him he will answer you turthfully. He cares about his patients alot. Dr. Tvetenstrand told me the risk of the surgry like my primary doctor and and it was risky to have the surgery but i did it because i wanted to and i really need to. Dr. Tvetenstrand is an excellent doctor i would go to him anytime when i have to.

Well so much has changed!! Dr. T did my surgery January, 22, 2004. I have lost 132lbs to date =))))
At my first appt I thought- I was rushed, but I had already know alot of the info becuase of the hours & hours of research I had done! I wasn't sure if I was getting myself in with the right dr.
My impression changed with my care I had received! He is a genuine & caring person.
His staff- EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!! They have helped me through all aspects...from referrals to insurance approval..and the million questions I must have asked.
I liked least-not a support group of Dr's & nutrionists, therapist that work together as one unit- I think a structured aftercare & support group vould help alot.
Furture patients should know you are in EXCELLENT hands.
Aftercare- I went there almost everyday for 3 months for them to look after me, due to my incision opening 3 times. they changed my gauze daily, to help the healing go faster.
There is not a structured aftercare program...but I did that myself. I am currently following up with a nutrionist, therapist and my primary care dr's.
He addressed the risks by taking with me thouroughly...and when he did the surgery after being inside my body he told my husband & mother if I didn't have the surgery i would have died within the year due to my enlarged liver...my insides were a mess!
Overall- Kudos to him and his staff for taking the best care of me!!!
His surgical competence is the best & his bedside manner as well...4 stars all the way!!!

My first impression of Dr. T was that he was personably and compassionate. The office staff was great, always answered my questions or got back to me in a timely manner. What I really like is that there isn't a huge protocol that has to be followed as far as counseling, but that may vary from patient to patient. He emphesized that this surgery was a tool, not a cure, and that I would need to make a life style change. More to come I get further along!!

Dr. T really takes the time to explain everything to you. He explained the risks for this surgery in detail and waited for me to ask questions. He has a gentle nature and a calmness about him. He is also a trauma doctor which makes me feel more confident. His office staff were great!! they really have to deal with alot of junk when dealing with insurance companys.

Wonderful man. He has been great at explaining all things to me. I have other friends that have had him as their surgeon and they thought he did a wonderful job. I will report more after my Surgery.

Dr. T. was wonderful. He came to see me everyday in the hospital and 3 out of the 4 days he came to see me twice a day. He has great bedside manners. I would definitely reccomend Dr. Tvetenstrand to others. Not only does he have great ability at gastric bypass surgery. He is highly reccomeded for other types of surgeries as well.

My first impression with Dr Tvetenstrand was that he was a caring and concerned man. He was very busy and my first consult was very quick. My next visit was a bit longer and he answered all the questions that I had. He was very supportive and encouraging. His bedside manner was wonderful. He was very good at listening to what I had to say. Unfortuneately, he doesn't really have a structured aftercare program or support system. I went to a registered dietician on my own because he doesn't have one. As a surgeon he is tops. His office staff is not as efficient. It was hard to get return calls because they were so busy. I realy felt that they were not as concerned regarding the well being of the patient as the doctor was. Overall, my experience with Dr T was a positive one and I would reccomend him to someone considering the RNY (open or lap).
