Dr. Dyas came highly recommended from a co-worker. She said he's EXTREMELY thorough and the hospital staff treated her differently when they found out he was her surgeon. She said they commented "Oh, you're Dr. Dyas' patient!" and then then they took their time to do things just right. Apparently, he is tough on them and I like that!
December 22, 2002 - I just got home from the hospital a few days ago and everything went well. Dr. Dyas is a great surgeon and I will highly recommend him to anyone who's considering this surgery. I have had NO complications so far.
January 17, 2004 - I'm now 13 months post-op and I've continued to go in for routine follow-ups with Dr. Dyas. Still no complications. He said he wants to see me every 3 months for up to 2 years post-op or until I've had two consecutive visits with no weight loss...which ever comes first. I still highly recommend him.

My first impression of my surgeon was very nice. He is a very outspoken which is nice and to the point. My impression of him overtime only got better. I feel like I can really trust him. His office staff is very kind and willing to do anything to help you.
I don't have anything that I don't like about him. Future patients should know that they will feel comfortable working with Dr. Dyas and also that he knows what he is doing. He is very confindent when he speaks. With this being my first surgery I am sure all of them are to the point. He is very to the point about aftercare. He has a certain program for you to stick to and of course you do. He told us about every risk, I guess you don't know all of yours until you do it. I would rate him overall a 9 out of a 10 scale. Of course I will see after surgery.

From the first moment I met him I liked him and I still like him. His office staff is very friendly. He is good about getting you in and out on time. He does not make you wait in his office forever like most doctors. He has a real strict diet for after surgery. He is real strict about it. He went over all the risk of surgery and made sure I was doing this for myself and not for someone else. He is the greatest doctor I have ever been to. I would and did trust him with my life.

My first impression of Dr. Dyas was great. He had a very good bedside manner and was very informative. I really did not have to ask very many questions because he answered most of them just listening to him. His office staff was wonderful and very easy to talk to and work with. I would highly recommend Dr. Dyas to anyone looking for a great surgeon.

8/20/03 - I met Dr. Dyas today. I am impressed with his knowledge. He is cheerful, and did a thorough job of explaining everything. I was extremely nervous, although I don't know why. He was able to set my mind at ease about the surgery. I feel like I got a good understanding of the procedure he will be performing, and I got the impression that he is VERY careful. I was glad he referred me to this site. His staff were also nice. He stressed aftercare, saying that he and I will be together for another two years! He went over the risks of surgery and possible complications, gave me statistics, both for him personally, as well as for all of these types of surgeries. I'll take surgical competence over bedside manner any day, although he appears to have both. My primary physician, Dr. Greg McKelvey, referred me to him (after my inquiry about WLS). Dr. McKelvey is top drawer, so I knew if Dr. McKelvey recommended Dr. Dyas, that Dr. Dyas is a competent surgeon.

9/3/03 - Met with Dr. Dyas for a follow-up. dr. Dyas Reviewed my two week food diary. Keeping this diary was an education, and something I had never before done. I never realized just how poorly I have been eating. Denise, Dr. Dyas's insurance person, has been very helpful over the phone in answering my questions. Also, there is a dark haired lady there who weighs folks, and she is very encouraging to GB patients.

11/17/03 - Dr. Dyas performed my GB on this date. I was discharged 3 days later, and I'm having no problems at all, no nausea, etc. I'm following the suggested eating and drinking fluids to the letter. After the whole experience, as well as evaluating all the information I learned in the hospital, I think that Dr. Dyas is the best GB surgeon in the area (my honest opinion - which, before the surgery, I just felt that he was one of the best, now, I know he's THE best!) I'm very fortunate to have been referred to him. I believe is extremely careful about his patients, and there are a lot of little things that are distinctive about the way he does things, that to me, make him outstanding. He has always been great about answering any of my questions! Although he does seem a little rushed at times, he always slows down to make sure I understand his instructions, and he does not rush through any questions I have. And he will repeat things if you don't understand. All you have to do is ask, and as silly as I've thought some of my questions have been, he never treated me as though he thought they were. So, I highly, highly recommend him. He is definitely a very competent and concientious professional.

Saw Dr. Dyas friday and was very pleased with him all together. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Dr. Dyas seems to have a wonderful bedside manner and good sense of humor. He is very complete and wants this surgery to work the best it can for all his patients. I was informed of the risk and outcomes. So far I am very pleased with him.

Dr. Dyas is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He takes his time and explains all areas of the surgery and he also takes interest in you eating habits to determine what's best for his patients. The office staff is great they are friendly and very helpful. If you have any questions or concerns about having this surgery please contact his office and schedule a consultation. He will meet you and explain everything in detail. After you have surgery he gives you details on what to eat, he stresses that you walk daily. In the hospital you will walk every 4 hours. When you get home I suggest walking at least twice a day. Because this is you health and the excercise made me feel alot better. His beside manner was funny, he made me smile and feel good about my future results. He a 10+ in my rating God Bless

I had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Dyas. Of course on my first visit I was nervous so I asked my mother to go with me. She was as equally impressed as I was at how thorough he was in answering all my questions and explaining all the risks involved in the surgery. I would recommend Dr. Dyas to anyone who is considering having RNY surgery. In fact, my twin sister is in the final stages of waiting to be precertified for the RNY surgery and if all goes well for both of us my brother and possibly my mother are considering it too. Dr. Dyas is an excellent doctor with an outstanding staff. I give him a 5*****star rating.
