My first impression of Doctor Vulpe was that he was very professional and attentive. He is caring and funny and explained every step of the surgery. I love the fact that he is knowledgeable but also has a nice bedside manner. If anyone is looking for a program that will help you from beginning to end, this is it. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would rate this program as excellent.

My first impression of Dr. Vulpe was that he is very funny! I felt very comfortable and he explained the procedure to me. That made it so that I wasn't nervous afterwards. He is very easy to talk to and he listens and answered all my questions and concerns. All the staff are very nice and I would definitely recommend this office to anyone. Yes, the risks of the surgery were reviewed with me. I also want to say that Karen Sander, the Bariatric Coordinator, is and was very helpful. She is also very pleasant to talk to.

When I was referred to come to this office I was very nervous. Right away I was made to feel comfortable and at ease because I was given a vast amount of information. Dr. Vulpe took the time to sit in on my first meeting with Karen. During the time of getting prepared for surgery (almost 1 year) Dr. Vulpe's office worked well with my primary doctor which I welcomed and liked. This program is great because it guides you through the whole process to keep you well informed. This office is a very positive and welcoming environment. During my journey through this I had changed my mind of which procedure I wanted to have done. Dr. Vulpe was very understanding and took his time to listen. Together we came to agree that my second choice was best for me. My hospital stay was more than I expected and the staff was just as dedicated as Dr. Vulpe and his team. The after care and concerns of their patient is just as important as getting the patient to the surgery. I am very happy and satisfied with the whole patient care I have received. I am greatful to have found this center and Dr. Vulpe.

I found Dr. Vulpe off my insurance website and I couldn't be happier I did. My first impression of him was that he was sweet but busy. I wasn't too sure that I would enjoy this because I didn't want a surgeon who wouldnt have time to help me when I needed it but I later found out this was not the case. However, his staff, especially Karen, for my first impression, was the complete opposite. I felt that they were taking the time out to make sure I felt completely comfortable with every decision I was making.
I chose Lisa Lobel (who is part of Dr. Vulpe's team) as my nutritionist and she was very nice. She was very informative and to this day I still feel like she actively listens to you when you speak and takes everything you say into consideration.
Dr. Mahoney, the psychologist on the team is a little, for the sake of a better term, obstinate. For a psychologist, he didnt seem to care about the feelings of the people he addressed. I would never say he was nasty but he came off very cold and quite often cut people off when they were speaking during support group meetings and so forth. Even when I was in the hospital, I met a couple of other patients whose opinions of Dr. Mahoney werent so different from mine.
Back to Dr. Vulpe though. Once completing all the required medical tests, Dr. Vulpe sits down with you and discusses the surgery itself. We went over risks, benefits, procedures, etc. I entered the hospital on a Monday to have gastric bypass surgery. Normally, patients are out of the hospital in about 2 to 3 days but of course I had to be difficult. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. Fortunately, I had Dr. Vulpe as my surgeon because he was so concerned he came to see me EVERYDAY and he also did great work on me. I caught a stomach virus or something along those lines during my stay and even though I had just had surgery on my stomach, Dr. Vulpe's work was so secure that I was still able to recover without needing additional surgery or anything else. Dr. Vulpe not only listed to my concerns in the hospital, he addressed them personally most of the time. I have very difficult veins and he actually gave me an IV at one point. He got me a recliner to sleep in because I couldnt sleep in the bed. This was my first hospital stay and to be genuinely honest, it wasnt all that bad because of Dr. Vulpe. I paged him once throughout the whole stay and he sent someone to me right away even though he was in surgery.
I go to Dr. Vulpe's office now and he puts a smile on my face. I trust him so much and I know he is always honest and caring. I couldnt have asked for a better doctor.
As for Aftercare, he does emphasize that you see the nutritionist and then follow up with him. I am 4 months post-op (down 90lbs btw) and I have seen him 3 times. There are support groups twice a month which are not a requirement but an option.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Vulpe as a 10/10 and I would go higher if I could. His surgical competence and bedside manner are unmatched and are both equally invaluable.

Thank you so much to Dr. Vulpe and his team for changing my life!

I can say this whole heartedly, I love my surgeon. He performed surgery on my husband and now its my turn. He is honest and he dots his I's and crosses his T's. Office staff as in all places some people are iffy but generally really nice people and helpful. He is great very thorough and likes to take the time to answer your questions. When my husband had his surgery he was on him like white on rice. lol. He was very attentive making sure that he was ok and that everything was going well. I am sure that he is going to do the same for me and I feel confidant that everything is going to be fine. My surgery will be Aug 20th 2010. Wish me luck
