First Impression: Very professional, no nonsense, very competent. Dry sense of humor.rnrnOffice Staff: Helpful, competent.rnrnFuture patients: He tells it like it is. What to expect before, during and after surgery.rnrnEmphasizes Aftercare: Very much so.rnrnStructured Aftercare program: Support groups, pre and post surgery. Nutritionist on staff to help pre and post surgery questions.rnrnRisks of Surgery: Very informative both in pre-surgery seminars and pre-surgery office visits. Answered all questions that I could think of.rnrnOverall Rating: A+++ I am very happy with the care and help he has given me. As a side note, my wife needed hernia surgery and was very comfortable having him complete the procedure due to the care I have received from him and his staff.rnrnWhich is better: Surgical competence and bedside manner were both great.

Briefly, I had WLS done 35 years ago. As it was so long ago, I did not remember which WLS had been performed on me. And I have no insurance for revision surgery. The initial upper GI done by another physician was not revealing.rnI was very impressed with Dr. Fang's ability to do his own investigation by doing the endoscopy himself. He was good at helping us understand what he was seeing and what he thought the appropriate plan of action should be. He was good at letting me know what consequences to expect. He struck me as capable and responsive.rnWhen I first saw him, his front desk personnel was having problems giving sufficient attention to those of us who were nervous or didn't know the protocol. The phone was too often left on answering machine. However, the old front office staff are gone and the new ones are a definite improvement. The women working with scheduling and insurance and payments are excellent and very good at getting back to you.rnrnI used the bridgesaz.com care program available at St. Lukes Medical Center in Phoenix. They offer a pre and post op program/classes. They are very helpful with telling you what steps you need to take to get your insurance approval, steps you can take to make your surgery and weight loss more successful, and have many resourcesavailable - dietician, several psychologists, a physical rehab speaker, references for surgeons who help you deal with the hanging skin after great weight loss. I found the preparation to be very useful. It hasn't been long enough for me to give an accurate opinion, so more later.rnrnI would rate Dr. Fang as a ten in surgeon choice. rnIf askd last month, I would have given his office the low rating of four. Since he made the front office staffing changes, that four rating has risen to a nine.rnThree cheers for Dr. Fang!!!

My first impression of Dr. Fang was positive. He was calm and quiet. He was knowledgable, informative and pleasant. rnrnHis office staff is somewhat unorganized. The front desk receptionist is very unaproachable and unconcerned, made me feel like I was bothering her to be there. But, on the positive side, Kolleen in prior-auth. is very attentive and follows through. She is pleasant and professional. I appreciated her responses to me. She was one of the people who made this experience very positive for me.rnrnI would love to have both aspects of surgical competence and bedside manner in the surgeon I choose, but if I had to choose one it would be competence! I believe Dr. Fang to have both. I rate him and his Physician's assistant 10/10!!!

Dr. Fang is very quiet. His office staff was very unorganized and never returned phone calls, but that is something they are working on now. He has both surgical competence and bedside manner which are both very important. I give him a 10/10. I give the office staff a 5/10.

Dr. Fang was very nice, calm, easy going, always smiling, good listener.rnrnStaff has been very helpful and friendly. They have alot on their plate however, and I was very proactive in contacting them for info and surgery dates. It could take some time if I had waited to hear from them. rnrnHe will ask you first thing if you have any questions. Have your list ready.rnrn

Dr. Fang is a God send, he was for me anyway. I have a lot of health risks. My PC was even shocked that he took me. From day one I just knew if I could get this surgery it would give me my life back. Thats all I wanted, was to have my life back. I am a single mother of four children. I missed so many games, awards dinners because I was in the hospital 3 weeks out of every month for the whole last year. At times it was hard for me to attend all the required classes and the phyic eval. But I made everyone one, no matter how short of breath I got. Dr Fang made me feel very confident about the surgery. Even though we both knew what a big risk it was going to be. He told me I would maybe come out on a ventilator, life support system. I knew I had to come out ok for I still have kids to raise. So with all the prayers and my determination, and having Dr Fang performing my surgery. I came out of surgery on my nasal cpap unit, I knew we made it. I had surgery on Tuesday, went home on Friday, went to a baby shower on saturday and a week later I was camping and riding along in a boat. My surgery was March 20th and I am down 70 pounds and I feel like a new person. Dr Fang gave me my life back.

Post Surgery: Dr Fang is a fantastic Dr. While he is quiet he is very personal. He was great when he broke the news to me about my cyst and immediately made sure I was set up with the right surgeon. Once i had my surgery, he took me back and he was great through my RYN and my post op so far. rnrnPre Surgery: While I haven't had the surgery yet, coming up on November 28th, Dr Fang has a great way of making you feel comfortable and answers all questions. He is the first to bring up the questions you want to know (including the scary death ones) so you feel he is not hiding anything. I'll update after surgery and let you know how that goes.
