Dr Buchin and his staff are all wonderful people. I have been going to his office for 6 months now and I feel like they are all family. Anytime I have a care or a concern they are always there to help. Dr. Buchin is a wonderful doctor who takes the time to get to know all of his patients.
He offers a great support group for his patients before and after surgery. ( he and his staff all attend)
If you are thinking about bariatric surgery I highly recommend Dr. Buchin. You will know from the moment you walk threw his doors that you are in good hands.

I have to honestly say of all doctors I have seen whether PCP or surgeons, Dr. Buchin has been the absolute best as well as the PA Sophie. The office staff is amazing. The fact I can walk in and the staff knows me by name is so awesome. I had my gallbladder removed by the same surgeon who did my band and when he saw me he said I looked familiar. I never saw him after the surgery and his PA said I had psychological problems preventing me from losing weight.

Dr. Buchin and Sophie both came to see me everyday I was in the hospital and that really made me feel comfortable and that they truly cared. The office staff, Helene and Karla were so great with getting me approved for surgery. In the beginning of my journey I was not very motivated to lose any preop weight but after seeing how they treat each patient individually and care about my progress, that definitely made me feel a lot more motivated and the motivation carried out until post-op. I can't wait for my 2 week visit so that I can wow them with my progress and really make them proud.

I have to say I was skeptical. I read some reviews here and some people were concerned that Dr. Buchin was a young doctor. Being a medical student myself, I asked myself would it be fair for someone to judge me based on the fact that I was a young doctor so I decided to make my appointment. I have never been happier with a health care provider. If I could make Dr. Buchin my doctor for everything I would. I plan to continue to go to support group and keep up with the office for years to come. They make you feel like family. Anyone who is looking for a surgeon, this is where you want to be. He is up to date on all the latest techniques.

I am receiving the patient grant from OH, Dr. David Buchin and Huntington Hospital and I cannot believe my luck that not only am I receiving the gift of a free bariatric surgery but I get it have it done by such a great doctor. I am still pre-op but I had the pleasure Dr. Buchin, and his entire team and I couldn't stop smiling. They seem like such a great group of people. I was at an OH event and had so many of his previous patients come up to me and tell me how much they loved him and lucky I am to now be a patient of his. I feel very comfortable in his hands and cannot wait to start the journey.

I had been thinking of bariatric surgery for over one year. Fear and lack of confidence kept me from taking action. My Internist and Endocrinologist raised a greater fear that I would soon face health concerns due to my eating habits, weight, and lack of activity. My daily feeling was sick and tired.

A surgeon was recommended to me and I attended the introduction meeting including a follow up. I was not convinced surgery was for me. I saw an add in the paper for Dr. Buchin's introduction/ support group meeting. The minute I walked into the room..I knew he was the surgeon for me. Dr. B., Sophia, Karla, and Helene were so welcoming. I knew I found my home and I knew with their support that I would be successful.

I wasn't sure what surgery was right for me. Dr. B helped me make the decision based on my eating habits, lifestyle, and attitude. I had lapband surgery on April 13th. To date, I lost 70 lbs and feel like a healthier person. I continue to attend all the support groups, view and participate in our online support, and meet with the office once per month.

Dr. Buchin and Sophia are my saviors. I made the best decision I needed to make for ME and they continue to guide and support me to ensure that I continue my successful journey. I will be forever greatful for them and the tools they provide me. I hope to "pay it forward" and help other people make this important life saving decision.

Dr. Buchin and his team are the best. I'm a pretty picky person especially when it comes to my health and well being and I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Buchin, Sophia, and his office. They are on top of everything, kind, patient, and most of all they know what they're doing. I would recommend them to anyone.

My first impression of Dr. Buchin was very positive. Dr. Buchin and his staff was very thorough when explaining all that would take place before the surgery, during the surgery and after the surgery. I am now 3 months post op. And so far everything is VERY GOOD!

Putting Dr. Buchin aside for the moment, I would like add that he has a fantastic team. His staff is the best I have ever come across. They are the cream of the crop.

Thank You to Dr. Dr. Buchin for giving me hope and Thank You to your the staff for always going out of your way for me!

From my first meeting with Dr. Buchin, I knew I was making the right decision, and I was so glad that I had gone to him for help. From moment one, Dr. Buchin and Sophia were there to answer any questions I had along the way. Karla helped me navigate through the insurance maze, and helped me complete all of my pre-surgical testing and appointments. Whenever I had a question, no matter how inconsequential I thought it may be, they were there with an answer or suggestion.

One of the aspects I was most impressed with was how comprehensive Dr. Buchin's before and after care plans were. Not only did I meet with him a few times before the surgery, but I was encouraged and required to see other professionals to address all aspects of this journey, and what it would mean for me. From psychologists to nutritionists, all of support I needed was in place to make this a healthy and successful process.

I am 10 weeks post-op as I write this review, and I couldn't be happier with the results of my surgery and the continued support I receive from Dr. B and his staff.

This is a life changing decision, and I am so thankful that I chose Dr. Buchin.

Even if you are only considering surgery, just beginning your research, or ready to take the next step, contact his office to attend a support group. It will change your life.

I had my LapBand surgery on 10/22/08 with another surgeon. I wish with all my heart that even though it took 5 years of research, I had NOT used the surgeon I had chosen. After the day of my surgery I never saw him again. I had 2 years of fills and unfills by his PA's, restriction and no restriction. I lost a whopping 40 lbs and then regained half back...all the time throwing up and totally miserable. I felt like a total failure. My good friend that also was going through the same thing (with the same surgeon) decided to have VSG surgery with another surgeon. I was curious, but scared to death of another failure. She also had to have her band removed in a separate surgery before he would do the VSG. That was the one thing I was not on board with.
By some miracle, Dr. Buchin contacted her about her experience, and she told me about him. In their discussions, he told her he did the removal of the band and the VSG surgery in one operation. It was as if he was sent to her specifically for me. (At least that's the way I selfishly see it! LOL!)
I attended Dr. B's very next seminar and was hooked! Just the way he spoke to us and answered all the questions...I knew I was in the right place. Yes he was young, but he had 10 years of Bariatric surgery experience and excellent results. His compassion came across in his speaking, and I knew I would be making an appointment as soon as I could.
I had my consultation very quickly after that seminar. I was blown away by this man. He was so caring, compassionate, and took as much time as I could possibly need to go over everything regarding my revision. Even his packets and paperwork were informative and answered every single question one could possibly have. I left that office knowing I was about to start what I call the "second half" of my WLS journey.
I had my revision done on 8/17/11, and with the help of Dr. B and his amazing staff...Sophia, Helene, and Karla...I am doing better than I had ever hoped for!!! I attend their (free) Support Groups, and Dr. B is at every one of them. I publicly want to thank all of them from the bottom of my <3!!!!!

A few years ago, I was invited to go to an informational meeting at a medical offfice in lake success. I met Dr. B and Sophia and that night changed my life. I walked in skeptical to hear what they had to say, and I left ready to get on the operating table. They took the time to explain the options available to me. I also met various people who had the surgery and that put my mind at ease. My whole journey from start to finish was a positive one. I felt that Dr B was knowledgeable yet approachable, and him and Sophia made me feel at ease. By the time I had my surgery and I saw them in scrubs, they were like family to me. I cannot stress enough how much I would recommend Dr B for anyone who is thinking about having weight loss surgery. He has a great bedside manner, but is also a skilled surgeon. I did not have any pain or complications at all!

I am now 5 mos post op, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. This was the best decision I ever made. Dr. Buchin and his staff helped me feel at ease with the entire procedure, from the pre op preparations, surgery to the post op instructions. They have answered all my questions and alleviated all my fears. I tell everyone who asks me about my surgery to go see Dr. Buchin and they will not regret it.
