I couldn't have been more happy with Dr. Coster's practice. I contemplated having gastric for 3 years due to the risks but when my regular dr kept putting me on meds, I knew I had to do something. Dr. Coster did my surgery in July 2008...and tummy tuck in Feb 2010. I wish my insurance company would've approved my other surgeries for removing the skin..they thought it was cosmetic..and it wasn't. But I am VERY pleased. I want to take a trip to Grinnell so show him the progress. I've maintained my weight since surgery. If I had to do it over again, he would be my surgeon. His staff was very knowledgable and very helpful. He addressed all the risks.

I thought Dr. Coster seemed very confident and very experienced and he made me feel very comfortable. He didn't treat me like he was disgusted with me like my PCP.rnI haven't seen him since my consult but I will not allow anyone else in this state to my surgery.

Very impressed by the surgeon and his staff except for the office personnel. Trying to get them to contact the insurance company and to work with my PCP was like pulling teeth.

Well my first impression of the staff and Dr. Coster was fantastic. My husband went with me, and everyone was very polite, corteous, spent lots of time with us, answered all out questions and I was very satisfied.rnrnI am looking to get back on track after gaining some of my weight back. I had open rny in 2001 initially lost 200 lbs have gained 70 back and wanted some advice and not necessaarily having surgery again. rnrnso they scheduled in upper GI to see if my pouch is still functioning and got that scheduled rater quickly, in the mean time I am to write down all my food and beverages and bring it in on my next appt. this ought to be interesting :)rnrnI may just be in need of a Cheerleader and perhaps can get back on track.

Dr. Coster is great with his patients. He made me feel like he was truly interested in helping me achieve my weight loss goals and and providing me with the necessary support in my journey to a healthier lifestyle.rnrnStephanie, Dr. Coster's PA, is also great! She genuinely wants to help all patients succeed and takes time to answer any questions I might have.rnrnUnfortuantely, I didn't see my own doctor in the hospital after my surgery. Another doctor visited me a couple of times though. I felt I was in good hands.rnrnSurgical Associates offers a structured aftercare program including a support group that meets monthly. Several staff take part in the support group and make themselves available to the whole group or on a one-to-one basis.rnrnMy doctor came highly recommended and I can see why. He is the best!!!

Anyone in the Midwest that is considering gastric-bypass surgery needs to think about having Dr. David Coster (Grinnell, IA-East of Des Moines) as their surgeon. The program he and his staff offer is comprehensive from preparing for surgery to living the new post-op lifestyle.rnrnSome people have a low threshold for pain. I have NO threshold for pain. I was very worried about having this surgery due to the many horror stories I'd heard about people that have had repeated complications. He performed my surgery just over 2 weeks ago, and I haven't had ANY difficulties. I firmly believe that the key to a successful surgery lies in finding an excellent surgeon.rnrnI never would have imagined that this transition could be so easy and uneventful. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. David Coster. His office is 160 miles from where I live. I'm here to tell you that my time and gas money was well spent.

I instantly liked Dr. Coster, I had heard alot about him as he performed RNY on my brother 5/24/06. He is very professional but also very easy going and made me feel at ease. I never felt that guilt that I usually felt when I would go to the Doctor with him. As far as the office staff goes they are WONDERFUL!! Everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable and very, very thorough! Stefanie Noun, the PA at Grinnell Surgical Associates is a dynamo.......she is so GREAT!! I guess I would give Dr Coster and his staff a 10+ so far. I haven't had any negative experiences yet and I am hoping and praying that I don't.

Very personable and informative. Easy to talk to and patient with questions he must have answered a million times over. Office staff was very nice and returned calls promptly. Pre-surgery educational class helps ensure misconceptions are cleared up BEFORE surgery. Pre-surgery class (required) addressed all aspects of aftercare and diet as well as risks and what to expect throughout. Both skillset and bedside manner are A+.
