    About Dr. Ritter Dr. David Ritter founded Rockwall Surgical Specialists in 1998. Since then, he has helped over 15,000 patients in the communities of Rowlett, Rockwall, and Greenville, Texas. As an expert in general surgery, Dr. Ritter performs the full range of surgical interventions, from hernia repair and colon surgery to gallbladder and thyroid surgery.   He also specializes in bariatric surgery and has established a comprehensive program of nutritional and lifestyle support for patients undergoing weight loss surgery. Whenever possible, he performs laparoscopic or robotic surgery, which benefits his patients by promoting quicker recovery and minimal scarring.   Dr. Ritter graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, one of the top medical schools in the nation, then completed his surgical training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.  Dr. Ritter is certified by the American Board of Surgery, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeons.
