Doug Davey Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

When Dr Davey first came out into the waiting room to get me (yes, he came out, not a nurse) I felt instantly at ease with him. He is a very kind and caring man, not to mention extremely intelligent. He spent a good hour with me at the initial consult, answered all of my questions for me patiently and in words I understood (lol). his office staff were all very nice and easy to talk to as well. he told me the risks associated with the surgery and the amount of surgeries he has completed (2000) and that he has been doing them for 25 yrs. He has also had 4 deaths in that time. He was very honest with me in regards to everything. I go back for a 2nd appt. in a few weeks and I cannot wait to see him again.

Dr Davey is a very busy man, which can make it dificult to really get to know him. Surprisingly enough, I have only met him once for 10 minutes. He was very firm & specific about his expectations and the seriousness of his procedure.
He is the head of surgery in the hospital I'm using & is very well respected. He has a very good clinic with dietician & nurse. His receptionist is a little cold sounding on the phone, but I've meet her and she is very competent and helpful.
I have went to a consultation with Charlene the dietician regarding after care & lifestyle after wls. They have an excellent session. However, I wish they did have an ongoing support group where we can meet every couple weeks.

My first impression of Dr. Davey, was very good, I don't think there was a thing that he missed. He explained every risk, but he also told of the outcome. He was frank with his speach, and his expectations of himself, his staff and of myself. At present I have not met his office of medical team so I have no comments there. I would have no hesitation in reffering him to anyone else considering this surgery, as he does not miss a beat. He was firm in his expectations of aftercare, as a matter of fact I think he would not accept you otherwise. His aftercare program is very structured from what I understand from his explanations. Right now I would rate him at the top of the list. I can say this from past experience as I have had this type of surgery before and will be doing it again with Dr. Davey. At present I can no comment on surgical competence as I am not that far down the road yey.

My impression of Dr. Davey was very positive and it has remained so. I felt very supported by him. His dietician and nurse are exceptional. His receptionist I sometimes felt a bit uncomfortable with. She was never rude or anything, just kind of distant. I think everything was well explained. They have a good follow up program except for lacking a support group. The program is new and is still in development. I would rate him at the top, in every way.
