Dwayne Smith Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Smith is an excellent surgeon. He operated on My grandfather several years ago for reasons that did not involve gastric bypass, and Dr. Smith did very well. I have great confidence with Dr. Smith. He is very knowledgable, and took me through everything thoroughly.

He told me the good and bad, but was compassionate as well.

I found Dr. Smith to be a very confident man, (which means a lot to me) and was very forthright with information. He answered all of my questions thoroughly, and took as much time with me as I needed. I never felt rushed, or confused, and feel that I am going into surgery as well informed as possible. There is truly nothing negative to say about him.
Dr. Smith requires his patients to pick up and review an informational binder prior to your initial visit with him. Included in this binder are several pages of questions to jar your memory about former diets you may have tried, as well as a solid overview of what to expect after surgery. There is a list of things to do and not do, as well as restrictions on what to eat, and what should be off limits for your new digestive system. I know that other surgeons do not give you this information pre-surgery, and think that this is a MUST! Without this information, I would be leaping before I look. I think that it is important to understand what you are committing to before taking such a serious step. I have done a great deal of research on surgeons in my area and have to honestly say that I have never heard anything negative about Dr. Smith. I have talked to many other Doctors, as well as nurses that work at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and none of them reported anything negative about him. I hope this review helps you, whether you are looking for a Doctor, or just investigating the surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Smith!

my first impression of dr. smith, he was very nice, and very good at going over what we had to go over so far, the office staff was great i called them on a tuesday morning had an consult. on thursday, they are very quick to get you taken care of i already have a nutr. apt. for this coming tuesday and a dec. 1 apt for the doc. visit before surgery, at this time, givin that myself and a friend of mine, which we are doing this journey together, and we came from ucsurgeons. and they are so slow, and uncareing and dr. smith office in edgewood ky, are very warm caring and ready to take care of you so if your in ky, i suggest calling advanced bariatric center in edgewood, they are very wonderful people and you can tell it from the very first conversation that you have with them , as well their information is very detail and that is something you do want to have with this type of surgery. so you know pretty much everything that is going to happen or what could happen. well if he decides to do the surgery for me, i will be sure to let you know how everything went

Dr. Smith and his office staff have been wonderful. They have so far been very helpful in getting appts scheduled and all things underway so that this can happen in 2003.

Dr. Smith's office is the best. They have work with me and bent over backwards to help. I can't say enough about the office staff, and meeting with the Dr.Smith, was a real pleasure. He knows his stuff. I feel comfortable with him as my surgeon.

I think Dr. Smith is a very nice personable guy. This is the second doctor I have met with with and he made my decision easy. The staff are wonderful. Being in my line of duty, I know how stressful there jobs are and I never not once had a disappointment from them.

Had my appointment with Dr Smith 9/15/03 he was very nice right to the point about the surgery,and answer all my questions,told me if i have any questions just call the office I think hes going to be ok as a sergeon,have talked to other people that had him they all are very pleased.
Well I'm 15 days post-op and my surgeon is just great so glad I had him,he is so caring and understanding to me I couldn't fine anyone better,

I found Dr Smith and his staff to be very friendly and helpful - as they have seen many folks dealing with the same issues that I find myself having they were able to answer all of my questions.
I know that undergoing this surgery will be a life altering event and they work very hard at emphasizing this fact.
I think the best part of this experience so far has been that Dr Smith wants to see my commitment to change - the fact that he and his staff feel that we need to make an informed discission regarding the RNY.
