Dr Vaughn is a caring person his staff is great. Dr. Vaughn's consultation was the best
I would and have told other people how great I think he is as a doctor and a person.

I have met with Dr. Eric T Vaughn only once for my initial consultation and I must say he was wonderful. It was like he totally understood how I was feeling and he was so encouraging. He explained everything to me and answered all my questions. The one thing he said to me that really stuck in my mind was that he switched from being a regular MD to treating bariatric patients because he really felt like he was helping people change their lives and save their lives. He said how excited he was to help me. That was the best thing I have ever heard come out of a doctors mouth!

1/17/02 Had my consultation with Dr Vaughn. I was extremely impressed with him. He made sure I understood everything about the surgery and was very patient with all of my questions. It is now 4/12 and I am scheduled to have my surgery on 4/16. Finding this web site has eased my last minute fears. I am putting myself in God's and Dr Vaughn's hands. I feel very confident.

I was very pleased meeting with Dr. Vaughn. Both him and his staff were very friendly and willing to answer all questions we (my family and I) had. I thought he was serious and funny, very down to Earth. I really felt at ease with him.

I saw Dr. Vaughn for the first time yesterday (2/26/2002) and was very pleased! Bariatric Treatment Centers was on the ball and although the consultation took a bit longer than I thought, I thoroughly enjoyed talking with the staff. Dr. Vaughn is still with the Air Force (although in the Reserves now) and that is appealing to me since I am an ex-military brat! :)

More appealing is that he knows his stuff and was glad to hear that I had already researched the Roux-en-Y surgery AND his background. Since he and Dr. Boe have been at BTC, they have found ways to cut down surgery time to approximately 75 minutes which is good to hear. Dr. Schlessinger is apparently one of the senior physicians at that branch and I can't remember now the other older doctor's name. It's clear that this is a working team though.

From what I read about the other doc's though, I would give Dr. Vaughn's consultation speech a better mark that the others. It was not a canned speech...or at least did not appear to be. He was very realistic about how it all worked and was very candid when I asked him about anyone "beating the system." It's clear that somone with a "grazing" appetite may not be as successful with this method. As a tried and true "binge-eater," it appears that this will curb that issue in a big way!

So far, so good...from what I could tell both bedside manner and surgical competence both get high marks!! Of course, he did tease about JUST how good he is -- typical of specialized docs -- but he was kidding around when he talked about being vain in his work. He did mention that BTC uses plastic surgeon techniques on the incision and that did surprise me.

If the insurance phase goes as well as the consult did, I'll be a happy camper real soon!!

Dr. Vaughn, didn't know what he was in for when my family came with me for my consulation. We had a list a mile long, my daughter alos was going to do a college paper on the subject. So he was drilled very good. He took it very well, was very very helpful and very nice. He answer all of our question and was very honest about everything. He also didn't rush us out of his office. My girlfriend said that the consulation was about 30 miuntes. We talked to DR.Vaughn for over 2 hours, and it was great. The office very nice and neat and everyone in the office was more then willing to help with anything you asked.
He did say that we weren't going to get any rest until I went home. So it would be work, and more work to be done. He did tell us of the risk of the surgery, which is like any other surgery. I've had a couple already so I wasn't really nervous. There a risk with any surgery not just this kind. I would rate him high so far very nice. I think surgical competence is right at the top of my list. That is very important to me. But bedside manner would be nice but if i had a choice it would be competence.
