I went thru Dr Miranda did my surgery dec 28, 2005. He came recomened from a friend of mine and I am glad I went with him. He is very informative and really took time out to tell me everything that I needed to know about the surgery. After the surgery he came into my room and actually sat down to talk to me. Not just walked in and out. He made sure that if I had any questions or concerns he would help me. The staff at neweigh was also very helpfull. They did all the thinking for me. They basically held my hand and helped me every step of the way. Sometimes it can get very overwhelming and they really helped me. I would recommend Dr Miranda to anyone who was considering the surgery.

1) My first impression of Dr. Miranda was that he is very serious about his work and will not take a chance with your life. Made me loose 20 pounds.
2) My impression of him has not changed. He impressed me so much with my husbands surgery and my surgery that he will be doin my mothers surgery.
3) Great office staff in Houston, Tx. They care so much about your health and keep in touch with you.
4) I think initially I didn't like that he was forcing me to loose weight or he wouldn't do the surgery. But it helped me in the end.
5)He is a wonderful man that cares alot about his patients and requires the family to be there every step of the way.
6) Well he puts great emphasize on aftercare .
7) He does have a structural program.
8) He let me know right when I first met him that you can die. But he also told me that he has never lost a patient.
9) On a scale of 1 out of 10, I rate him a 9 only because I think that God is a perfect.
10) I believe that both surgical competence and bedside mannner combined is very important for a doctor to have. However when you are under on the surgical table, and if I had to choose I would choose surgical competance because my life is at risk. My doctor had both.

I felt that he was a very compassonate
gentleman and that he truly wanted to help me. My impression of him has not changed he is the best!!
There was and is nothing that I don't like.
He is a very caring Doctor whom really loves his work and is excellent at what God has gifted him to do. He also is only a phone call away and he will never let you down.
Yes .
He was very upfront and everything was spelled out for me. There were no hidden facts all were presented.
I believe both .
You must connect with your doctor on all levels.

Dr. Miranda is great as a surgeon. Not very personable, but an excellent surgeon. He is very careful to explain the risks of the surgery and stresses the aftercare program.
However, follow up care is an issue if you live in San Antonio. He is based in Houston and comes to San Antonio only to perform surgeries. I've had issues since surgery and I feel like he totally pushed me aside when they came up. I won't see him any longer. I now see Dr. Alanis (his partner). He's also in Houston, but he seems to be more into the follow up portion than Dr. Miranda. Dr. Alanis also comes to San Antonio for surgeries, but he also sees post-ops while he's here.
Advise for future patients, get a LOCAL surgeon. If you need them and they're a couple of hundred miles away, it's a problem. And find out via local support groups, who a good Gastroenterologist is in your town.

My first impression of him, was wow. He looks so young and serious. I wondered why such seriousness he didn't even crack a smile. I asked the staff if he was always so serious they told me he does smile he just is like that at times. Well he finally cracked a smile and that broke the ice. He is extremely knowledgable and knows his stuff, but most of all enjoys doing these surgeries and seeing his patients change right before his own eyes. I could tell in his eyes and could feel his excitment and commitment in his words. There is nothing I can say that I don't like about him he is great. He explained every thing to the tiniest detail and was open for any of my questions and answered them all. He is very honest. What everyone needs to know about Dr Fernando Miranda is that he is a sweetheart and don't let his seriousness scare you like it did at first me. He does smile and with time after you get to know him he will smile more. He does address all the risk of surgery at the first visit and is very frank, but he does reassure you these are things that can happen and it is his responsibilities to keep you informed. He is very firm on the aftercare and will give you suggestions and ideas for a succesfull aftercare. I rate him a 10+. He takes great care of his patients and believe me when I say that. He demands for his patients to be given the highest of care. I was really impressed when he came over to the hospital to do his daily visit and say my bandage was not changed he got so upset with the nurses and right infront of me told the nurse that this bandage needed to have been changed and that this was not unacceptable and wanted this to brought to the attention of the head of the hospital. That his patients needed to be taken better care of I said to myself you go Dr Miranda, know thats my doctor. He is the best!!!!!!!
He is good at everything, he came over and asked how I was and was so concerned. I love my Dr he is great. He even gave me a thumbs up and with a smile at that!!!

My first impression of Dr. Miranda came across as a caring Dr. ready to help.
