Frederick Cason Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr.Fredrick Cason is very nice and friendly.. I could tell he had my best interest in mine the first time we spoke... His staff is also friendly and very understanding... Dr. Cason explained everything about the surgery to me and also the risk involved in Full detail... He also talk to me about the aftercare and gave me a complete out line to follow as far as diet and recovery... I would highly recomend Dr.Cason to anyone that ask me about him... I feel he is a highly skilled surgeon and has a great bed side manner.

Dr. Cason is very knowledgable, approachable, and has many years of experience in Bariatric Surgery as well as being a very good general surgeon. I talked with my Family Doctor as well as my Cardiologist. They both stated that I would be in very good hands with Dr. Cason.
I also talked with the Patient Care Coordinator at Crestwood Hospital. My husband and I attended a group meeting in which Dr. Cason very carefully went over the whole procedure from the history of Bariatric Surgery to where we are today and what to expect (both pro and con) if we have the surgery.
My husband and I met with Dr. Cason in his office and scheduled my surgery for 6 Sep 02. I am now 12 days Post-Op and am doing really well. I have lost 21 lbs. and have no problems at all. Thank you Dr. Cason.

My first impression of Dr. Cason was when I went to an office visit with my sister. She
had open RNY in Sept. 2001. He is very nice and seems very educated about obesity. He has recently started doing RNY laparoscopic-
ally. I'm very glad because recovery should
be a lot quicker and less complicated. He has been doing general surgery for many years and I have complete confidence in his
ablility.

I thought at first that he was a caring surgeon
After my gastric bypass surgery he wrote me off and acted like I was bothering him with my numerous kidney infections and complications.
He told me there would be no problem removing excess skin. Now I find out too late that al medicaid won't pay for this recontructive surgery. Fine time to find out when I can't sit, lay down or sleep because of excruciating pain from skin hanging on my body. He also did not let me know that he could have done this surgery at a later time without a huge scar, i.e., laparoscopic surgery. Future patients beware! You will not be told all the complications and given help with excessive hanging skin. He doesn't give a damn about you. And neither does his staff - they act like you're bothering them. Aftercare stinks. You're just another number and he throws you back to your primary doctor to care for all your numerous complications from surgery which they are ill equipped to handle. He has no structured aftercare program, no support group system. I rate him overall with the grade of F - failure. I desire both surgical competence and a caring bedside manner. Cason flunks in both categories.

Iv only spoke with them over the phone and have set up an appointment with the surgeon. I have already been to my family doctor to get insurance approval. March 26th is my date with him. Im so excited I will keep you informed on the issues and all that good stuff we so desperatly want to know!
waiting on an approval from BC/PPO

Hello,
It's me again. 12/20/01. The year is almost over and I have been waiting patiently. I have learned that when you need to check up on where you stand in line for progress toward getting sugery, Calling his office for friendly advice or answers is out of the question. The lady I believe, Karen is her name, Is very professinal sounding over the phone, but does not in any way want to help. I answer phones for a living so I understand that it can get nervy some times, but we also have a job to do. I forgive her and I must move on. haha...
Tracy, the scheduler for Dr. Cason is very friendly and helpful. My letter from the doctor has finally been sent to Blue Cross and when I checked this morning to see if they have received it the answer was no. BooHoo... So I called Tracy. He told me to get a contact person at Blue Cross and that he would fax it to them. So I did! But when I called him back, Karen informed me with her "tone" that she didn't appreciate having to fax it, and that it would be THE last time they would fax anything for me. So I said, Thank you, and started to pray for her instantly, because the Bible says we must pray for our enemies!( (don't want to give the devil any strong holds)heeheee...
I am so excited, Tracy said that if everything goes according to plan, then I will be having sugery in January. Glory be to GOD!
I have meet Dr. Cason and he seems to be a very nice man, and I know he is capable because God has lead me to him and the devil is fighting like hell to keep this from happening... But In the name of Jesus I have victory over satan, So take that devil.
Let you all know about the hospital stay shortly!
God Bless,
Cara

He staff was All very Nice and have been very helpful. They all seem to really care about my wellbeing.
At this piont there is Nothing I don't like about Dr. F. Cason. (I have had Only my first Visit with Him)
I could tell at my visit that Dr. Cason is Very intrested in Helping people. And Making sure you have the Best of care.
He gave me Lots if information to read up on and in this I found that Dr. Cason had gone Over most All of it with me. He let me know about how long I could exspect to be in the hospital posably 9 days.
At this Piont me in pre-op I would Rate Dr. Frederick Cason a 10!!!!

I really enjoyed my first visit with Dr Cason. He went over everything and asked a lot of questions and had answers top all my questions.
The office staff is very nice and will do anything to make you happy.
The only thing I didn't like was having to wait three months for the first appointment.
He knows the surgery and will tell you everything.
He has a very good aftercare program. He has even started a group for before and after surgery people.
He says surgery is surgery. He will do whatever it takes to make it as safe as possible.
I give him a 10 for overall
I have talked to others who have had Dr Cason as their surgeon, and they loved him and they are doing fine. His bedside manner seems very good, so I would say that both are great.

I was very impressed with Dr. Cason. He was
totally upfront and honest about everything
and my opinion of him is still very high.
His staff is wonderful and completely supportive.
They have always gone out of their way to help
me or answer any questions I had.
Dr. Cason is a very popular surgeon here. He's
been performing this surgery for many, many
years and has had great success.
NO aftercare as of yet, but it's in the works.
Everything was explained in detail, including
the risks.
Overall I give him an A+.
And both surgical competence and bedside manner
are extremely important especially with the
amount of time you will be in the hospital
post op.
