George Cowan, Jr. Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Cowan was very nice but I had a very long wait in his office. I would have liked to have been forewarned that I would have to wait 3+ hours in the exam room with the paper gown that rips more and more by the minute...hungry because I had to fast for the blood tests, and no one even apologized for the long wait...
He was a little gruff with me for misunderstanding the diet history page. I told him maybe I had misunderstood what they were wanting from me. His nurse snapped at me because I had not taken my blood pressure medicine, which I am not supposed to take on an an empty stomach and/or when driving.(both reasons why I didnt take it) but mostly she was nice about everything else.
Before he left he hugged me. I thought that was a nice gesture. I am hoping all of this was just a bad first impression. Overall, I think he is a good doctor. I think possibly his surgical skills are better than his bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. Cowan was very positive. I introduced myself after he gave a lecture on bariatric surgery...he was approachable and friendly! He has a lot of experience in the evolution of weight loss surgery and its procedures. I feel very safe in his care...he is still very active in research in his field.
His Office staff, however, could be a little better and more cooperative with me and the insurance company.
