Extremely caring, takes the time to answer questions about anything that is going on. I spend additional time in hospital due to I'm controlled nausea and he checked up on me multiple times including early morning and weekends When he was staffed at another hospital. Makes you feel as though you as his patient matter and your not just another number. Would highly recommend him.

Dr. Hanafy is from Alexandria, Egypt. He speaks good English, however he does have a accent and can be hard to understand. Dr. Hanafy is VERY professional and very good at communicating his expectations from the initial session. My process took 6 months due to my insurance, but it was a good educational six months. My preop appt was three days prior to surgery and I went thru several documents with the RN and Dr. Hanafy explaining all the surgical risks. Dr. Hanafy is very much against any smoking or alcohol. He believes this is a stepping stone to changing a lifestyle, incorporated with nutrition and exercise. He emphasizes heavily on H2O and protein intake. His office staff is very nice, very professional, and very real, however they can be a bit disorganized at times. The RN/Office manager has had the sleeve surgery herself 2 yrs prior. Talking to her gave you a very real outlook to what type of lifestyle change you are required to embrace in order to be successful. After my surgery, Dr. Hanafy came and checked on me each day (2 days in hospital) and took time to talk to me. 16 days preop, I went for my follow up and Dr. Hanafy and staff were very supportive. They each have been very helpful in my transistion from a liquid to the pureed diet and very helpful in helping me structure my day to enable me to return to work.

I started with Dr Alparovich and I really liked him! Sadly his office was closed. He is now working out of Dr Hanafy's office but not doing Bypass surgery yet. I am now working with Dr Hanafy and I think the two of them are the greatest! Love the office staff!!

I had the VSG on 8/10. I first saw Dr. Hanafy on 5/16 at one of his seminars. The amount of knoweldge and expertise he displayed easily helpled me make up my mind on choosing a surgeon. What a wonderful choice I made! Dr. H. has always been available to answer my questions, day or night, by email or phone call. He was extremely thorough requiring all sorts of lab and imaging tests donew as well as a Psych evaluation, Meetings with a Dietician and an Excercise Physiologist. However since he knew I was going to be privately paying out of pocket for the surgery, he was not going to hold me to seeing the other professionals 2 or 3 times before surgery, just once. Once he received their recommendations he would proceed. I can then go back to see these individuals if I want to later on. He made sure that I was fully aware of the risks involved with this (and with any surgery) ahead of time and that any questions I had were addressed. Dr Hanafy has a great bedside manner and came in to see me a couple of times the day of and day after the surgery. Dr H even called my Aunt Edna long distance (who lives in KS and was very concerned about me going through this procedure), once the surgery was over to let her know everything went well. She told me that really helped a lot with her fears.

He now performs his weight loss surgeries (as well as performs on-call surgery care) through The Auburn Regional Medical Center. I wasn't sure what to expect, but again, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the care I received at ARMC.

I came home on 8/11 in the afternoon and in the last 3 days I have called him several times with questions or concerns and he has never acted like I was bothering him or I was over-exaggerating.

Dr. Hanafy is a wonderful surgeon and person in general and I truly recommend him to anyone in the WA area who has not chosen a surgeron or is unsure of having the procedure. You cannot go wrong with him on your side!

I had my Lap Band surgery with Dr. Hanafy on October 19th 2007. Everything went very well with no complications. Dr. Hanafy made me feel very comfortable and he has a good sense of humor. He explained everything to me in great detail and he is very thorough... which I can appreciate. I was very confident with him doing my surgery. His office has a great aftercare program that seems very detailed and dedicated to helping their patients be successful with their weightloss. The only negative thing I can think of is the front desk staff doesn't really seem like they have it together. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hanafy to do your weightloss surgery!

Great experience with Dr. Hanafy. He was extremely cautious about preop workup, making sure tht everything was thoroughly checked out.Office staff very friendly and helpful-really acted as a team. Only 1 little problem, when I called the nurse a week after surgery with a question, she didn't return my call. Dr. Hanafy assured me that this wouldn't happen again, and the nurse apologized to me for not returning the call. Surgical competence seemed excellent, with a very cheerful bedside manner. Pre and post surgery appointments very hands on and friendly.

Dr. Hanafy was an extremely experiences and very compassionate surgeon who understood the struggles of obesity. I am now two years post-op and have lost the majority of my weight and have kept it off. My life is very much different now. I know that if I have any questions I will still get the same level of care that I had pre-op and immediately post surgery. That is a great comfort. Dr. Hanafy you are the best. Thank you very much.

I first met Dr. Hanafy when he was still with the Wish Center, I liked him then, expesially, when I found out how thourgh He was. He made sure that I was healthy, so that nothing would go wrong, I felt very lucky to have had, Dr. Hanafy stay with the Pioneer Valley Hospital Bariatrics Center. I do not feel I would have placed that much trust in anyone else.

I liked Dr Hanafy from the get go. He really cares about your over all health. He makes sure you understand everything before you even begin the program. He helped save my life. He is very intrested in your follow up care. He does not just turn you loose. The program he has you ,his patient follow is the best around. When it comes time for surgery he goes over everything with you. He then will ask 'Did I scare you?\" If you answer no then he says \" Then I did not do my job well enough\" He wants you to know all the risks.rnIf I was to do this all again I would pick Dr Hanafy hands down...

I love and trust Dr. Hanafy. He is the best surgeon. He is kind and compassionate and truley cares about his patients. His staff is great! They go the extra mile to make everything easier for their patients. The program at Pioneer Valley with Dr. Hanafy is very structured to help the patient succeed with the weight loss surgery. They won't do the surgery without ensuring the patient is ready to follow thru appropriately. I would give him and his staff a 10+ rating. The hospital staff was great also. They made sure I was comfortable, my pain was managed perfectly, and they pushed me to keep my lungs healthy. Everything was wonderful! I've lost 123 lbs now! I'm 18 months out.
