Dr. Schreiber is retired. His staff was absolutely great. I did not like that he was upset about the length of time my surgery took and was unprofessional to my family that was there. My after care was essentially left to me as I lived so far away although I did go in for one after visit. All risks of the surgery were discussed with me. Dr. Schreiber did an EXCELLENT surgery on me. I rate him a 10. Both his competence was great and for some one who was upset over the length of my surgery, I never knew it he was great with me.

In researching gastric bypass, I found that Dr. Schreiber had done close to 5,000 bypass surgeries at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, OH. His post op infection rate was below 1%. That was the biggest factor in my decision. My surgery was uneventful, with the exception of strep throat post op. I had my surgery on 3/22/06, and Dr. Schreiber retired in August 2006.

DR SCHREIBER SHOWED CONCEARN FOR ME AND WAS WILLING TO LISTEN TO ALL MY QUESTIONS. THE OFFICE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL AND WAS THERE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL MY QUESTIONS. I DO THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER IF THE DOCTOR WOULD SPEND A LITTLE MOR TIME WITH ME ALTHOUGH HE DID A FINE JOB IT WOULD MAKE ME FEEL MORE LIKE A PERSON INSTEAD OF WHAT SEEMED TO BE JUST A NUMBER. I STILL WOULD RECOMMEND HIM. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE FINAL RESULT. THANK YOU!

My first impresson of Dr. Schreiber was he is a caring professional. He asked why I wanted to lose the weight. He even asked me did I know the possible risks. He is very informative. His staff is very qualified, knowledgeable, professional, before and after the surgery. Dr and his staff teaches and prepare you before and after the surgery. The books and materials given to me made me feel that I was taking a college course with everything explain what to do and when to do it. Excellent materials. He has great bedside manners and is definitely compentent. I had a great experience and after a week and half, I start feeling better. I also received phone calls from my nurse numerous of time to see how I was doing at home. I would recommend Dr. Schrieber and St. Vincent as the team on leading edge of of Bariactric Surgery in the country. This my opinion and experience. If you think that no one can be the best in all aspects, well, you are wrong.rnLjp

Highly respected competent surgeon. In 1985, he did all interviewing & screening for my VBG. rnHe did my other major abdominal surgeries in 1995 & 2000, not related to weight loss.rnSince his retirement, I will trust his associate Dr. Sonpal for a possible revision.rnrn

I've only met Dr. Schreiber once at my consultation. He was very straight forward and although he didn't give me the warm fuzzy's he impressed me with his professionalism and confidence. He was very concerned if I was well educated on the surgery and what my expectations were. He answered all of my questions in detail without making me fee like my questions was not warranted. He took his time and asked me over and over if I had any additional questions. I came to the conclusion that although his bedside manner might be lacking, what really matters to me is that he will perform the best surgery possible. I'll leave it up to the nurses to make me feel good emotionally.

my first impression of him was fine. i am 6 years post op and to me, it seems as if these surgeons really do not care after so long. i have had problems for a long time and have called the office with no help. i guess it is just discouraging. my family doctor has helped me more than my bariatric doctor.

My first impression of him was that he is very professional and stright forward. Over time my impression did not really change. THe office staff was AWSOME they have all been very helpful. He didn't have much sense of humor. He is very confident in his work and he knows what he is doing. He stresses the aftercare part is very important and that if you don't follow the program you will probably fail. He was very honest and forward with what the risks were he made sure that you understood them. I would rate him 10 out of 10. His surgical competence is much better than his bedside manner. His bedside manner is not bad he's just professional.

My first impression..He was straight forward and honest. He was recommened to me by another doctor that went to school with him,and a former patient to achieved sucess. The next morning I was impressed by his care and concern, I was expecting pain thru out the night and had none. Answered all my questions on eating. All my risks were pointed out to me but, the risk of continuning on with obesity I felt were worse than the risks of surgery. On a scale of 1-10 he was a 100. When I had a problem at home he got right back to me in no time.
I am 18yrs. post op from surgery and other than heartburn and anemia which I take Vt.B12 shots monthly and take iron folic everyday, I have no problems I recently went thru a breast lift and tummytuck with muscle repair in 2005. I am a new person today self esteam is high. And I NEVER want to go back ever again. I have been on both sides of the weight scale now, and both sides require work. This surgery has changed my life for the better. Thanks so much Dr. H. Schreiber for your talents. Cathie Beatty
