John D. Nye Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I weighed over 420 lbs. on my surgery date...I now stay between 200 and 215....this surgery saved my life and my well being!!! Dr. Nye went above and beyond to help me. His staff was really amazing...I am forever in their debt!

I had my Gastric-Bypass surgery in Feb. 09' by Dr. John David Nye @ Baptist Hosp., Pensicloa, FL. I was 371 lbs. @ my largest and now weigh 199 lbs. There are no words to describe how wonderful Dr. Nye, his staff and everyone who aided in this process have been. I could not have been any place better or had any better care and support than there. They never made me feel unconfortable and are always available via phone when I need them. this has been an incredible journey and still not over, but I thank God for sending me to them. He , Dr. Nye, literally saved my life. I know there should be something here that I was disappointed in but, for me, I do not rem. anythig I would chang and after 20 plus surgeries I think I knw this was the best . I do occasionally have some problems w/some meals staying down, but do not feel this is the DR. fault, just learning curve for me.

Hello :) My surgeon Dr. Nye is a Wonderful Doctor :) He is very sweet to talk to, and is always looking after your best interests :) His staff, at his office are top notch . They treat you with respect and take time for you !!!!! They are a 10 in my book !!!! I had my surgery at Baptist Hospital - Pensacola, Florida , and had the best treatment ! Dr Nye is a funny, sweet and quite educated. I totally adore him. Our first meeting, we talked tattoos and piercings; we even had a show-n-tell. Way too cool. He doesn't talk like a doctor; he is completely down-to-earth.

No question is off limits. Dr Nye is quite a talker & loves to draw you pictures while he explains. He answered every one that I had. I meet with him twice before surgery. He never made me feel embarrassed about my weight.

His office staff are super sweet and full of spice. I am loaded with questions and I call a lot. I have laughed and cried with them. They also are well educated on the subject of WLS and Insurance issues.

I live 3 hours away and not once have I regretting selecting Dr Nye. I would highly recommend him to any and everyone.

Dr Nye seems quiet and right to the point. He was very nice and allowed me time for questions along with his opinion of what I should do in respect to weight loss surgery. His wife is his nurse and she is wonderful. She is sweet and sensitive to the needs of the patient. She assured me that I could call any time with questions and was very helpful in scheduling.

Dr. Nye and his staff have been wonderful. They have been so kind and caring from the very beginning and have gone out of their way to make sure my surgery happened and make sure I am doing well before and after the surgery. I could not have made a better choice in surgeons. Dr. Nye obviously cares a great deal for all of his patients. His after care plan is set up to make sure you have the easiest recovery possible. At times sticking to the aftercare diet is not so easy but it is very much in your best interest to follow it to a tee.

My first impression of Dr. Nye was that he was very friendly and extremely indepth with his explanations of the procedure. My impression has not changed over time. Although very busy, he's always willing to answer any questions. His office staff are all very nice and friendly and cooperative. The only thing I didn't like was that Dr. Nye prefers to do his surgeries with a mini-open procedure and not laprascopic. Future patients should know that Dr. Nye is very highly skilled and experienced, and that they are in very good hands. He is very diligent about emphasizing aftercare and has a very structured aftercare program, including a monthly support group meeting which he attends. He was very thorough in addressing the risks of surgery and I would rate him as a top-notch surgeon. His surgical competence is exemplary and his bedside manner is great, both of which are important to me.

Dr. Nye and his staff are wonderful. They went over everything with me in detail and answered any questions I had. I am very impressed with his work. I am very happy with him and the results I have had. I feel comfortable enough to call the office with any questions or concerns I have and that I know they will do what they can to help me.

For those of you looking for a WLS surgeon in the Pensacola you can do no better than Dr. John Nye and his staff, in my humble opinion. Dr. Nye’s is an outstanding and caring surgeon and with extensive experience in Bariatric, General and Trauma surgery - you could not be in better hands! I had the opportunity to experience Dr. Nye’s abilities as a trauma patient on a couple occasions and I would not be here if it was not for him. Later in life, I chose him as my weight loss surgeon. Their Pre-op education and Post-Op care was great. I have never in my 55 years met a Doctor and staff more caring for their patients. I am almost 8 months out and lost 106 lbs.
