Once the surgery was done and I'd lost weight then gained it all back - he acted differently. Like my failure has nothing to do with him. He contradicted what he told me - I told him I was too tight and he said no I wasn't - then the next appointment said I was too tight and thats why I gained. I am MISERABLE - fat, throwing up and in pain. I wanted the band unfilled - he said NO. I wanted a revision - he said NO. I wanted the band out - he said NO. So that's it..he puts it in and if you succeed its because of him....if you fail....its because you aren't DIETING CORRECTLY.

I had hoped there would be more support and less judgement.

knowledgeable
good bedside manner
caring
Lots of patience (takes lots of time to be sure you understand)

My personal opinion: Do not like a particular office staff person that takes care of insurance. Doesn't keep you informed. She thinks she knows it all and because of this my surgery was delayed 60-days. You must manage your journey toward surgery and not rely on office staff. I understand that they "do this all the time" but in my opinion they should listen to patient.

Doctor's office very regimented and lots of requirements but ALL were good information and easy to do. The emphasize before and after care very well.

Although they give you lots of printed information about the procedures and what to expect - I did find it difficult to obtain specific information as to the specific steps (as done my their office) from insurance submission thru the testing process to the surgery date (which is where I am now). It was like they 'handed' out information only when you reached certain 'milestones' like insurance approval. I knew i'd be approved and if I wasn't I was going to pay out of pocket so I would have liked a little more specific information.

I have used this doctor's office for other surgeries for myself and family so I feel confident in saying that they have EARNED their designation as a "Center of Excellance".

I'll let you know what happens AFTER surgery.

Dr. Wallace is great! He answered all of my questions, he is kind yet firm. The office staff at the Kane center were great and very helpful. He is competent and has a good bedside manner. I really had a good experience with Dr. Wallace. The Insurance company was and is a pain, but that seems to be the usual for our school district's insurance.

Dr. Wallace is the best! I would recommend him to anyone who is considering Lap Band. My surgery was flawless. I had no complications whatsoever. He is a very skilled surgeon, and has good bedside manners. Dr. Wallace was also always available to answer any questions or concerns that I had. rnrnThe program at the Kane Center is top notch. They really make sure you are ready for surgery. Due to all the testing that is required before surgery, it was discovered that I had an undiagnosed gene mutation in my blood (Factor V Leiden) that puts me at a high risk for blood clots. Thankfully this was discovered and proper precautions were taken before and after surgery to make sure a blood clot did not develop. rnrnThe support groups offered by the Kane Center are extremely beneficial and I would recommend everyone to take advantage of them. Dr. Wallace's group also has a great program for after surgery. They really are dedicated to the patient's success! No wonder they are a Center of Excellence!

When I first met Dr. Wallace at the information session, I felt like I already trusted him. After the information session, I signed up for an initial consultation with the Kane Center, and they assigned Dr. Wallace to me.rnrnI went to see him for the initial consultation and he spent alot of time explaining all about the surgery and my options.rnrnI started on my journey to get approved by my insurance company ( what a nightmare!) and his staff has been bending over backwards to help me get this approved.rnrnHis staff is very professional and always willing to help. They are kind, and respectful and listen to what you have to say. I wish I could say that for all of the healthcare professionals I have dealt with lately.rnrnI was just released today from ALexian Brothers hospital for a gallbladder removal that Dr. Wallace took out. I was having many issues and my primary care physician and his staff were blowing me off and not willing tohelp alleviate my pain. I called Dr. Wallace and he called the insurance company and tried to get them to let him do the bypass surgery and the gallbladder surgery at the same time. He worked so hard, and yet my ins company still said, NO. They said to take out the gallbladder and then do the bypass becasue they did not want to expedite the approval of the bypass.rnrnThe presurgical care has been awesome and their after care program is great too. I feel I am more than ready for this surgery and to start my new life.rnrnHaving been in the hospital these past few days, I have had a chance to meet Dr.Kane, Dr. Guske and of course have seen Dr. Wallace. They all have been great, spent time with me at the bedside and answered all of my questions.rnrnI have no doubt that in a few weeks when I have the bypass done, that everything will go fine under their excellant care.

I first met Dr. Wallace at a seminar that he presented through the Kane Center, and later had an appointment with him in the office. I was a little concerned that he was the junior member of the practice. However, I was impressed by his knowledge, training and experience as well as his patience in answering my questions. I was familiar with the surgeons he performed his fellowship with at Northwestern University, so knew he had good training. So far, working with the other team members at the Kane Center has been OK.

I loved Dr. Wallace- he's even cute! He explained everything in detail and very interested in anything I had to say. He has remained this way throughout my journey with this surgery. The staff has also been friendly for the most part, and would recommend the group to anyone- Suburban Surgical Care Specialists.

I, personally, have had some complications, and feel almost bothersome to the after hours service- I'm sure they know my name and number by heart. The drs and nurses however tell me not to feel that way. But I have had to call a lot and can't help it.

One of the drs even called me back the same evening after speaking to me in the morning about my condition. Just to see how I was doing! That's never happened before!

I first heard Dr Wallace speak at a seminar and was very impressed by him. At first I was a little concerned that he has less experience than the other doctors, but he wouldn't be a part of their esteemed practice if he was not extremely qualified. Also, there are always two surgeons in each surgery.

I then met with Dr Wallace on Oct 27, 2004 for a consultation. I felt very comfortable with him and my concerns were quickly put to rest. He is an extremely caring and capable doctor and we talked about the surgery and all the risks. After meeting with him I was very anxious to proceed.
