My first impression of Dr. Garrison was, wow, he really cares about his patients. My first visit with him, he was backed up but he took the time out to greet everyone one by one and apologize for the wait. I have never seen a doctor do that especially how busy he was. Over time, my impression of him got better. By my second visit he answered the majority of my questions and he set a surgery date with me. My mother was with me and when she noticed him scheduling the surgery, it hit her, "Oh, my god, she is really getting this done". She starting to cry and Dr. Garrison held her hand and re-assured her that things are gong to be fine.
His staff is wonderful, they did all the work. It is hard for them to answer all your questions at times but they are, at the same time, very busy. I really did not find anything that I did not like about Dr. Garrison. Future patients should know that he is a very caring surgeon and unlike the many others that I have meant or heard of, he is not out for the money, he is more concerned with getting you happy then anything else. With the aftercare, Dr. Garrison explains everything in detail of what his patient will experience. I have not had surgery yet, so I don't have this on a experience level. Dr. Garrison was honest with the risks of surgery but at the same time put the situation in perspective and let me realize that what I am doing today will effect me in the future. Since I have some obesity health problems, I am doing something about my future with these problems. He basically said with any surgery, there are risks. We just need to be aware. From the risks, he did tell me that if I decide not to, just tell him. My rate for Dr. Garrison, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to say 8. I would love to say a 10 but I have not gone through everything yet with him. I feel surgical competence and bedside manner are both as important of each other. Like I have mentioned before, the process with Dr. Garrison so far has been a wonderful experience, yet I still have not had the surgery yet. After surgery I will update any more information I have about Dr. Garrison. As of now, to me, I feel he is a wonderful doctor.
Dr. Garrison was wonderful. I am home from surgery and things went well. I would highly recommend Dr. Garrison.

What can I say about Dr.Garrison? His compassion and overall concern was one of the reasons I made my final decision to go ahead with the surgery. I saw several other doctors before him and they were numb and inconsiderate of my addiction to food. Dr. Garrison made me feel like he genuinely wanted to treat my illness and was concerned with the way I felt about myself not about how bad I wanted to be thin. The office staff is great with timely scheduling. The waiting room can sometimes feel like a never ending pit of darkness and some of the other patients are enough to scare any prospective person away it is well worth it. I was so affraid o f complications but he made me feel like I was in ample hands. Even going into the surgery room I was confident he was treating me with the best care possible. He spent time with me after surgery in the hospital and didn't make me feel like he was rushing on his rounds. I was like he really wanted to make sure I was ok, like a friend. My mom is a RN and even she said he is the most professional, caring surgeon/doctor she has ever met. I've seen many doctors over the years whether it be for me, my son, or relatives and he rates a solid 10.

He was very informative and understanding.
My impression is still the same good!

Dr. Garrison is an excellent surgeon. He does do the surgery open but closes you cosmetically. I was in and out of the operating room in 2 hours and 15 minutes and I had a speedy recovery and so far no complications.
Irma seems to be his right hand woman and she is great. She made all my appointments got my insurance approval and scheduled my surgery. It was really easy and fast. I had all my pre-insurance appointments in one day.
The only thing I wish was different was the actual program. I think they are more concerned about getting you in, approved, scheduled and out. Which is good because you are not waiting months for a date.
Unfortunatley when I had surgery there dietician was leaving so I am sort of in limbo with my diet. They are working on a pulling together a monthy support group and getting a new dietitian.
All in all my surgery was successful and better than I imagined. I would recommend Dr. Garrison to anyone looking for a surgeon.
