Kenneth Burchard Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
I can't think of anything I did not like about Dr. Burchard. He is friendly, warm and compasionate. Was very thourough and answered all my questions. Since my surgery 2 years ago I have seen him for routine check ups. The staff at DHMC is AWESOME they give you all the time you need whenever you need it.
on a scale of 1-10 he is a 10
my first impreesion was that he was easy to talk to and he answeed all my questions.
Over time my impression of him stayed pretty much the same.
The office staff were very polite and always called back as soon as they could.
I can't say that I had found anything wrong with him.i had alot of confidence in him.
I would like people to know that he if very helpful and he cares a lot about his patients.and you are going to get the best care.
He pointed out that all of his patients should have aftercare visits on schedule.it was exteremly important in your post-op care.
yes dr.burchard has a structured after care program.
He pointed out all the risk of the surgury and the good and bad he was very helpful.
iwould rate him very pleasant very involved in my care i would recommend him very highly.i would say both his competence and bedside mannerare great.
My first meeting with Doc B. was in March of 2003 and it has been almost a year since I decided to go thru with the gastric bypass surgery. Upon meeting with and having prior knowledge of him (he performed emergency surgery on my morbidly obese sister last year and saved her life, we were told before they went in to surgery, that there was a signifigant chance that my sister would not make it, not only did she make it, she is having the gastric bypass done by Doc B this summer)I immediately felt very comfotable with him, he was very thourough in explaining all the risks involved, I had some other issues that had to be addressed for the time immediately following surgery and I feel that he himself was very helpful, but I was NOT pleased AT ALL with the pain management team at the hospital!!!! Doc B. gives each and every patient the individual attention and care that one deserves. I would rate Doc B. without a doubt a 12 on a scale from 1-10!! His surgical skills are beyond compare, he is fabulous!!! And he is sssooooo nice and has a very soft spoken element to him that is very comforting!!! Thank you Dr. Burchard for giving me a new lease on life!!!! I know that my sister will be in the best hands with you at her side!!!!
Dr. Burchard was very pleasant to deal with. I had many questions for him at the time of my visit and he patiently answered every one of them.
My impression has not changed on bit. He was there to talk with me before my surgery started on the 19th and again the next morning he again came in to see me and walked me through how the whole surgery had gone.
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is a teaching facility so bright and early I had the surgical team in to visit me. They were all very friendly and informative.
It did take me a while to go through the whole process from my first support group meeting to my surgery date just a little over a year to be exact but in my estimation it was well worth the wait. The support staff at DHMC is wonderful. The day after surgery I was visited by the dietition to be sure I did not have any questions as to what I needed to be eating and drinking when I returned home. They also give you pamphlets with grocery lists and meal suggestions in it that are very helpful.
At the monthly support group meetings of which you are required to attend 3 before you are even scheduled to see the ARNP and Dietician walk you through the whole process. From your first meeting when you leave you know exactly what your next step is.
As you can see I can not say enough good things about my experience at DHMC.
He was a gentle and none judgemental soul! My impression's never changed, he is a very good surgeon! One of the best around! The staff is very knowledgable and most helpful. I think what I like best is he answers any questions you may ask and he knows what he is talking about! He also explaines so we are able to understand! Just be honest with him, he's a straightforward person, you should be the same! The aftercare is very important to speedy recovery! They explain all you need to do and shouldn't do! They can be called anytime you have a question! The Nutritionist isn't very helpful tho! I had a one month follow-up appt. with her and it was cancelled when I got there, two and a half hours I traveled! But thats o.k. I still had an appointment an hour later with Dr. Buchard! I had a ton of question's for the nutritionist and he answered most for me. They told me she would call me for a consult over the phone over the next few days! That was Nov.4th,2002 and today is Feb.5,2003 and she never did contact me! The risks of surgery were well explained and I wasn't affraid at all. God was with me! I would refer anyone to Dr. Burchard he is Top's, he follows the Master Surgeon plans for us and helps us live healthier lives! All are important but the best part is the confidence Dr. Burchard comes accross with! God Bless Dr. Burchard today and everyday! Your doing a super duper job!!
My first impression of Dr. Burchard was that he was very easy to talk, upfront, answered questions to the point and absolutely knows his stuff! My impression of him did not change over time at all. The staff in Lebanon NH at Dartmouth Hitchcock was unbelievable. Had a question, always got a prompt answer. There is a structured aftercare program, every 1st Friday of each month there are meetings held for people that are postop. I would rate my doctor and staff overall...10 out of 10!
Dr. Burchard explained the good, bad and ugly. And what he didn't tell me about a four year student did. All in all I am confident with the procedure and those involved. They do have a structured aftercare program. They also give you a list of the vitamins and foods you will need to have on hand before the procedure so that you are not relying on someone else (that may not have a clue of what you will need) to do your shopping for you. I will let you know more, but for now I am anxiously awaiting the next journey of my life.
Sept 30, 2002, Two weeks and 3 days since surgery. I am back to work. Dr. Burchard said it was a very smooth operation taking about 2 1/2 hours to complete. I was up the next morning. Dartmouth has a planned eating program that you need to stick to for the first 7 weeks. The whole process is gradual. Then you introduce more solid foods back slowly. I thought that everyone in the hosptial was great. I had the best nurses. I am now on the next chapter of my journey looking forward with excitement. GOD Bless.
He was very professional and very informative. He took his time to let me know everything that was going to take place and what he will do. He answered all of my questions and seemed to take his time in answering all of this to the fullest he could.
He will be my surgon now and after surgery. He is very involved in my care post-op. I can call anytime and ask questions etc.
