Kerry Ozment Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

41 years ago Dr Ozment changed my life unbeknownst to him. After a friend of mine had him do her surgery I was very impressed. I scheduled a consult with him and 3 other patients and decided this is what I needed. Since the surgery and loosing one year to the date 100 pounds I actually got a job I had applied for before my surgery. Now to this date 41 years later I am STILL well over half my weight then at 298 pounds, surgery date check in weight. I was very blessed to have had him commit to me as a patient. He was very attentive to me as well as his nurse and his staff at physicians hospital in Little Rock. I now weigh 149 pounds Thank you so much Dr Kerry Ozment for being you.

I want my personal testimony to be on record for, and in support of Dr. Kerry Ozment. Twenty-five years, ago TODAY, he did my bariatric surgery. I am living proof that with the God-guided hands of Dr. Ozment and the good doctor's guidance that a great life can be lived through the awesome transformation that losing 150 pounds brings. I followed his orders to the letter and exercised, even when I didn't want to, so that I can live the life I have today as a normal and healthy woman. It is with this assurance that I can recommend bariatric surgery, provided the patient's attitude and dedication to success is firmly in place.
TWENTY-FIVE years is a long time to be able to look back, with no regrets and to be able to live without the trappings of obesity, with the knowledge that I did the absolute right thing.
THANK YOU, KERRY OZMENT, FOR MY LIFE!

Dr.Kerry Ozment did my Roux-n-Y Gastric Bypass on June 06,1994.My first impression of him was that he cared deeply for his patients, and he did not condemn you but he would build you up.
I weighed 426 pounds the day of my surgery, and eventually got down to 158, I am now up to 230 16 years later, which is not bad still almost 200 pounnds down.
I have had so many blood and iron transfusions, I cannot count I now have neuropathy, fibromyalgia, parahyperthyroidism, chronic anemia, malabsorption and a host of other bypass related issues.I don't feel as if we were informed enough during the seminar of all these risks.Shortly thereafter he retired and I had a bowel obstruction and Dr. John Baker had to perform emergency surgery, because Dr. Ozment was only a consultant on Bariatric Surgery, I just feel people need to be more educated on the lomg term effects.Don't get me wrong I am happy to be alive but I have no quality of life. I may be 1 in a million , and this does not mean it will happen to you.Just get informed

Dr. Ozment was so very informative. Back then, he would have sessions with 4 possible patients at a time. My surgery was in 1990.rnSo I am a dinasour to RYN surgery.rnrnI have trusted Dr. Ozment and never felt anything but grateful. At the time his office staff was awesome and friendly.rnI was upset when I had to move to another gastric doctor for follow ups; since Dr. Ozment no longer does surgery. I then started with Dr.Rex Luttrell and loved him also. He theory was the same as Dr. Ozment so it was a smooth trnasition for me. I am not sure of his aftercare at this time since I moved from Little Rock in 1999.rnrnDr. Ozment described all that could happen and the risk of the surgery and aftercare. I followed the rules to the minute; so I really did not have any problems.rnrnI would rate both Dr. Ozment and Luttrell with a 100. 10 if you are on a scale 1-10.rnI also saw Dr. John Baker; and I was not as happy with his aftercare treatment.rnrnDr. Ozment and Dr. Luttrell surgical competence and bedside manner was just wonderful. They were available at anytime.

My surgery was 19 years ago so I dont have a good recollection of Dr. Ozments office staff; however, I do remember Dr. Ozment and feel like I owe my life to him. I chose Dr. Ozement to do my surgery because I became friends with a lady who had used him and shared with me how he had allowed her to gain a new lease on life. After meeting her, it took me a year to get up the courage to seek out Dr. Ozment. He was up front with all that was entaled with the gastric-bypass. The things that were not stressed enough were the psychological aspect of the changes that have occured in my life and the malabsorption/vitamin deficency issues I would face. I wish that I would have listened when it was suggested that I might want to seek counsel for the changes that would occur in my body. I did not and have had issues even to this day, with self image. I also have had recurring issues with iron deficiency anemia and other malabsorption problems. Even with these issues, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The night before my surgery I prayed that if God saw anywhere in my life (other than pregnancies)where I would be fat, to let me die on the table the nextday!!! I was that desparate. This surgery is a desperate measure for a desparate person!!! I tell every person that asks me about my surgery this statement. I rate Dr. Ozement a 20+ out of 10 and thank him for giving me this new me. I went from 227 lbs on the day of my bypass surgery to 115 lbs today. When people ask me would I do it again, I say that having the surgery is the best thing that I ever did for myself besides giving my life to Jesus!!! THANK YOU DR. Ozment!!!

My first impression of Dr. Ozment was that he made me feel quite comfortable and that I could ask him any question without reserve. Before, during and after surgery my opinion of Dr. Ozment is still with the greatest respect. Dr. Ozment office staff was very informative and Madelyn was very good. After I had my surgery, Dr. Ozment offically retired. I came back for my six month check up but after that I have been on my own for follow up. I found a local doctor who was willing to keep up with my labs. Madelyn call me several times during my first six months for follow ups but have not heard from anyone at St. Vincent's since then. There is really no aftercare program that was available for me since I am 3 hours away. If Dr. Ozment was still available, I would recommend him to anyone who wanted a good surgeon. My scar healed very nicely and I have no problems since having open RNY surgery.

1. He was wonderful.
2. No
3. Professional
4. Follow up care
5. He is no longer doing surgery, I don't think, is a consultant maybe. I don't know for sure.
6. Had surgery in 1987. I just remember calling him b/c I was having a problem with bowel elimination and his office staff telling me to contact my primary care physician, of which I did not have one, my fault. I did follow up with a physician who was not familiar at all with RGB.
7. Not at that time. Since then I understand that he has developed a GREAT program.
8. Very well. There was a meeting with Dr. and spouse to hear the possible concerns.
9. Excellent/Superior
10. Both were great.
I think/know that there has been a tremendous amount learned about this surgery and that I as the patient have the ultimate responsibility to "follow through" with any concerns I have with appropriate provider.

Dr. Ozment did my orginal surgery, but something went wrong. After a while I was diganosed with Lupus, fibromyalgia, and inflammatory bowel disease due to the surgery.
That was in 1987.
In 2005- my stomach and body had been destroyed. Dr. Ozment no longer accepts calls. So a wonderful Dr. Named Dr. Clay Well born, came along and saved my life. I am 35 was was being put on the Hospice list before he came to see me in the hospital through a referrel. He is great and I would recommend him to anyway interested in WLS.

My surgeon was very nice from the beginning and cut no corners on the does don'ts and risk involved in this surgery. He answered every question quickly and completely at seminar as well as my pre-op visit. My daughter was very impressed with him at my pre-op visit. I am even more convinced that Dr. Ozment is the best WLS surgeon around. He has awesome bedside manners and is very concerned about how you are feeling and your recovery. My husband was very pleased with his over all personalitiy. Madelyn came to see me everyday i was in the hospital...I will say this the first time I met Madelyn I was not sure how to take her it was at the seminar and my daughter had, had to drive there and she has 2 small children and we had no one to keep them. When Madelyn walked in and saw them she had this not so nice look on her face and she was shaking her head no. My daughters husband is in the military and is deployed so she left the office and went to find and place to entertain the kids while I set through the seminar......WELL :) She's nice.
As it turns out Madelyn has no children of her own and is a bit nervous around kiddos...She is super nice and even held my infant grandson the day before my surgery...Thanks Madelyn your a nice gal,,,but you did kinda scare me at the beginning....And the nutritunist is is super sweet to....very pretty girl and my grandson loved her too.
Dr. Ozment and his staff furnised me with a shopping list before my surgery and numbers so that I might contact any of them at any time night or day. Dr. Ozment provides follow up care and i must say I am looking forward to my follow up visits.....THANKS DR. OZMENT AND ALL YOUR STAFF! Sherrie
