Lily Chang Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

Dr Chang did an amazing job with my RNY bypass in 2021! I ended up having some complications unrelated to her work, and she performed a second surgery that saved my life. I’ve lost around 165lbs in total and feel like a brand new person. I had the surgery to relieve PCOS symptoms after years of infertility and recurrent early pregnancy loss. Once I was cleared to begin trying for another baby, I got pregnant on the first try and my daughter is doing amazingly well. I truly can’t say enough to express how grateful I am for Lily Chang.

I flew into Seattle from Alaska for my appointments. I had started my process with another surgeon in Alaska October 2014. I made the decision to fire Dr. Todd in Alaska and switch to Dr. Chang August 2015. I was so pleased with her willingness to take me as a patient and the professional attitude I experienced from everyone involved. My first appointment was October 2015 and I had surgery December 2015. I had some bleeding after surgery and stayed in the hospital for 5 days. They took excellent care of me. My follow up phone calls and appointments have been educational and satisfying.

My surgery was 11/19/2015 - and I spent 2 days in the hospital - the post-op nurses were absolutely fantastic, as were the nursing assistants.

I first met Dr. Chang in Sept'09 for my first consult. She has a very calm demeanor, very informative and answered a lot of my questions. Her assistant Ethan is also an incredible individual. Always friendly, answers email and phone calls immediately. They really made me feel at ease before my surgery. I had my surgery on Jan 19, 2010 and I must say I am so happy with my decision. Dr. Chang's medical team were so professional and awesome. They really took care of my needs and made me feel like a very special patient. I cannot give enough praise for all the staff members at Virginia Mason. I came home feeling good whereas on the day of my surgery I was a total wreck. Thank you all!

Dr.Chang is really very personable. I met with her for the initial consultation and she dedicated about 1 hour to our conversation. She asked great questions that really made me think about this decision.rnrnDr.Chang's office staff are exceptional. I had a few challenges with getting called back by the baratric nurse last year but I was informed that she has left the practice. I have only had positive interactions with the new contact people and they have been extremely connected with me and answering my questions.rnrnDr. Chang is awesome.

I met Dr Chang in Seattle at the begining of March 08. She is a lovely woman who is very straightforward and to the point. Her scheduler Ethan is fantastic and patient and understanding. I found Dr Chang to be very approachable and felt comfortable immediately. She wants to know what you know and then tells you what she knows and all about the different options available to you. To date I don't have anything negative to say about her or her office. They have been wonderful and considering I am travelling to Seattle from Vancouver BC to have this surgery and the surgeons office is having to deal with BC Medical I admire their patience! I can't yet comment on her surgical competence as surgery is still a month away, however her bedside manner is excellent.rn.rnI have now had surgery and a follow-up visit with Dr Chang. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. I don't know that I could even come up with anything for them to do differently that would have improved my experience. The only surprise was that I expected to see Dr Chang prior to going under in the OR but didn't. The staff were wonderful, she is wonderful and I could not be happier with my progress to date.

Dr Lily Chang is very professional and an expert at what she does. I couldn't be happier with the surgery or my recovery process. I believe this is because of her work.

She was very nice and thorough. My first appt with her was over an hour and I felt very comfortable with her. She explained a lot of the pros and cons of all types of surgeries that she does. She specializes in laparoscopic surgery, so that made me even more comfortable. She works out of Virginia Mason in Seattle. The staff there are very polite and efficient. I got in prior to my appt time.
