Dr. Hruska is very to the point and makes it clear the good and bad about the surgery. She has only been doing WLS for right under a year but after meeting her I very much feel that I am in good hands! She was very positive about how she felt I would do as a WLS patient and I appreciate her honesty. I was very impressed with her all the way around mainly because I was treated as an equal. She did not talk down to me she talked with me, on my level.
I have to say that I thought Dr. Hruska was much younger than I thought she would be...But thats OK with me. She's great. The first time I saw her I knew I would like her as a person and wanted her to do my surgery. The office staff was very kind a helpful. Got approval within two weeks and a surgery date a week later. She and the office staff will be very easy to work with in the coming months ahead.
My first impression of her was great . She is very clear on the surgery and what is going to happen.Her staff is very helpful and very understanding.
My first impression of Dr.Hruska was a little concerned becuase she is rather young. However after speaking with her and her nurse I was more at ease. She is very direct and straight to the point. She let's you know that she wants you to promise her that you will get up and walk the night of your surgery. Otherwise she won't do the surgery. She makes sure that she has all the paperwork she will need before she goes for insurance approval which makes things a much smoother road. She not only goes over aftercare before your surgery but she goes over it several times after your surgery and on the day of discharge. I rate her overall as a wonderful surgeon. I honestly can't find anything I didn't like. To me a surgeon that has a good bedside and is surgically competent is ideal. In my opinion Dr.Hruska deffinately fills both of these.
I found her to be very polite and very easy to talk to. she explained everything to me where i could understand it. the thing i liked most about her is she is very outgoin. and seems very interested in you enough to take time and actually speak to you not just be in there for like 10 mins.
My surgeon is Dr Lindy Hruska. I havent met her yet, but will update after my consult! Her office has been very nice and mailed me all the paperwork needed for my consult.

What was your first impression of him/her?
- i am very pleased with Dr Hruska so far! She is young, probably not too much older than I am.. but that doesnt bother me. She has done approx 110 open rnys, with zero patient deaths! She did a thorough exam and went through all the risks of surgery. She explained why she does open vs lap and staples vs non staples. I felt like she answered any question I could have had about the surgery, and she did it in a very confident manner. I will mention that, based on her last name, I was expecting a foreign doctor - which worried me slightly (i have had trouble communicating effectively in the past with doctors from certain countries). Dr Hruska is caucasian, with a foreign sounding last name.
How would you describe his/her office staff?
- very friendly and FAST to help!! i needed a sleep study scheduled and the woman did it while i stood there waiting! :)
What did you like least about him/her?
- there was nothing i didnt like about the dr & the staff
What should future patients know about him/her?
- you need to have a psych eval, nutrtional consult, AND a sleep study BEFORE they can get approval from insurance and schedule your surgery!!!
I really liked Dr. Hruska. Her staff was VERY nice and always ready to answer questions, especially about any risks and medical problems. I had a 5 hr drive to get to the appointment and then 5 hrs back. LONG DRIVE!! However, when I had my psyc eval and nutritional eval sent to them...I assumed that they had received it and sent all the paperwork to the insurance. After a month and a half waiting, I called and they had my paperwork just sitting there waiting for the reports. This mad me crazy because the afternoon of my last appointment (psyc eval) I called and let them know I had completed all the steps and the reports were on their way. This is my only negative comment about my experience so far. I would still give Dr. Hruska and her staff a 10.
My first impression while speaking to set up my appt was very pleasant. The receptionist really explained things to me and took time for any questions that I had. I have not had that experience with any other surgeon's staff that I have called.
I liked her she was sure to explain the surgery and give you time to decide for sure if you are ready for this life change.
