My first impression was that he was very short! No, he stayed short, but he is very funny and kind.
His office staff can be harried at times and sometimes it is a long time to get a call back.
I liked the wait time to see him the least.
Know that his office does not take Medicare and that he is in demand so surgery times can be several months in advance.
He has a very good aftercare support group program set up.
For those that are local, the support aftercare program would work best.
He answered all of my questions and told me all the risks associated.
I would rate him as an A!
His surgical competence is A+++, his bedside manner is an A- (because he is always rushed)
Even after 4 years, it is a pleasure to see Dr Gorospe and show him the changes that his procedure started me on. I could not have done it without him. I have recommend several of my friends to use him for their surgery as the selections locally here are worse than adequate.

He knows what he's doing and communicates well.rnMy impression didn't change, only became more impressed with his skills and staff. Dr. Kirk was very supportive when I had to jump through so many medical issues to get to the place where surgery was safe for me. His emails and those from RN Debbie really supported me during those dark months before I was well enough to have the RNY. rnI didn't like that Dr. Pond is not in my insurance network. He's great, just not in network...drat.rnStaff is very knowledgeable and responsive; easy to communicate with.rnOnly thing I don't like is that I have to travel a little over 3 hours to get to Owasso.rnThey did everything possible to get the authorization from the insurance companies...they know how to go about it.rnAftercare is very important, including support group. There is a support group in Joplin, a lot easier for me to get to! Follow-up visits are scheduled at regular intervals, with accompanying lab tests (which I can have done locally and sent to Dr. G. before my visits).rnThere are risks, as written out in literature and web site. Most are due to patient non-compliance with instructions.rnI rate Dr. G with a \"G\" for GREAT!rnSurgical competence is more important. It's nice to have the bedside manner also.rn

The first impression I got of Dr G was that he was very concerned for the health of people with problems with their weight. He was thorough with the answering of questions that I had about the surgery. The staff have been very helpful and very prompt in answering my voice mails or emails. So far I would rate them a very high 9 (I would do 10, but I havent had the surgery yet)

He's a very professional, caring person. He cares about the ability for us to live our lives happily and healthy. His staff is wonderful and it helps that they have already been through the process. Future patients should know that this should be the most important change in your life and most important decision you will ever make.
