Michael Bono Bariatric Surgeon

He treats his patients like pretty much most surgeons....quickly with little time to chat. He did a great job on my surgery and his staff is very professional and eager to assist any way they can. I look forward to my follow up visits.

7 years ago today, jan 5th, i had my gastric bypass surgery done by dr michael bono....i was the BEST decision i've ever made. i lost a total of 155lbs. i've gain back a total of 20-25lbs. i've also had a daughter in that time..she is now 4yrs old. Dr Bono is a wonderful surgeon, and did a wonderful job. the staff was also amazing. i would recommend him and this surgery to anyone who is thinking about doing it. they say that most people will gain back 1/2 if what they lost, but i was very lucky to have had a daughter and only gained back between 20 and 25lbs. i love dr michael bono and everything that he has done to change my life, and give me and my family a more healthier wife, mom, sister and daughter!

Very matter of fact guy. Straight forward regarding statistics of remaining morbidly obese vs. risk of surgery. Explained all risks benefits of surgery. He has a extremely dry sense of humor, that i think most people might not get. He seems to be a very technically gifted surgeon. I have had no complications, and am loving my sleeve. If you need hand holding or encouragement the team, Jane, Brenda and Amy are there for support .

I had a great experience with Dr. Bono, and all of his staff at Northeast Bariatrics. I felt that I was very well informed of what to expect when going into surgery, during surgery, and the days and weeks following the procedure. Dr. Bono is a very confident surgeon, and made me feel comfortable right away. His staff takes this surgery very seriosly, and really know theie stuff! I went to Bono because I know several other people who went to him, and also had a positive experience. I would not have gone to or recommend any other surgeon in the Northeast PA area other than him.

My first encounter with Dr. Bono was at the informational session. I later met him in his office when I was examined and scheduled for my consultations. Dr. Bono is a young, bright, no nonsense surgeon. He takes the time to answer all of your questions and explains the risks of the surgery as well as the risks of continued obesity. I have researched him thoroughly. Being local, I have access to many of his patients and they all speak very highly of him. He is personable, has a good sense of humor, and loves his job. I have the utmost respect for him and complete confidence. His program manager, Jane, is terrific. She is always available to answer questions and monitor your preoperative progress, making sure that you are getting everything done. I am very fortunate to live 2 miles from Dr. Bono's practice. People come from hundreds of miles for his services. Since the site recommends that you say "something negative", I guess I will add that sometimes you wait a while to see him; but not much more than most specialists.

UPDATE: I had my Realize Band surgery on 01/11/2010 at Hazleton General Hospital and all went well. I cannot heap enough praise on Dr. Bono, his nurse / patient coordinator Jane, and the staff or Hazleton General Hospital. My comfort level was great. I am VERY lucky to live in a small town where such an amazingly talented Bariatric Surgeon practices. If anyone is considering coming to Hazleton for this procedure, i will be happy to tell you the details of my experiences. My only regret is not doing this years ago.

I found Dr. Bono's profile on the internet after much research and was impressed by his statistics and reviews. When I finally met him, I liked his personality and I liked what he had to say at the new patient meeting he holds. His office staff is very nice and I just love Jane, she is great! Their instructions and handouts tell you everything you need to know about the whole process. Once you get your surgery date, they give you all the tools you need to get ready for surgery and what to expect post op and post discharge. My hospital stay was wonderful; the nursing staff was great!

4/28 I first met Dr Bono @ the orientation meeting he requires that you attend before you can have an appt. The meeting was very informative. He is able to make his point with humor and compassion a rare combination. Jane his RN coordinator and Amy the dietician were also there what a great trio they are. THey just put you at ease. I dont feel like I could be in better hands.rnrn5/8 My first appt with Jane and Dr Bono went very well. I was very comfortable and can't wait to get started. There is a long list of consults I have to go through. I got started today with the EKG, and blood work, and a chest xray.rnrn

Dr Bono is a great surgeon. He tells it like it is but still has a great bedside manner. He makes clear all of the risks and benefits of GBS and makes sure that you have the support you need before and after surgery. His staff is very considerate and helpful. I give him an AAAAA++++

What can I say about Dr. Bono and Jane but they are absolutely wonderful!! I am 4-1/2 mo. post-op and I would have not been able to get here without them! His thoroughness with making sure you get clearance from every imaginable doctor really impressed me. Hazelton General was great also, the facilities and the staff couldn't have been better, I was impressed especially from being out of the county and comparing the hospital to my local hospitals. I cannot think of one thing that I didn't like or care for about Dr. Bono and his staff. I did have a couple minor complications which are very normal and Dr. Bono was great, fixed me right up! The support group meetings are great, very helpful to keep you on track, I wish I could attend them all but being a little far, it's hard. Amy the dietician is wonderful, always available to you for any questions you might have. I cannot say enough about Jane, she calls you back immediately if you call with concerns or questions, she's sooooo encouraging because she's also post-op and knows exactly what you have been through or what you are about to go through! I love them and cannot thank them enough for giving me my life back!!! If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to help you, just send me a message!
