My first impression of Dr. Bono was he was a matter of fact type of doctor. He was right up front and made sure you knew what was expected of you. I have only met Dr. Bono once so my impression of him hasn't changed. I listened to him on t.v. and was impressed. Everyone I have come in contact with at the group meetings has nothing but praise for him. Dr. Bono's staff, Jane and Amy are the best. They are very helpful in answering my questions and guiding me through the process. It has been a long process for me (6 mo.) because of my insurance, you have to wait 6 mo. before you can have the surgery. That has been the hardest part. People should know that this group of people work great together to help make the process go smoothly and your best of interests come first. They have everything written clearly for you to follow before and for after surgery. It is up to me to follow everything they tell me to do. They explain the risks of the surgery just like it is for any surgery. Since I haven't had my surgery as of yet ( should be very soon) I can only say what I have experienced so far. The hospital staff that I came in contact with for all my pretests were all very competent and caring. The hardest part is the waiting. I have a friend who is a patient of Dr. Bono's and had the procedure done 5 yrs. ago and he too has nothing but praise for the whole staff. I will write in after my surgery and let you know how everything went.

The first time I met with Jane and Dr. Bono, I was a little uneasy. I thought I was going to be judged for my weight. It was the exact opposite. They were very comforting and understandable. Jane will do all she can to help you and Dr. Bono is very straight forward. Thats what I like about him. He dont sugar coat anything. He takes the time to sit down and explain what his plans are and what your concerns are.

Well right now i am just awaiting my date, all of the doctors visits and tests are done. I do have to say that Jane is amazing she works with you at each and every step. I think Dr. Bono is great yet fast talking doctor, which is fine because my whole family talks fast. I just can't wait for the next step!!!

Oh my goodness, what can I say about Dr Bono? rnrnFrom the moment I met him and his nurse coordinator, Jane, I felt at ease. Both are very upfront and honest, willing to tell you the good and the bad to everything. I didn't feel that I had to hesitate in any questions that I had and if I didn't understand something completely I knew I could ask them to go into further detail, without making myself feel like a fool. rnrnJane is a GREAT person, as she keeps in touch with all of Dr Bono's patients via visits and email. Living over an hour away from the office, and not always able to call, it helps a lot to be able to pull up my inbox and fire off a question and I know I will get a response back. The rest of the office staff are very friendly and warm. I don't mind sitting in the waiting room because they actually interact with you!rnrnI would recommend Dr Bono to anyone who is within driving distance and is in search of a surgeon for GBS. I HAVE recommended him to quite a few already, and will continue to do so.

my first imprssion was very good on Dr. Bono i traveld about 75 miles to have my suregery wi him. umm i had quite a bit of complications after my surgery the firstt week was good then i had little fever and pussing out of my iscion i went the 75 mile back to see the doctor he said oh its fine and just cover it and then i went home started tog et a fever i was turnign blue an couldnt stop shaking and had a temp of 105 F i called the doctor and still nothing i was over reating i went to my local ER they sent me home on antibodics but i go back 2 hours lster a differnt doc is working at that time i was even throwing up bile as well they do a cat scan of my iscion and see a massive infection so hey transfer me down to hazleton by ambulance 75 miles they would let my father drive me. i get to hazelton general they do xrays and admit me they are trying to get my temp down but it wouldnt i was on cooling blankets and everything the first itme i saw my dad cry. then dr. bono brings me back to the or said he had to clean out the infection when i woke up in the room i look down while he nurse is changing the bandage and to my surprise i see my insides he had to keep the inscion open to heal from the inside out . it took 7 months for it to heal completely i had my father and nurse stuffing and changing my dressing 2 times aday surgig that time. hen i think evrhing is going okay im losing the weight quick i also couldnt keep nething down . about 6 months after surgery i end up a t st josephes in hazelton for malnutrion and dehydration they had to put a port in my chest to give me TPNs for 8 days i go home the port stayed in just in case i needed it again hat got infected 3 days after i got home back in the hospotial on IV antibodics for 7 days another major infection lucky me. okay then 1 month after i start getting seve pain in my hands and feet and cant feel them off and on i go to nerologist at Colombia in NYC they do an EMG i have pherial Neurapathy from lack of vitiams and not eating im still on medications till this day for that and for 3 years now i hav had serve aneima which causes me to have to go in and out the hospital for a week at a timefor bllod transfsions and iv iron herapy . i was not told of all these risks he said i would have to take b12 for the rest of my life and that was it. i mean i honestly dont know if i would do it agian but now that i had some of my plastic surgery im like i think iw ould have i started at 400 i am now 209 they took 14lbs of extra skin off in may 2007 when i had the belt lift. i had the breast down in 11/2007 and 1/23/08 i have my arms down and 3 months later my legs. i mean i was down to 170 but i ained about 60lbs when i had my daughte in 2005 a blessing from god . would i do it agian i think so i cant wait to be finsihed though.

At the present time I'm awaiting my surgery date, but I have to say that I am greatly impressed with Dr. Michael Bono. He is very up front with his patients, he is very thorough and he leaves no stone unturned. My insurance required only a few hoops, but his hoops were many but I feel more confident about the surgery due to all the consultations that he requires of his patients prior to surgery. I was seen by a nutritionist, psychiatrist, gastroenterologist (episcopy performer), vascular lab, pulmonologist, cardiologist and I was also required to attend support group meetings as well. I will certainly update following surgery!

I had my 1. surg. consult with Dr. Bono and his assistant, Jane. I was nervous, of course, after all, I was meeting the Dr. who I will trust with my Life! I had never had ANY surgery, so this is BIG for me.rnI liked everything, from the first moment we got there. Everybody was really nice, and treated my husband and me with kindness and respect. Knowing how very busy this office is, I was extremely pleased that both, Dr. Bono and Jane took all the time we needed... there was not one moment where I felt.. OK, our time is up! lol Dr. Bono was friendly, informative, and very professional, plus he appreciated our list of questions, and answered all of them. I know I made the right decicion to travel ALL THE WAY TO HAZELTON :) and I am truly believing that I made the right decicion and that I can trust Dr. Bono 100 %.

I'm 17 years old and my mother took me to Dr Bono because alot of people she worked with had gone to him for surgery and loved him.rnWhen I first met Dr Bono I loved him. He was Great! Made me feel comfortable. His nurse Jane is a great person also, you can ask her a millon questions and she will answer them all.rnDr Bono has his own set of doctors that he works with so everyone is on the same page. The people in the office are nice but this office is ALWAYS busy. If you go for an appointment expect a delay. Dr B takes his time with you so in turn the appointments run late.rnAll my presurgery appointments took about 1 month. rnI'm currently 1 week post opt.
