I went through the entire process and was approved for surgery and offered a surgery date and five minutes before the surgery is to get started Dr. Williams comes out and looks at my stomach again and says I cannot do your surgery. You need a gastric bypass and I do not have permission from the insurance company and sent me home.
The inquiry by the Medical Board of Pennsylvania completed its investigation of my cancelled surgery and the official reason for the cancellation was insurance issues: 1:. There was a payment dispute with Medicare about not getting paid and 2: If the insurance did not pay for the surgery, Dr. Williams would have been financially responsible for all the medical expenses of my surgery.
It would have been nice to have been informed prior to arriving at the hospital and not having to wait a year and file a complaint with the Medical Board to get an answer for my cancelled surgery since I could not get it from Dr. Williams or his staff dispite many attempts.

Dr. Williams was charming and very well recommended. I spent probably only 15 minutes talking with him prior to the surgery. However, the Univ. of Penn Bariatric program provides a great deal of information to their patients and I knew what to expect. I, therefore, had very few questions for him.rnrnI was pleased with the dietary staff and their support. Again, very adequate information was provided in advance. Support groups are offered on a monthly basis and appear to be well attended.

I had surgery with Dr. Williams in June 2005 and never took the opportunity to thank him for his expertise. My surgical experience and post op went without a hitch and recovery was effortless. I would like to lose another 15 or 20 pounds but that's on me. Because I live in Delaware, my primary physician has monitored my health which includes reduced cholesterol and sugar, superb blood pressure, less wear and tear on my joints, and excellent health. Thank you to Dr. Williams, his staff, and the Hospital of the University of PA.

Dr. Noel Williams is a excellent surgeon. From the beginning, I knew I was in good hands. He takes time with all his patients. He wont leave the room until you are comfortable. He is very informative. He thoroughly explained my procedure and answered all of my questions. The day of surgery he came to see me and made sure I was ok. I also got 2 more visits from him while in the hospital. My first post op appointment was great. He is very pleased with my progress. I am so happy I chose Dr. Noel Williams as my surgeon.

My first impression of Dr. Williams was being a professional and good at what he did as he was his office staff was great patient and reliable Dr. Williams emphasized aftercare to the fullest and insured me how important it really is.He came to see me first thing the morning after surgery to make sure I wasn't to uncomfortable and that my sutures were looking good in which they were I would recommend him to whoever wants a caring and nurturing surgeon who really cares about his patients and is not all about the money all of the time.

I highly recommend Dr. Williams. He is a very well respected surgeon in his field. He is friendly and caring and appears to truly have your best interest in mind. rnrnThe staff at HUP are AWESOME!!! Everyone you meet are professional, nice, caring and personable. Everything you do at HUP is well scripted and things flow so easily. They really know what they are doing which leaves very little follow up for you to do.

The program at University of Penn Hospital provides comprehensive care. In order to be in the program you first have to attend an information session, which if you have been a responsible patient and researched the procedure you already know... You also must not only meet with your surgeon, and get a physical from a nurse practioner, you must also meet with the nutritionist there.. they have two on staff Rachel and Cara. You also must meet with a psychologist. Everyone you meet has to sign off on your surgery, including your PCP.

All I have to say is Dr. Noel Williams and his team took really good care of me... I met with him several times prior to my surgery and each time it just gave me more of a reassurance that he had my best interest at heart. The morning of surgery he came in to chat with me and my husband, and the next day after the surgery he came in to see how I was doing.( i was sooo shocked cause he is a busy guy...lol)

You see I was originally suppose to have my sugery in April, but I experience some complications with the anesthesia... so this time around the Surgical and Anesthesia team wanted to make sure I was good fro surgery... They did everything in there power to make my sugery a "GO"... so here I am now just shy of 3 weeks post op and feeling great... Dr. Noel Williams(my surgeon) and Dr. Asish Sinha (my ansethesiologist) You guys are the BOMB, thanks for helping me in my journey to a healthy life...

Dr. Williams was wonderful. I saw him at my pre-op appointment and he answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. His staff is wonderful, and they all know their jobs very well. If you want a top notch surgeon and a very professional well trained staff, I would highly recommend the HUP program and Dr. Williams. If you are looking for a surgeon who will be personally available to you at all times, this isn't the program for you, but I feel that Dr. Williams is a fantastic surgeon, and what he should be doing is surgery! His practitioners are well qualified to provide patient care as well.

MY DOCTOR WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, ENGAGING & INFORMATIVE, EXUDING TOTAL CONFIDENCE. HE ILLUSTRATED THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT I KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WOULD BE DONE DETAILING ALL RISKS ALONG THE WAY. rnrnHIS STAFF WAS EXTREMELY EFFICIENT, SUPPORTIVE & EMPATHETIC -SHARING THE FEELINGS OF THEIR PATIENTS & OFFERING ENCOURAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. rnrnTHE AFTERCARE IS ADDRESSED THROUGH MONTHLY MEETINGS OF BARIATRIC PATIENTS, BOTH PRE- & POST-OP.rnrnI RATE HIM AS \"EXCELLENT\". WHILE BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE & BEDSIDE MANNER ARE BOTH GREAT, SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST. YOU DO NOT REALLY SEE THE DOCTOR DURING/AFTER SURGERY BECAUSE HIS SURGICAL TEAM IS VERY PROFICIENT IN PREPPING YOU FOR SURGERY & ACTUALLY OVERSEES YOUR FOLLOW-UP CARE WHILE IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER SURGERY.
