This doctor did nothing but waste my time. On the first visit, I told him I had previous hernia repair in my abdomen. He told me there was a chance I may not be able to have the surgery and wanted to see a CT scan. Ok, fair enough. I did mention to his staff that I did not want my time wasted. So if he felt based on the scan I could not have the surgery, to just tell me so I don't have to waste 35 dollars on another visit. They got back to me and told me he said he can do it. They sounded so optimistic as well. I go in for my second appointment and when he came in the room I could tell right away he did not sound very optimistic he could do the surgery. He claimed he could not really tell if he could or not based on the CT scan. So right away I felt mislead. Why did his staff make it sound like it was a probable thing to happen? So far this may be more his staff fault than his own giving me misinformation about the likelihood of surgery. However, he then decides to give me this physical exam to determine how high up my mesh was. It turns out it was too high up for him to probably be able to perform the surgery. And he told me it probably can't be done. I was crushed. Why did he not give me this physical exam on the first visit? My chances of surgery could have been determined after the first visit. There was no need to get my hopes up and have me waste money on a second visit. I know other people have had a positive experience with him. He is obviously very experienced and knows what he is doing. But in my experience, the process they put my through was terrible and a total waste of time and money. If you are like me where you had a hernia repair in your abdomen, I would strongly recommend not just another doctor, but another practice as well, so you don't get mislead like I was.

I have known this man for 6 years. I have found him to be uncaring and narcissistic. I had surgery and was horribly sick and he never once listened to me. His staff said I had an eating disorder and needed help. Shortly after that I had emergency surgery for a perforated bowel and nearly died. A year later zi almost died again with a perforated ulcer and emergency surgery. He blamed me for it. Six years later I am still sick and puke all the time and he thinks I am a cry baby. I told him next time I will not call 911 and just prefer to die! He does not listen to his patients and he thinks very story is a happy story. I am here to say they are not all happy stories and I will never go back there or recommend him!

Dr. Noel Williams changed my life. He offered me a surgery when a lot of people were not even having them yet. I lost over 150 lbs and have kept that weight off for over 10 years, thanks to Dr. Williams and his staff at the U of Penn. I am Philadelphia School Teacher and he was able to do my surgery in the summer with plenty of time for me to recover before returning to work. I am grateful everyday that he was able to help me with a problem I was suffering with since I was in the 8th grade. I now have 3 beautiful children and I am able and healthy to do all of the things I always wanted to do with them. Dr. William's office always takes the time to follow up and I honestly would recommend him to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

I had surgery with Dr. Williams in June 2005 and never took the opportunity to thank him for his expertise. My surgical experience and post op went without a hitch and recovery was effortless. I would like to lose another 15 or 20 pounds but that's on me. Because I live in Delaware, my primary physician has monitored my health which includes reduced cholesterol and sugar, superb blood pressure, less wear and tear on my joints, and excellent health. Thank you to Dr. Williams, his staff, and the Hospital of the University of PA.

Dr. Noel Williams is a excellent surgeon. From the beginning, I knew I was in good hands. He takes time with all his patients. He wont leave the room until you are comfortable. He is very informative. He thoroughly explained my procedure and answered all of my questions. The day of surgery he came to see me and made sure I was ok. I also got 2 more visits from him while in the hospital. My first post op appointment was great. He is very pleased with my progress. I am so happy I chose Dr. Noel Williams as my surgeon.

I went through the entire process and was approved for surgery and offered a surgery date and five minutes before the surgery is to get started Dr. Williams comes out and looks at my stomach again and says I cannot do your surgery. You need a gastric bypass and I do not have permission from the insurance company and sent me home.
The inquiry by the Medical Board of Pennsylvania completed its investigation of my cancelled surgery and the official reason for the cancellation was insurance issues: 1:. There was a payment dispute with Medicare about not getting paid and 2: If the insurance did not pay for the surgery, Dr. Williams would have been financially responsible for all the medical expenses of my surgery.
It would have been nice to have been informed prior to arriving at the hospital and not having to wait a year and file a complaint with the Medical Board to get an answer for my cancelled surgery since I could not get it from Dr. Williams or his staff dispite many attempts.

Dr. Williams was charming and very well recommended. I spent probably only 15 minutes talking with him prior to the surgery. However, the Univ. of Penn Bariatric program provides a great deal of information to their patients and I knew what to expect. I, therefore, had very few questions for him.rnrnI was pleased with the dietary staff and their support. Again, very adequate information was provided in advance. Support groups are offered on a monthly basis and appear to be well attended.

My first impression of Dr. Williams was being a professional and good at what he did as he was his office staff was great patient and reliable Dr. Williams emphasized aftercare to the fullest and insured me how important it really is.He came to see me first thing the morning after surgery to make sure I wasn't to uncomfortable and that my sutures were looking good in which they were I would recommend him to whoever wants a caring and nurturing surgeon who really cares about his patients and is not all about the money all of the time.

I highly recommend Dr. Williams. He is a very well respected surgeon in his field. He is friendly and caring and appears to truly have your best interest in mind. rnrnThe staff at HUP are AWESOME!!! Everyone you meet are professional, nice, caring and personable. Everything you do at HUP is well scripted and things flow so easily. They really know what they are doing which leaves very little follow up for you to do.
