Paul Ulich Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

No longer doing gastric by-pass surgery due to malpractice insurance issues...nothing to do with actual malpratice but the tremendous increase in the practice's insurance rates if they continued to do gastric by-pass surgery. Dr. Ulich is a fantastic physician and surgeon and continues to do my follow up.

I had Dr. Ulich for another surgery before my gastric by-pass. He is terrific!!!!

Mine has not, he is just the same as he has always been. TERRIFIC...

Dr. Ulich is no longer doing the WLS. I am very sad about this but, because of the high cost of malpractice insurance he can no longer do it.

Both are great.

My first impression was not especially positive or negative. He seems technically competent. The office staff has also not impressed with me being helpful or consistent. I'm told one thing by one person and something else by the next. The surgeon did adddress the risks of surgery in a group meeting. These are simply my impressions after my initial consultation.

After surgery I would say that my surgeon took all the time I needed to answer questions and give information. He was conservative with treatment, but thorough. I would recommend him to others.

The office staff continues as stated above in my opinion. One nurse I talked to about a complication was nice, but did not answer the questions I was asking and the insurance person was less than helpful.

I will say first and foremost that Dr. Ulich is very professional and did address every aspect of surgery good, and bad.He does at least 2-8 surgeries weekly. I feel very comfortable with him. Probably the worst thing I can say is he's a bit "unfriendly" very businesslike, but not unapproachable.
I would reccomend him to anyone interested in Weight Loss Surgery.

Dr. Ulich is the second Bariatric surgeon I've interviewed. I decided to use him for three main reasons: the hospital is much closer to home, I've had surgery in that hospital twice, and I liked the support group better than the first one.
My first impression of Dr Ulich was that he is very professional and extremely thorough. He does 2-3 bariatric surgeries per week, so is skilled at this type of surgery and also maintains proficiency in other types of surgeries, which I think is important. Overall, I have confidence in him, his ability and interest (in obesity issues)and the hospital.
He didn't seem as "friendly" (bedside manner)as some doctors I've seen, but I approached him in a business-like manner and I feel he responded to my attitude with the same, and I don't need Marcus Welby (some of you are too young to remember the "warm and fuzzy" TV doctor (actor). Dr Ulich was not unfriendly, rude, patronizing or intimidating and that is what counts.

I first met Dr. Ulich on Febrary 5. I already knew him because he performed surgery on my sister. He is a very personable doctor. He explained my surgery and I felt at ease since he had also did my sister's. The office staff were very helpful in setting up all my appointments and making me feel at ease. He has a structured aftercare and he makes sure his patients are following it. I would rate him on a scale of 1-10: a 10.

my first impression of Dr. Ulich was that he was a friendly person who took the time to explain the proceedured to me fully. He thought that I has researched this throughly and know the risks and benefits, I would recomend any one to go and speak with him and his staff. Lenita, is very helpful both in the office and on the phone and i really am impressed with this Doctor and his Staff.
Any future patients should know that this doctor really cares about the patient and thier care! Ihave been to many Doctors and this one rates A+++++ I can't fully express how impressed i am with him and his staff.
i did all my homework and had all the information to make this visit go smoothly as possible. very slow on the paper work to insurance company 4 weeks to be sent in to the insurance .
