He's no longer at the Barix clinic, he went on to be a priest.

He set me up with one of his co-workers which now they aren't there either.
Very by the book. Told risks of surgery

8-9

Has no bedside manner. He is great as a surgeon though and that was what mattered to me. The hospital stay sucked I would never recommend anyone to go there for a stay.

I thought my surgeon was a very nice man seemed compassionate enough and didnt seem to be any doubt in his mind that this would work for me, sorry to say that I learned after my 1 yr visit that he was leaving the Barriatric clinic to pursue other things elsewhere.

I had my surgery at the Barriatric center in Ypsilanti Mich, I thought that it was a VERY nice place full of kind and compassionate people and very clean,a place that I would recomend to someone thinking of having this procedure done.

Dr Peter explained everything to me and my husband on the first counceltation and answered any questions we had.

I think his sugerical compitance was good and his bedside manner.

I really didnt have any negative expierences with this dr or this facility, but I think maybe because I lived so far from it I felt disconected.even though they were really good about calling up and checking up on me, after a while it seemed I had a hard time acsessing anyone who would give me the support I wanted at the time.

He takes his work seroiusly. His explanations of the surgical procedure were extremely detailed. During all of my visits, he expressed the importance of follow-up care. He answered all of my questions, even the trivial ones, professionally and completely.
The staff at BTC,Ypsilanti have always been personable and proficient.

Dr. Bistolarides is very busy like but seemed genuinely concerned about my high blood pressure. I did not see him originally but my other doctor is no longer with BTC. So I met him and I hope that it all goes well. He is chief of staff and that should count for something.

Dr. B did a fantastic job with my surgery. I am impressed by his knowledge of bariatric surgery and his professional attitude. Smart but not arrogant. Very clear and direct about the surgery, and what he expects from me. His staff does a great job with the exception of one nurse who is a total grouch. At the support group I attend almost all of them were complaining about her.

He expects all his patients to make their aftercare appointments.

Dr. B clearly explained the surgical procedure as well the risks associated with it. He pulled no punches, which I expect from him.

His bedside manner is quite typical of most good doctors. He has quite the dry sense of humor but I like it.

Overall I would have to say he was an excellent doctor for me. I know I would would recommend him to my friends.

I am very happy with Dr. B's work.

Dr. Bistolarides was very kind, considerate and explained the surgery very clearly. He took his time, listened to our questions and concern and was not in a hurry as so many Doctors are now days.

Everyone I have met and talked to at BTC in Ypsilanti has been wonderful.

My surgery is scheduled for February 19, 2003. I don't have all the facts on the after care yet, but I know I will know more when I meet with him after the surgery.

Dr. Bistolarides explained the risks of the surgery, but there are risks with any surgery. I have thought about this surgery for over a year now and I have done a lot of research and feel that this is the best option for me. It definitely is not the easy way out as some people think. It took a lot of courage and support from my family to make this life-changing decision.

I had my initial consult with Dr. B in August, 2002. He was very professional, explained how the surgery worked, made me aware of potential problems. Have not seen him since August, so nothing has changed. He came highly recommended by 3 people, one of which I knew very well, the other two were new acquaintances. His staff was very friendly, but they seemed a bit disorganized. They were also sympathetic to the discomfort their disorganization caused me. I had to wait for quite a while to see the doctor, was moved from room to room, their rooms were COLD! But on the other side of the coin, they said I had had enough discomfort for one day and did not charge me for the initial consultation. You can feel a bit better when you walk out with as much cash as you arrived with!
I can't say I disliked anything about Dr. B.
We seemed to have a good connection from the start. BTC's aftercare seems great, but of course, I haven't been thru it all yet. From reputation alone, I rate Dr. B very highly.

Dr. Bistolarides seemed like a very no nonsense type of guy. He is very knowlegable. He asked several times if we had any questions. I am not quite sure about his bedside manner. But as far as knowing and caring about this surgery, he definitally has that. He also took the time to explain the risk involved, and the persentage associated with that. The hospital staff is very friendly. They just seemed to treat you with a lot of respect, and they have earned mine. I am scheduled to go into my pre assesment soon, and with that we will meet for nutrition information, and also after care. Which he said is extremely important. So far over all, I would rate the Ypsalanti facility and Dr. Bistolarides with a 9. I believe so far his surgical competence is his best quality. Which if push comes to shove, that is what is important anyway. But his bedside manner maybe differently with surgery and aftercare.

I first met Dr. Bistolarides about 4 years ago when I was first interested in getting the surgery. At that time I was around 250 pounds and wearing maybe a size 16/18. My first impression of Dr. Bistolarides was that he was very professional and straight to the point. I wasn't afraid to ask him questions. I think I sorta offended him because I asked him if he'd get the surgery. Yeah he was a little thick in the waist but it was like asking a waitress would she eat an item on the menu. He maitained his friendly attitude though.

I met with the Dr. again this past November ('02). I am now 330-340 and wearing a 22/24 in pants and a 26/28 in shirts. He was still very friendly and professional. Because our first meeting was so long ago, he didn't remember me. I opted not to refresh his memory with recanting my previous question. He was still nice. He explained the procedure again. He talked about the stay, asked about my medical history and told me the various risks of surgery. It was even more comforting to know that he had been performing bariatric surgeries for seveal years. I believe he's the top doctor there. I am confident in having him!
