Dr. Lalor seems like a very competent doctor. I met him once at the seminar and another time at my evaluation. He is good about listening to you and answering all of your questions. He told me because of my BMI I should get the RNY and I told him I was looking at getting the sleeve. He said it was up to me and told me the differences that would occur with each. I'm not sure about bedside manner yet, but from what I read he is very good with that.
He said the cost of the surgery came with 90 days after post-op visits and such. I mentioned something to him about having a clothing library like OSU does and he thought it was a great idea.

My first impression of this surgeon Dr. Lalor was that he is not so much a people person. There were times he seemed to be ok and then times he was just like he was in a hurry. I have only met him 2 times. The first time was for the seminar that is required to attend before going any further. After that, I met him one on one and he seemed to really care for the most part. rnrnThe office staff is wonderful from the ones I met anyways. A friend of mine had the surgery with Dr. Lalor and that is how I heard about him and I was also told that his staff is really awesome.... and I think so also from what I can tell.rnrnThe thing I liked the least about him was that he said that I had to lose weight before he would even consider operating on me. But, this is for safety reasons and I understand.I just wished he didn't have to. rnrnFrom my understanding, Dr. Lalor will make just about anyone going through this lose weight before he will do the surgery to prove to him that the patient really wants this. This is what he told me anyways.rnrnHe is very persistent about aftercare. He makes sure he tells you and you understand it is just as important to have the aftercare needed to continue with the weight loss and the safety of the patient.rnrnI am not sure if he has a structured aftercare program, but with him being as persistent as he is, I would say he does have one.rnrnHe addressed the risks of the surgery right off the bat. Then when he was done, he asked if there was any questions. You then had a little quiz to fill out to make sure you understood the risks. rnrnSo far I would have to rate Dr. Lalor at a 5. Only because I really do not know him.rnrnBoth surgical competence and bedside manner are great. If I had to choose though which was more important, I would have to choose surgical competence. If they did not know what they were doing, it could kill a person a lot faster than what it could if they knew what they were doing.

I thought Dr. Lalor was well informed about the procedures and outcomes of the surgeries he performs. Met with Dr. quite a few times before surgery and felt well informed about surgery and what to expect. His office staff has always been professional and helpful. He presented a very consistent bedside manner and was there to check on my progress at least twice each day. Dr. Lalor explained things in a very understanding manner to my family. I was not particularly impressed with the hospital staff during my stay, particularly the staff in the evening and night hours. I felt they were lacking in compassion. Nurse during day was very understanding and helpful with getting nutrition reintroduced.

My first impression of Dr. Lalor was a very good one. He was very informative at the seminar about the different types of weight loss surgeries. I came to the seminar to learn about ther lap band because that is what I thought I would have. Dr. Lalor discussed all the risks and benefits of each surgery and I learned a lot. I decided that the lap band was not for me. I set up an appointment with Dr. Lalor. I was trying to decide whether to have RNY or VSG surgery and was having a difficult time making up my mind. My insurance approved me for RNY but I was really leaning more towards VSG...but would have to be a self pay for that surgery.rnI made an appointment to talk with Dr. Lalor to discuss which surgery would be best for me. He was very patient and answered all my questions. He said I would do well with either of the surgeries and that I was the one that had to be satisfied with my decision. I decided on the VSG and had my surgery on March 30, 2009. Dr. Lalor did an excellent job and I had no complications. I am very pleased with my decision to have Dr. Lalor as my surgeon. I would recommend Dr. Lalor to anyone considering have weight loss surgery.

He's straight forward and to the point. At first I was a little put-off by this. But after time, I realized that this straight-forward attitude of his was what I needed to keep myself on track. His office staff are wonderful! Especially his nurse, Deb. She is just a darling! rnrnDr. Lalor is great surgeon. He explains everything thoroughly. He gave me the exact reasons why he felt that a sleeve gastrectomy was better for me than a bypass. At 399#'s to start, I needed to take the long way around, which was fine. He gave me all the reasons why he chose that surgery, and what the benefits would be for me.

I first meet Dr. Lalor at one of his workshops. I had been looking for a doctor for at least 2 years and I first thought....he is really young.

However, I know you can not judge anything by appearance or age. Once he began educating us on all of the procedures I felt confident.

As I have begun on the journey and getting ready for surgery I have to say that Dr. Lalor and his staff have made me feel like a human being.

I had started the preparation with another surgeon, however, it was a rush job. With Dr. Lalor he as a process that takes at least three months even if you are self pay and he sticks to it. I liked that. I appreciated not feeling like another number and making sure we had crossed all of our "T's" and dotted all of our "I's".

My first impression was that he was very young and I wondered how much experience he had. After meeting him I found he was very competent in dealing with people who genuinely wanted to lose weight. His staff was always helpful and had answers to my questions. They are quite friendly. I was a little disappointed in how long I had to wait to see him when I had an appointment but most doctors run behind schedule sometimes. I think future patients should know they will be in good hands and he does has quite an impressive background in bariatric surgery. He is a great believer in support groups and helping the patient after the surgery with motivation. Dr. Lalor covered all the risks of surgery well at the seminar and answered all my questions and concerns at our first meeting. I would give him a 9 rating on a 1 to 10 scale. You won't be sorry if you choose him as your surgeon. He definitely is a great surgeon with a wonderful beside manner.

dr lalor was a breathe of fresh air after having a very frustrating time with a privious , dr and staff. from the very first presentation, i felt at home and comfortable with him and all of his staff. they not only have your chart they remember you as a person, your kids and the things that stand out about you. Dr Lalor is very up front, he tells you the truth as he see it not just saying what he believes you want to hear. DR lalor emphasizes exercise, and that no matter how much help you need or get, the amount of success you achieve is totally up to you. i am very happy with the after car and the easy i feel knowing if i have questions or concerns, the staff and drlalor are just a phone call away. i feel i learned so much more from dr lalors presentation and was impressed that he was in attendence, him self. not just the supporting staff. i learned about more risk, and felt we had a very clear line of communication. i would recommend dr lalor and his entire staff as well as the hospital personal, to anyone and every one! so many times we have limited options , in the drs we can see . its rare to have both skill, personality and compassion all in one. i couldnt ask for more. and i was surprised to find the support group so very helpful. theres alot to be learned just by sitting back and listening. ok now the negs... i would like more comfortable beds lol, my size or my wight on my frame and the extra days made it rougher then i would have liked, i experienced a lot of extra little achs and pains. i also had trouble with the milky type drinks and shakes even in the hospital they were not good. . cleaning ladys cleaning supplys were a bit strong, but my room was kept very very clean.

Dr Lalor is a very friendly surgeon. His office staff are great. I saw him frequently during my hospital stay which was comforting. I would say his surgical competence and bedside manner are both great!

Dr. Peter Lalor is a very skilled professional and a patient focused healer. (I've worked in the senior levels of health care administration for my entire adult career and can say that I generally hold physicians and their condescending manner in relative low regard. I appreciate their skills and dedication, it's the attitude of many that offends me. None of this was/is the case with Dr. Lalor.) rn rnMy sister, a RN for many years thinks that his younger age and more recent training have encouraged a more patient focused, easy going attitude. I believe it's just the personality of the man. Either way, now on this side of the health care system, it was refreshing to have a physician speak plainly, speak honestly, keep his commitments and nurture the patient back to optimum health. I must report that a few of the hospital staff nurses mentioned that Dr. Lalor can be difficult to work with at times. Probably true of most surgeons.rnrnThe office staff is simply wonderful. His nurse Deb and the Dietitians have all been extremely supportive. (In a perfect world, the staff would benefit from an in-house psychology professional)rnrnThe facilities at The Wood County Hospital were more than satisfactory. The \"small town\" hospital feel, with friendly, attentive nurses, was very refreshing.rnrnBottom line, if you live in Northwest Ohio or Southern Michigan - Dr. Lalor is your guy!
