I liked and was very confident in my surgeon, Dr. Huber. I put my life in his hands and I felt he took very good care of me. If I had it to do all over again, I would and I would choose him again.

My first impression of my Surgeon was a good one. Very comforting and up front.
My impression has not changed,
The office staff could have been a bit more friendlier on the phone. But in person They seemed to be different people..Dr. Phillip Huber advised me of everything to look foward to and all the bad things that could happen if the rules were not followed correctly. Yes we did discuss all aftercare procedures. For now I feel very comfortable with my Dr. He is a cute Dr. He wears a Bow tie.. From what I understand.. This is his trademark.. He is well known at St.Paul Medical Center... he highly stresses excersize and Protein for after care.. He couldn't stress that enough...

I had my initial office visit with Dr. Frances Veninga on 2/13/02. I already knew of him because we had worked in the same hospital in the past. I had great respect for his work as a general surgeon and had just become aware of his change to only bariactric surgery. He was in many ways the man I remembered, just more mature..always a plus in a surgeon. He's knowledgeable, kind, honest and open. He was also very unpretentious. And as I'd known him previously, he had a quirky sense of humor. He assured me I'd have a complication just because I was another health care provider. I understand that sense of the inevitable. We laughed and went on. His staff for the most part was delightful. One nursing type personnel couldn't seem to work the scale which I thought was weird. He invited me to go to an auxillary office where he kept an electronic scale. I was informed and encouraged to attend the informational seminar and follow-up aftercare group the next Thursday. I was looking forward to working with this man until 3-11-02, when we found out , regretfully, that he was closing his practice for personal reasons. Needless to say, I'm saddened. I'm now restarting my search for a surgeon. **********************************************DR. PHILLIP HUBER*************** At my church there is a professor of abdominal surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He highly recommended Dr. Phillip Huber. We have a new date for an intitial interview of June 11th. May the clock tick quickly!

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH DR. HUBER. HE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING IN DETAIL AND DOES NOT MIND SPENDING AN EXTRA FEW MINUTES ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND DRAWING IT OUT ON PAPER.. I AM VERY PLEASE SO FAR.. MY BIG DAY IS MARCH 7TH.. YES TOMORROW I AM VERY SCARED BUT FEEL GOOD I AM IN DR. HUBER'S HANDS... I TOO HAVE THOUGHT HIS STAFF COULD BE A LITTLE MORE CURTIOUS TO PATIENTS , BECAUSE WITHOUT US THEY MAY NOT HAVE A JOB.. WISH ME LUCK I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON RECOVERY.. TAMMIE

Dr Huber is great. He really takes the time to explain and make sure you understand what you are getting into. I am in good hands. The wait time for the appt. is the worst part.

Dr Huber was absolutely fantastic. He is such a sweet person. He totally open and upfront. He leaves no questions unanswered. He truly cares and wants what is best for his patients. The staff members were ok and helpful. I have already referred about 4 people to see him, that is just how impressed I was with him. He stressed the importance of aftercare and me having someone around to help after the surgery. He thoroughly explained the risks involved and also educated me on the 2 patients that he has lost and what the causes were. I am confident that through God, Dr Huber will do an excellent job with my surgery.

As the old saying goes "first impression are lasting impressions." I was very impressed on my fisrt meeting with Dr. Huber. He has a cheerful personality and he answered all my questions as well as asked me some. He was very polite during his examination of me. He explained the procedure in detail and told me what I could expect afterwards, as well as any possile complicatios. He also was the one to tell me about this web site. He emphasized after care as he stated this was not a quick fix solution, but would require a lifetime change.

He is very kind, very honest and straight forward with information and his own successes and failures. His office staff is why I chose to make my consultation appt with Dr Huber. He sat down next to me and gave me what he calls Roux en Y 101. At this point with my journey I would rate Dr Huber very high.

Dr. Huber is a wonderful doctor, a caring person, and quite funny. He wears bow ties. All the time.
I have attended support group meetings with my husband, who had surgery on 3/29/00, and had almost decided to go with his surgeon, Dr. David Provost, even though I would have to wait for almost 6 months before I could get an appointment. One evening, Dr. Provost had another commitment, and Dr. Huber took over the meeting. His humor and personality, as well as his reputation (no-leak record), plus the fact that he could get me in within a couple of months made my decision very easy.
When I went for my initial visit, he very clearly explained the procedure and drew pictures to illustrate the procedure. I was also impressed that I could actually read his hand writing!

He was very up front with the dangers and with the fact that he had lost one patient. He explained exactly what had happened and how he has changed his procedure to prevent that from ever happening again.

I would rate him highly.

His office staff is nice, but the nurse who handles paperwork tends to call and upset me with "problems" before she has followed through with all that she can do to handle them. I have spent time and resources at work trying to track down information that she has already gotten by the time I can call her back. I don't think she likes that aspect of her job. Otherwise, she seems to be pleasant and competent.

I just had my appointment with Dr. Huber (September 2001). He lived up to the reputation of being compassionate and very knowledgable. Dr. Huber came highly recommended to me by my personal physician and highly recommended by several post ops and after meeting with him, I can concur. Some data (as it exists currently): Dr. Huber only does the open procedure. If you are set on lap RNY you will have to look elsewhere. His office staff and nurse (Debbie) also lived up to the glowing reports - they were extremely helpful and seemed very concerned about people undergoing this procedure. It appears as if there is roughly a two month wait after having the consultation and getting insurance approval before a surgery date is set - although this would obviously vary depending upon individual circumstances. I can definitely recommend Dr. Huber and his offices to anyone who is contemplating WLS. I will post more information regarding surgery, after care etc. post surgery.
