R. Walker Byars Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My first impression of him was really a great impression he is caring and up front. He will go over anything you need to talk about and will help you in any way. His office staff is great and respectful, very nice. I think patients need to know that he is upfront and honest. He will continue to tell you how well you are doing or if your not doing. He is very good and has a after program that he puts you on. He talked about the risks of the program and explained different things to me. I would say he is the best for me and I really do appreciate him and his work. He has a wonderful bedside manner and his surgical work on me was excellent. I would recommend him to anyone. He is great. I want to thank him so much for all the help he is giving me. He is excellent and I do not have any negative things to say about him.. I really like his work and the way he treats people. He is caring and considerate but he is honest. I like that..

Excellent surgeon and good bedside manners. He is very knowledgable and concerned. I had a 9:30 surgery scheduled and he came in and started the surgery at 8:00. The pain is much less than I expected but it is there. I have lots of pressure from the gas he inflated me with but not what I expected. Surgery was performed as an outpatient and I was home by noon. Baptist Hospital in Oxford,MS is an excellent facility and the staff is great. Room was spacious and clean and surgery ward was very high-tech looking. If you are trying to get approval, text me and I will give you contact information of the insurance lady. She had my approval in 2 weeks and I didn't have to do any legwork chasing history or anything!! This is first class facility and even gave my wife a lunch voucher so she wouldn't spend her money!!

Dr. Byars is an awesome doctor. He is polite and he really seems to be genuine. What I like most about him is his willingness to let you talk during the office visits. He takes his time and listens to you.rnrnThe office staff is wonderful. These ladies are really on the job. I always feel so priviledged when I visit the office. rnrnMy surgery is scheduled for 11/08/04.rnrnDr. Byars let me waffle four years before he put his foot down and told me to stick with my restriction. I was so mad at him. But it was the best thing that he could have done. I have now lost 100+ lbs. rnrnHe is such a nice man. I am sure that it bothered him to confront me. But I am so glad that he did. rnrn

My first impression of Dr. Byars was that he was very professional, but also down to Earth and easy to talk to. I was very comfortable talking with him. He was very informative, and everyone in his office was very nice and friendly. I have been pleased with the aftercare I have received. All of my questions about what to expect before, during, and after were answered, along with the risks and benefits of the surgery. The nurses have always been very helpful answering any questions I have had post-op. My experience with Dr. Byars and his staff has been a positive one. I would definately recommend Dr. Byars to anyone who is thinking about having any type of gastric surgery.

I met with Dr. Byars for the first time on May 21. The entire staff was so nice! As for Dr. Byars, he is the most caring physician I have ever been to. He makes you feel as if you are the only patient he has to see that day. He listened to all my questions and did not try to rush through. Wonderful experience. I look forward to my surgery and I feel like I am in great hands!

I MET WITH DR. BYARS ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22. HE IS GREAT! HE SAT DOWN AND TALKED TO ME. IT WAS LIKE I WAS THE ONLY PATIENT HE HAD TO SEE. HE ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS. I AM HAVING LAP BAND SURGERY ON MARCH 6, 2008. I KNOW THAT I HAVE THE BEST DOCTOR TO DO THE JOB! HE IS TRULY GOD SENT. ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, HE IS A 10 NO DOUBT!

My first impression of Dr. Byars was \"I believe I am going to be in good hands\". He was personable...really down-to-earth, explained in-depth about the process...pros & cons, was encouraging and offered insight into some \"bumps along the way\" that many people experience. Office staff was really nice...told me to call back with any questions at all. Dr. Byars emphasized the importance of both aftercare and risks associated. How would I rate him overall? Well, I've only had one meeting, but was impressed right away with his manner, courtesy he extended to my husband and myself in answering our questions, and genuiness he displayed. This doctor doesn't talk at you, but to you, and the respect he showed was appreciated. For me, surgical competence + bedside manner = great!! Here I goooo.......!

It has been 3 years since my LapBand surgery and everything is going great. I am weighing around 118 - 120 pounds and I am still losing weight. I recently had cosmetic surgery done in Flowood, MS and I am trying to recover from that before getting back to losing weight. I would like to weigh around 110 pounds. I 100% recommend LapBand Surgery. Anyone that ask me if I would do it again...My response is in a \"heart beat\". The surgery has changed my life. I no longer feel tired all the time or depressed. Dr. Byars and his staff are incredible.

I was very pleased with Dr. Byars. Have not one thing bad to say. I was able to have my consult and scheduled my surgery that day in 2 weeks. I also find his nurse extremely helpful and willing to answer your questions in a timely manner.

I am very satisfied with Dr. Byars. He has great bedside manners and sits and listens to you. He is young though, but I felt totally comfortable with him doing my surgery.
