Rhonda Wachsmuth Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I work in medical and I talk with physicians daily. I thought Dr. Wachsmuth was wonderful. As a physician she was extremely informative and thorough. She cautioned me of all the risks and informed me that this surgery is not a cure for obesity, but an aid. Two things that really impressed me with her was one, when she spoke of the Lord during our first consultation and throughout our visits and two when she asked me if I had a good support group. She told me that I would need a good support group to get me through this surgery and she was so right. Her beside manner was terrific. The last thing I remember was seeing her eyes and hearing her voice right before I closed my eyes in the operating room. I can't say enough about her. Her office staff was great and very helpful also. They are just as excited about the weight loss as the patient. As far as my physician I wouldn't change a thing about her. I've had three friends to have the same surgery with the same doctor and they all love her too.

doctor is wonderfu, she is very straight to the point! my impression about her was and still is very good. she is very detailed . the thing I like most about her is the way she still acts down to earth. She treats you like you are one of her family members.she will stress that you do just as she says if your not willing then she want do the surgery. she has avery structured aftercare program.the only bad thing i would say is her nurse susie is a little harsh at times everyone else was wonderful.

My first impression of Dr Wachsmuth is that she is a GOD fearing women and that she does what she does because she cares. The only thing that I did not like about her office is that they are over worked. Sometimes they did not respond quickly to some of my needs. But overall I think that she is very good

The first time I met Dr. Wachsmuth she made
me feel very comfortable. She answered all
my questions thoroughly and did not hesitate
to tell me the pros and cons about the
surgery. She is a very compassionate Dr.
She encourages you every step of the way.
I saw her for my preop on Sept 11, 2001. THe
one thing that let me be at total peace about
this is that she spoke of the Lord and
acknowledged that without him she could not
go in that operating room. I knew then that
she was a good christian lady and that God
was walking before her. I again speak very
highly of her and her staff for all their
support.
09/25/01---I am one week post op and I feel
great....other than problems with sleeping.
Dr Wachsmuth was a God Send. She came in and
monitered me each day after the surgery and
always had something encouraging to say. I
d0n't see her again for a couple of weeks so
I will update after my post-op visit.

I love her! My impression got better with every meeting. Her office staff is excellent and knows how to wrangle the insurance companies.
Dr Wachsmuth is compasionate, intelligent and a christian.
She is really stressing total care. I am on a preop diet, and she moniters post op very closely.
The appointment process seemed tedious at first, her paperwork package (just to get an appointment) is very daunting. In fact it put me off at first. However, when you realize the volume of people they deal with she needs something in place to be selective. Once I met her I loved her instantly!

Rhonda was very nice ,informative, and understood my battle with weight
It may take time to get insurance approval ...try to be patient but keep checking on it because they are very busy!
Rhonda is very informative and gives you paperwork along with explaining everything.
Remember to have a family member help you get instructions after surgery because I was to droggy to remember.I made some innocent but possibly dangerous mistakes with what I could drink and eat! I am very thankfull to Dr. W! She has made my life worth living,to the fullest, I feel like a new person! HECK...I AM.. I have lost 98 lb since I first visited her office.
Dr W is a very special person because she helps people with breast cancer and severe obesity- A BIG THANK YOU TO HER FROM HER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES! A note about SUSIE (Dr.W nurse). She is a really upbeat person who always has a smile on her face. I look forward to seeing both of them during my visits. They both give you encouragement when you need it!

My first impresion of Dr. Rhonda was great... she took plenty of time to talk to me and thoroughly explained all the surgery would entail. I was very impressed that she offered me many names of previous patients (with their permission) and their numbers, so that I could contact them . I contacted them all, and they were all highly suppotive of Dr. R. as well. Some of the patients told me to ask if she would be in town all during my hospital stay, because her associates were not as impressive as her. Some patients mentioned that the aftercare could be better, with more detailed nutritional information given to post-op patients... they suggested asking Dr. R. to write orders to be seen by a nutritionist while I'm in the hospital and that way I'd get all the info I needed to help with my post-op eating.
There is no support group, but Dr.R. has no problem with her patients joining a structured aftercare program offered elsewhere in our area... this is what I'm planning on doing.
This surgeon is very informative about the risks of surgery while at the same time being very reassuring. When I asked her how to get over my nerves, she said she'd be concerned if I wasn't nervous... that showed that I was an intelligent person with lots of knowlege about what I was undertaking.
I've heard great things about both her surgical competence as well as her bedside manner.
As far as her staff is concerned, they've been great. Dr. R.'s nurse , Susie, has been tremendously helpful at trying to schedule my surgery date in conjunction with my job as a teacher. My first date was June 14 and had to be rescheduled due to a miscommunication with a cardiologist and the anesthesiologist. Susie was right back in there trying to get a new date for me as soon as she could.

I last saw Dr. Wachsmuth in May,2000. I won't see her again until 7/31 with my surgery scheduled for 8/9. I liked her when I saw her the first time as she took a lot of time with me explaining the surgery and answering questions. She did comment that she could tell I had done a lot of research before coming to see her.
I'm anxious to see her again and have her refresh my memory on her entire procedure.

My first impressions of Rhonda told me right away that
I wanted her to be my surgeon as I took this valuable path
towards good health again. I have since heard about
surgeons who don't follow up with their patients and thats
one thing I like about Rhonda is her monthly followup checks.
I lost 73 pounds in the first 63 days but then slacked off
and haven't actually weighed myself in several weeks.
