I met with Dr. Clements yesterday for my consultation. He was running about four hours late due to some complications with a gastric bypass surgery he was involved with. While waiting, several of his patients talked with me and told me how much they really like him. When I finally got to see him I was really impressed with him and immediately felt at ease. I thought he might be hurried with me since he was running late, but that wasn't the case. He fully explained the pro's and con's of the surgery and was very adamant about his aftercare program. He told me to go home and discuss the surgery with my family and make an appointment to come back if I wanted to go ahead. I told him I had already researched and talked about it for the past two months and was ready to proceed, so I am going to go ahead with scheduling. I found his office staff to be great. The receptionists were very warm and friendly and so was his nurse, Ann. Wanda, the insurance lady was very helpful also. I have complete confidence in him as a surgeon and look forward to the surgery.

April 14 - I am post-op now and would like to say I rate Dr. Clements a 10+. He is a highly skilled, warm, wonderful & caring surgeon. He called me at home to see how I was doing which meant alot to me. I would recommend him to anyone, I can't say enough good things about him.

2/20/01.. it has been over a month since my visit with Dr. Clements, whom I found to be very professional and caring... within a week I had faxed the office manager ALL my papers (other MDs letters and tests results)
AGAIN this week, I call and AGAIN I am assured that his letter will be typed and sent to BCBS... I have heard this 3 times and YET to have gotten any results...
4/3/01 My second appointment with Dr. Clements... Again, he displayed compassion, professionalism, and took time to answer ALL my questions (I had a LONG list.. LOL).. My confidence in him is overwhelming...

Dr.Clements was very caring and seemed to want me to make sure I really wanted this surgery. His nurse Ann was also very sweet. They did not make me feel out of place.

My first impression of Dr. Clements was that he was very caring and eager to help me with my weight problem. (This is refreshing after having doctors look down their noses at me regarding my weight for so many years.)

His office staff were polite most of the time but I question some of their approval procedures. After my initial visit, I had two sleep studies done. Starting in November, I called every week to see if my medical records had been received from my family doctor or if I could assist in getting the information. They were always "working on it." After 3-4 calls, the office simply told me "Don't call back until after the holidays because these things take time." After Christmas, I called back to check the status of my files only to be told that my release had not even been sent to my family doctor. It had already been two months and I had called four times asking if I could help get the information. Boy, was I "NOT" a happy camper!! Once the information was sent, it took three weeks to get my history files copied and I personally faxed them to Dr. Clement's office.

From there I took matters into my own hands. I called the insurance company 2-3 times per week and was able to learn (first hand) of a denial and fax the additional information they needed to reevaluate my case. In all, it took the insurance five weeks to issue my approval. However, had I left it to my doctor's office to handle this via mail, it would have taken over three months. Therefore, it pays to stay on top of things.

Surgery is scheduled for March 19th and I am very excited.

I was very impressed by Dr. Clements' manner. He was very personable and made me very comfortable on my first visit. He is attentive in answering all questions. My first post-op visit was also a good experience. The office staff is lacking. The process for surgery is very long. The office seems to be understaffed. I called for my appointment in October was seen in November, was denied by my insurance in late December, appealed and had surgery in February. I consider my story a success. A good friend of mine called in late October, was seen in mid November and to this day her insurance company has not even recieved her request for surgery. Her file was misplaced for a couple of months in the office.

Dr. Clements' heavily emphasizes aftercare.

Risks of surgery are covered in detail.

Overall, I really like Dr. Clements.

He has both excellent bedside manner and surgical competence.

He is very nice. He spent a long time talking to me (about 45 min.) He didnt once rush me or act like he was in a hurry to see his next patient. I am very impressed with him. I was alittle surprised at how young he looks but, youth doesnt mean the doctor isnt good. His office staff was very friendly and helpful. His nurse is just as sweet and friendly as she can be. Overall, I am very impressed so far with everything.

Dr. Clements was very friendly and told it like it was about he surgery. He required me to get a phyco exam. Which I pasted. It took longer to get that than any of my other test{GTT]. His office staff are very nice. Ask question I carried a list and he answered all of them. He is a well educated Doctor someone I want to be own my bedside if something went wrong. Very confident Doctor. HIS BEDSIDE MANNER IS GREAT FOR ME. Morning rounds were farely early. HE DOES NOT LET YOU LAY IN PAIN.
