He's extremely pleasant, cheerful and willing answer any questions. My impression has only improved over time. His staff is friendly and helpful. After waiting 3 weeks and not hearing from the insurance co. they faxed new letter and request for surgery with no complaints. We had an answer within a couple of weeks. He's very busy and only in the office 2 1/2 days a week. He discussed the surgery fully and even had a video to watch explaining the surgery, how it worked, what it did, what was done and possible risks. He doesn't seem to have a structured aftercare program but does encourage support groups and counseling if after surgery depression is a problem. Bedside manner is great. Surgery was not a problem. He used a new "pain modifier" called a pain ball. It is a small catheter inserted into the abdominal wound which injects pain medicine into the wound automatically for about three days. No pain!!! I expected to be in agony. NONE!!. I used no pain medication after I came home. The retension sutures were uncomfortable but when they came out one week after the surgery I felt 90% better. Staples come out on Wednesday (15 days)
I was at St. Anthony's Hospital. This was my only negative impression. Nursing was extremely busy and I felt more nurses would have been a help.

I had my consultation with Dr. Russell Hanan in Oklahoma City, Ok. I was very impressed with him. He was full of compassion and very well educated in the biatric surgery field. My consultation consisted of just 1 hour of visiting with Dr. Hanan and him explaining the surgery and what it consisted of and what to expect. Again, I was very impressed with him. I would definetly recommend him to anyone.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH MY FIRST AND SO FAR ONLY VISIT WITH HIM. HIS OFFICE PERSONAL WERE CURTEOUS AND HELPFUL. HE DID TAKE THE TIME TO GIVE ME AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE ON THE PROCEDURE (INCLUDING THE NEGATIVE THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN) SO THAT I COULD MAKE A FULLY INFORMED DECISION ON HAVING THE SURGERY OR NOT. WHAT I LIKED THE MOST IS HE WAS THE FIRST DR. THAT I CAN EVER REMEMBER THAT DID NOT TREAT ME LIKE I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG OR THAT I WAS A BAD PERSON. I FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY, A FIRST FOR ME. DR. HANAN HAS A QUIET MANNER AND IS VERY SOFT SPOKEN. I WALKED OUT OF HIS OFFICE FEELING LIKE I HAD FINALLY MADE THE RIGHT DECISION AND I FEEL SECURE IN DECIDING TO HAVE HIM AS MY SURGEON. HIS STAFF HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN RESUBMITTING THE REQUEST FOR SURGERY EVEN THOUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY KEEPS SAYING THEY HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT YET. BUT WE'LL KEEP ON TRYING.
