So far I only met Dr. Raper once that was during my initial consultation. He was very nice, I felt comfortable asking questions. He spent a full hour talking to me. I am a nurse so I value the respect he showed me. He is easy to understand...very very professional support staff. Overall a wonderful experience!
Dr. Raper did a friends surgery 1 year ago...he came highly recommended. The only problem I came across was having to wait almost 3 months for an appointment to meet with him. I just got insurance approval and have to wait 2 more months for the surgery...I guess since he is so good...he must be worth the wait.
Dr. Raper has a complete staff to guide through the surgical experience...support groups, srict after care plans and frequent dietary guidence. What I really like is the online support he and his staff offer patients. I live over 2 hours away from the hospital...I appreciate the convience. Dr Raper went into details describing all possible risks involved in the procedure. He was honest about his personal experience I was grateful for an honest conversation. I have alot of faith in Dr. Raper..I know he is competent I will see about bedside manner.

Excellent Surgeon and Staff
Very detailed about surgery. Didn't make promises on amounts of weight loss just realist amounts.

I highly recommend Dr. Raper. From our first meeting with him he was very kind, considerate, and respectful. He took the time to answer all of our questions and educate us about the procedure.

The only complaint I have about my experience was the nursing care at the Hospital at the Univ. of PA. It was less than caring and helpful. However, when my husband had the procedure, his nursing care was excellent.

Penn provides a support group as well as a nutrionist dedicated to the Bariatric program which is very helpful.

Dr. Raper is a very sensitive man. He was very thourough with his information and very kind in presenting it. I was concerned that I might not qualify as my bmi was only 39.2 and he was very supportive of me. I actually thought he might laugh me out of the office but he did not. He could see that i had tried everything and i was seriously tired of looking and feeling nine months pregnant for the last 16 years. I didn't see a whole lot of him (I saw him every day in the hospital) but just briefly.. there really wasn't a lot for him to say i was doing fine and really just wanted to be left alone.......

he was great........highly recommend

i did not have the perfect hospital experience however.....but i also think that some of that was unavoidable

I have just made the appt... for November!!! Dr. Colberg, also in Philly, couldn't even give me an appt! Having taken the first step, it'll be 7 months before I take the next step.

My surgeon made me feel great and let me know about the risks up front.
the staff was great and suppotive. The only problem I had with my surgeon is that he is very busy and not always available when I need him.
I did not care for the fact that they want you to see a thearpist. That was a downer but it was worth it.
