I only have a consultation with Dr Bailey on March 17th, 03. It is up to him whether he accepts me as a patient or not. We will find out then and I will update you then. I pray he does...I am running out of choices.

I saw Dr. Bailey and found him to be a very nice doctor. I got lost going to Decatur thanks to mapblast.com and will never use them again. LOL. I wound up being a half hour late and he still saw me. That does not usually happen. He was gracious and very enthusiastic. He was also very surprised I had all the tests done. Although I know I will have to update the blood and chest xray. He also suggested I may have to meet with a dietician which will be fine with me. HE does only open roux-en-y surgery. He told me that if I was looking for lap procedure I would have to go elsewhere, but I know I am not a candidate for that my bmi is too high, yet it is 2 points lower than last year. He explained everything thoroughly, the surgery I mean. Also recommended an epidural tho I have never had one I think I will try it. I am leery of anyone messing with my spine.I will ask them to deaden my broken tail bone while they are at it LOL.

All in all I am very impressed with Dr. Bailey, I even got to pick the hospital and day of my surgery. Date will be after Easter.

They will let me get my preop xray and blood work done at my local hospital which is great.

Dr. Bailey did stress the risks of this surgery and explained how they will try to avoid them.

I think he will be a great surgeon for me and for anyone else who comes to him. The hospitals are well equipped and have pulmonologists that are associated with them. This is a big issue with me since I have pulmonary hypertension. But Dr. Bailey said the bigger risk is with blood clots since there is so much done with the spleen and the stomach and all the little blood vessels and such. So I do appreciate all the considerations.

I do know he has operated on patients with fibromyalgia and lupus. So I was amazed when he accepted me with no questions except he asked me how much I have done to prepare for this and I gave him a stack of records to copy from all my consults.

I would recommend him of course.

I did have Dr. Franz Charles as my doctor, but he shut down his office with no notice, so I had to start all over again. My new doctor is Dr. Bailey in Decatur, IL and so far he is really good. I have a tentative date for March 25. Hopefully eveything goes well.

I had surgery on March 6, 2003 at ST. Mary's with Dr. Bailey. the surgery took 2 1/2 hours and it went very well. I had no complications and the hospital stay lasted 4 days. I am very happy with my recovery and Dr. Bailey is wonderful. I get my staples out two weeks from surgery.

Dr. Bailey seemed to be very nice, informative , and thorough. I already had my approval letter from my insurance prior to my first visit (Blue Cross of Illinois) and he scheduled me for Several different tests that day. That was about 2 weeks ago, and Now I have a surgery date of 03-10-2003. WOO HOO!!!

Dr. Bailey of Decatur Il was my surgeon, from the first meeting I liked him and felt that he was very knowledgable. He is not really chatty, but he tells you what you need to know and answers any questions. Upon entering the hospital for my surgery, I heard nothing but good things about his surgery ablities, from the staff. My surgery went well and my insetion looks really nice as well. I have no complaints and would recommend Dr. Bailey to anyone.

Dr. Bailey seems like a really nice doctor. His staff faxed and mailed the letter of necessity in just a few days. After having the surgery I would have to say that Dr. Bailey is a very caring Dr. that gets right to the point. I had the surgery with no complications during surgery while on my hospital stay I only had problems keeping an IV. But he was a very good Dr. and if I had to choose a dr again it would be him.. Thank you Dr. Bailey

I really was happy with him he told me about the surgery and explained what he was going to do. His office staff is really nice any time you call they help you with anything you need. He gets right to the point of getting your tests scheduled and writing the letter the insurance company.Yes he explains the risks of the surgery and the benefits. I would rate him as a great surgeon he has been really nice to me and very helpful. I will post more after my surgery it is a month from today.
I have had my surgery and I still think Dr Bailey is a great surgeon. He saw me everyday answered all of my questions. I went to his office to get my staples out and I was nervous b/c the last time I had some removed they hurt but it was fine. I enjoy talking to his office ladies they are really nice and can relate to what you are going through. I would definately recommend Dr Bailey.
