The first time that I met Dr. Wagner, I felt he was upfront. I do not feel that he \"sugar coated\" the procedure. Everyone was exceptionally nice at the doctor's office. I do not remember which lady it was but they gave me wrong directions for the seminar. I was lost, but eventually found my way. The thing about Dr. Wagner is that he really isn't interested in your day. There is no small talk in the office. It is strictly business. I do not think that is a bad quality. I would recommend Dr. Van Wagner to any one based on his professionalism. I feel that I chose a good doctor.rnrnAs far as which is better, sugical competence, beside manner or both? The answer is both. I would not have a doctor that had the bedside manner of a rattlesnake no matter how good they were. On the flip side, with out surgical competence you could die. I chose a doctor that had both!

I attended a WLS seminar where Dr. Wagner spoke, and was very impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. After having an initial consulation with him, I decided I would like him to be my surgeon. He seems to have had a lot of experience in wls, and had no problem addressing all the risks involved, as well as the amount of discipline it takes to be successful. He also emphasized the importance of aftercare. All in all, I feel like I am making a great choice, and hope to have my surgery with Dr. Wagner soon.

I think Dr. Wagner is a excellent doctor. He seems to really know what he is doing and how to best care for his patients. He is a very quiet, soft spoken man. He answers all my questions (when I remember to ask them). I do think he needs to get alittle more personable with his patients. This is a hard and embarssing decision people are making. Patients do not always know what to ask on the first visit. He should meet with them again before thier surgery. I would recommend him to anyone that asked.

Dr. Wagner is a very quiet, reserved guy. I found his seminar to be very informative. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel foolish for asking anything. His office manager, Sarah, is awesome! Without her help, I'd probably still be waiting for my approval. She knows exactly what is needed and does everything she can for you. I got my approval just four business days after she faxed it to BCBSNC. rnrnI'm glad I selected Dr. Wagner. His surgical compentence exceeds his bedside manner. He's just not a warm fuzzy guy, if that's what you're shopping for. But if you want someone who knows his stuff, he's your man.

Dr. Wagner is rather soft spoken, but very knowledgeable about the procedures he performs. He was absolutely wonderful when I had pre-surgery jitters and did a fantastic job operating on me. rnrnYou get the sense in dealing with him, that he truly cares about each of his patients. Sarah, his assistant is absolutely hands down the best I've ever met. She is always friendly, extremely helpful and does a great job making you feel comfortable. She is a lot of fun to visit with, while waiting for your appt. too.

Dr. Wagner has been wonderful. He absolutely knows everything there is to know about the surgery, the follow-up, the fills, etc. His staff (especially Sarah) is also wonderful to work with. They took care of everything with my insurance company and know the answers to all of my questions. Aftercare, bedside manner, etc - all wonderful. I'm so glad I chose Dr. Wagner. I even had to have my gallbladder removed three years after my lapband surgery and Dr. Wager did it for me - no problems again...
