Voravit Wongsa Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I had a very good first impression about Dr. Wongsa. He made me laugh and I felt like I would be in good hands. The staff is great, I made a connection with them and Karen answered any and all questions I had. Both Jackie and Karen had the surgery 2 years ago and had no complaints. I would recommend Dr. Wongsa's office and services to anyone who is looking for a doctor. Dr. Wongsa was very knowledgable and patient with my husband and I. He answered all our questions before we asked them.

After our first consultation, the "straight-forward" approach that has been so doumented on here is true. However, I must admit that even though he does have a no-nonsense approach to most of this, my wife and I were also pleased to have seen his sensitive, caring and understanding side as well. Overall, I think Dr. Wongsa has the correct approach and care I was hoping and looking for.

DR Wongsa is a great surgeon with great experience under his belt. Bedside manner need improvement but I don't deal with him enough for that to be an issue. He tells me what he expects of me and how my progression should be. Office staff is nice. Just expect for Dr Wongsa to be frank and to the point with you. He will tell you what your weaknesses are and how you will have to overcome them in order to live a productive life with a successful surgery.
My rating overall is 8/10. This is from a medical competency standpoint. Poor aftercare program, great surgical skills, fair skills preparing for surgery. He has the best surgical RN to help him durign surgery.

I am 33 and have been overweight all my life. I have thinking about having this surgery for about 3 years now. My sister-in-law had this surgery a year ago and told me wonderful things about Dr. Wongsa. I finally got the courage and scheduled my first consultation. I have an appointment on Feb. 17th. Wish me luck!

WEll I met with Dr. Wongsa and he was pretty straight forward like everyone said. My sister-in-law went with me when I had my appointment and it went really well. He was her surgeon over a year ago and it helped me, when he found out that I have watched her go through the whole surgery and the process afterwards. I am now starting to get my tests underway on the 27th of Feb. I will keep you posted.

What do I say about Dr. Wongsa? Hmmm.... His interpersonal skills need work? LOL Really, he seems like a nice enough guy. Just not my "flavor" I guess. Oh well, I'm more interested in his surgical skills than his bedside manner.

I liked him.He was very staight forward about the risk's involved.I've only had the one meeting with him and I hope to not see him again until the morning of my RNY bypass. I have talked to his staff over the phone this past month and they have been very patient with me and my demanding school schedule.Jackie and Karen both can emphasize with how I'm feeling because they to have had the procedure themselves.I believe that Dr. Wongsa is the best surgeon for me because of all the information that I've read about him on this website and the post-op patients that I met and talked to the day I went too his office.I believe he has great skill and competence as a surgeon.

He is very straight out and forward.He is very serious about your health and risks.He does'nt beat around the bush.But on the other hand he is sort of nice in his own way.
Just by the way he talk to us my fiance thinks he is is damn good doctor.He liked that about him.

i would say to new patients BE HONEST AND DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU to do, he is strict on what to eat.
and YES HE ADDRESSED THE RISK of this surgery...

I had a good first impression Of Dr. Wongsa. I knew I was looking for a skilled surgeon, not a friend that would tell me what I wanted to hear. His office staff is great!!! I had no problems with insurance or anything. He addressed all the risks of surgery and was honest in telling someone whether or not he felt that the surgery would work for them. I would rate him a 10. I have not had one complication and I am 10 weeks post-op.

His office staff is very kind and helpful. I have called them 3 times with questions since I made my appointment and they were very eager to help me. They seemed to not mind at all that I called. I met Dr. Wongsa 2-7-2003 as of then he had done 634 surgeries. I really liked him. He was very direct and somewhat abrasive at first but warmed up toward the end of my visit. If I didn't expect his abrasiveness before I went, I would've been shocked. His office staff is fantastic.
