Spoke to Dr. Peters for the first time tonight. He called from his home! The first clue that he's not your usual doctor type. Found out he doesn't like golf! Clue number two! I actually had fun (a half hours worth!) chatting with him! That's all the clues I need! What a living doll!! (I really hope he blushes when he sees this!). I'm extremely happily married so don't think I'm getting a fatal attraction kind of thing here. I'll be calling his office tomorrow to make an appointment for my first consult. I feel thinner already! :-)

Had my first consult! My two sisters and I all want to have the procedure done and Dr. Peters actually let us all do our consult together. I'm sure he didn't anticipate how out of hand three sisters can be. But he managed to hold his own and we even let him get a few words in. We were with him for two hours!! You tell me of any doctor you have ever met that not only didn't make you feel second class because of your weight but actually cares enough to spend that much time with you. I was also impressed with his technique. He was so straight forward discussing the possible risks and side effects that you would think he was trying to talk us out of it. He holds no punches in making you understand that this isn't a walk in the park and that this is really major surgery and not to be taken lightly. (See! I really was paying attention Doc!) He really wants you to make an intelligent, informed decision. Although I hate waiting, he does insist on a second consult so that you have time to read the info he gives as well as reflect on the meeting. I can't wait until next Thursday so we can begin the next step. I'll keep you posted.

5/17 Had our second consult! Asbsolutely nothing has changed! We love Dr. Peters, we love Robbie, we want it done NOW! On a personal note, thank you to all of Dr. Peters patients that I've contacted. You've all helped me to confirm that I've chosen a great surgeon and really helped me to prepare for the horrors that lie ahead! I do love how each and every one of you have no regrets regardless of the post op pain you suffered. Bring it on!!!!!!

When I first contacted Dr. Peters office i was immediately impressed by Robbie she was so friendly and then i was blown away when i called with a question and Dr. Peters answered the phone himself and was happy to answer my questions and it was if he was a "regular" guy. Not to say doctors are not regular guys he was just so nice and down to earth.
I had my consultation on 5/31/01 and i absolutely adore Robbie, It is refreshing to meet someone who is so down to earth and you don't at all feel as though they are judging you because of your size. Dr. Peters was also great, extremely straightforward and answered any questions i might have before i could think of them. LOL. It was not hard at all to realize that i will be in good hands with Dr. Peters.

I have attended a couple of support meetings
with Doctor. His attitude towards those who
do not know him or this type of surgery is
refreshing. I like him a lot. He shows true
compassion for his patients.

I have met with Dr. Peter's twice and I have stayed in touch with him through e-mail. I find him to be very friendly, personable, and probably most important caring and cautious.
His staff was wonderful and so helpful and they were just pleasant to be around. Dr. Peter's makes sure you know what to expect and wants you to make your decision on your own without and encouragement from him.
Once I made the decision, he was helpful and thoughtful as well. I am not waiting for approval from my insurance company and waiting for a date.
So far, I would highly recommend Dr. Peter's I have been imoressed so far. He is worth the 2 hour drive.

I have a date!!! I can't even begin to tell people about my experience with Dr. Peters. It is hard to believe he is a doctor. He is so wonderful and caring he reminds me of the guy next door. Every time I call him or write to him through e-mail (which is a lot) he responds personally. He calls me to keep me updated and to ask questions. We have personal conversations and he actually remembers little details that I tell him. I have never dealt with such a wonderful and caring doctor in my life and it is hard to remember he is a doctor and not a friend. I can't say enough about Robbie either, wife and office wizard. She does everything she can possibly do for me as well. These two people go above and beyond to make you feel like a part of the family, not just a patient.

I wanted to come in here to update some information about Dr. Peters and Robbie. They were kind enough to arrange for me to get all my pre-op test done at a local hospital so I wouldn't have to miss work and make another long trip to Scranton. Robbie once again went above and beyond the call of duty to make arrangements for me and my fiance to stay at the Ronald McDonald house during and after my stay. I can' not get over the generosity of these two wonderful people. I know we should not put all positive things in here and should try to even out the negative with the positive but to be perfectly honest....I haven't been able to find any negative as of yet. I will be highly suprised if I do!!!

I can finally say I am post op!!! horray I am 6 days post op and I can not lie....it has been a rough week. Even though I was fully prepared by my surgeon, and read everything I could I guess I still wasn't quite prepared for the agony. I am finally today for the first time half human and can sit at the computer. I know I have passed the test and I hit bottom and I am on my way up. The hospital (CMC in Scranton) staff was great and everyone treated me with kindness and concern. Dr Peters was great as well. He takes care of me personally with any little questions or problems I have. So far I have no complications or problems and as far as weight lose goes well I haven't even thought of the scale yet. Just getting upsatirs to take a shower is a big enough challenge today. I'll update more later.

Upon first meeting Dr. Peters he was very caring and honest...I liked him right away..and nothing has changed over a year later and I am so very thankful that I chose him for my surgery!!!His staff is the best.. efficeint, caring, and knowledgable. There really isnt anything I dont like about him. He is very honest and gets right to the point...He honestly cares about his patients, and I love that. He has a wonderful aftercare program...He was very honest about all the risks about the surgery. I rate my surgeon a 10--he gave me my life back and I will be forever thankful. I feel his surgical competence and bedside manner are the best I have ever exprienced!!!!!!!!

03-15-01 First appointment. Dr. Peter's and his wife Robbie were wonderful. They saw me as a person from the inside not for what I look like on the outside. From the moment I stepped inside the office I felt I was in good hands and I will be happy with the choice I am making. I was informed of all the pros and cons of the surgery and I feel I am making a decision that will greatly effect the rest of my life. He and his wife a very compationate and caring and I am pleased to have him and his wife taking care of me and my family.

My first impression of Dr. Peters still holds true today. I did not see him as just a surgeon who was being hired to do a job, I saw him as a person who genuinely wanted to help me.

After my surgery, he became not only my doctor but a friend. He called me at home after I was discharged to check on me and never refused my calls no matter what time it was.

His wife, Robbie, is his assistant and Office Manager. I felt that this added to the warm and understanding that his whole staff displayed towards me and my family.

The thing that I like best about "Doc" Peters was, that his was upfront on the whole procedure. He did not surgar coat any part of the operation. He made sure that I new all the risks and the complications that could occur. (I even had to take a damn test!) And appointment was made with a dietician, so that I new what to expect before, after, and during recovery. When he was shure I was adequately informed, he offered to preform my surgery.

After my surgery "Doc" made shure I was staying on track with food and vitamin intake, as well as exercise. To aid the phychological after effects, It was nice that he had a support group where I could talk to other people going through the same thing.

I would definitely recomend "Doc" Peters, and his overall program, to anyone concidering this operation.

I enjoyed meeting Dr. Peters at my first support group. He answered post op patient's issues and concerns. Dr. Peters then opened the floor to pre op and first time visitors to question him as well post op memebers. I was very impressed with him and enjoyed talking to everyone there. I saw him twice in his office and even spoke to him on the phone in the evening when I had questions. I have also attended a second support group. They meet every 3 weeks and I am looking forward to attending all of them. Everyone is so helpful and exchanges e-mails and phone numbers. The group is very supportive of each other. Dr. Peters gave me literature and web sites to read after my first appointment. I researced everything and on my second appointment, I was prepared with questions. Dr. Peters answered every one and then quizzed me. I passed with 100% correct . For the first time in my life I felt in control and understand everything that would happen. I am awaiting approval from Aetna US healthcare. We submitted last week.
