William Yates Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Willam D. Yates is a top flite surgeon.
My experience with him has been extremely
positive as well as with Dr. Kevin Mitchell
who teamed up with Dr. Yates at that time
when they performed my surgery. My health
improved greatly post operatively. Preop.
I was a severe Diabetic with fasting blood
sugars approaching 500 and severe sleep apnea
that would cause me to stop breathing about
1000 times each night according to the sleep
study done on me prior to surgery. Those two
problems resolved themselves as I lost weight.
I am now back in school preparing for a
career that otherwise I would never be able
to undertake thanks to the talent and skills
of these two fine surgeons.

Dr. Yates is a young (late 30's early 40'
s), good looking young man. I like this type for they are out of school long enough to have experience but not too old to be outdated on new medical findings.
He is very to the point about what to expect and cares about not just you in surgery but the effect this will have on your whole life afterwards. He wanted to know how my husband felt about all this. I was excited to know that he took an interest in my life not just the money he could make off of me. He really showed me he was trustworthy and caring.
His staff was very down to earth. I was expecting the clinical type of office. But what I found were photos of before and after surgery patients and a staff that make you feel at home. They talked to you as anyone would no big medical terms, no making you feel rushed so they could get out of there for the day and just very comfortable overall atmosphere.
I will let you know more about him after the surgery.

He is very professional caring did not talk down to me ie. have you tried this have you tried that etc.
So far it has not changed at all.
Office staff very friendly understanding
He is 4 hours away from me.
I would use him again in a heartbeat.
Very agressive especially with the support groups mentioned it numerous times during my stay.
Very graphic. It made me a little scared when he got done but I am glad he was up front about it.
Scale 1-10 with 10 being great!! He is a 10
I can put up with an attitude just as long as you know what you are doing.
I have no negative things as yet I have only had one post op visit.
But thats not say things won't change down the road either.

Dr. Yates seems quiet and very laid back. He listens before answering and you can tell that he thinks before he speaks. His office staff thinks very highly of him as well as the nurses at Christian N.E. I brought documents to his office with me that I used as "reminders" of questions I wanted to ask him. He made sure that I understood that this was "life changing" surgery and changed more than just how much I weighed. Aftercare is expressed continually and you can have questions answered anytime just by calling the office- someone qualified to answer your questions will call you back if the office can't answer them. Dr. Yates has protien and dietary suplements available to his patients. I decided to go through Dr. Yates office and not to use the "Weight For Life" programs help because I had a little trouble with scheduling office visits. I was very glad to see Dr. Yates after my stay in the hospital, all I wanted was to hear him say "GO HOME!" He asked me how I felt about the surgery and I was honest. He said I looked good and could expect great results. Dr. Yates is very easy to talk to and I would suggest meeting him before you decide to have the surgery with any other doctor. I requested several consulations with local surgeons before I decided on Dr. Yates.

I found Dr. Yates to be a kind, caring individual. He patiently answered my questions and came in to the hospital on a holiday (and his day off) to sign paperwork to dismiss me from the hospital when I said I was ready to go home. Southe Point Hospital was wonderful to me. All staff were extremely caring. I had a private room with a love seat that made out into a bed for my husband to stay with me. The New Start Program personnel have called me since my surgery to see how I am doing and if I have any questions or problems. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

I met Dr Yates on 9/9. He is a very caring,
attentive, and attractive black man. I was a
bit intimidated by the number of people in his
waiting room but I didn't have to wait long.
I went to his seminar on 9/16 and was disappointed
to see that it was given by his partner Dr. Mitchell
I really don't feel any more informed than I was
before the seminar. I did get a chance to talk to
a woman by the name of Adrienne who had the surgery
in March 2000 and she looks great. She made me feel
more confident about the surgery. She works with
Dr Mitchell, I recommend speaking with her she is
wonderful.

Dr. Yates is committed to helping people beat the battle with obesity. He loves his work and is a tireless advocate regarding this issue. He really understands the medical, emotional and social problems which coexist with this chronic condition. He is a highly-skilled Bariatric and Trauma surgeon, as well as having an outgoing, compassionate and objective personality.

The surgeon seemed very nice. I was a little
put off by the amount of people that they were herding through the office. I spent a
total of about 5 minutes talking to doctor, since he had so many other people to see.
I drove 5 hours to meet with him. I think if I would have known what to expect, I would not have been so disappointed.
Since it was a free consultation, they probably just try to initially meet interested parties. Hopefully in the future after my insurance has approved surgery, more one on one time will be spent discussing process.
