Dr. Yates is an extremely kind, understanding man. He is a very competant surgeon as well, and I am so pleased with his work. I would have liked to have had more information on nutrition and the support arrangement wasn't that great at the time that I had my surgery. My only complaint is that I didn't get to see my doctor but once while I was in the hospital for 5 days. I don't know what the problem was, but his partner, Dr. Kevin Mitchell, helped out there. He seems to be a good person and doctor as well. They are located at Forrest Park Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. and Christian NE Hospital, also in St. Louis. These two doctors are very well liked by all of their other patients whom I have met.

Although he was running very late, I really liked his personality and everyone in his office was friendly. The office staff was supportive and well-informed. I went to seminar he and his staff held, and found them to be really knowledgeable. I liked that they shared the negative side of the surgery and didn't glorify it as a simple procedure. They really laid it on the line that a person will have to make life long changes to be successful with the surgery. The thing I didn't like about the office, (and its minor, wouldn't stop me from going back if I find a payment source) is that they advertise having financing, but they do not finance themselves. You have to take out a loan, and they work with a particular lender. This mislead me, as I thought they had a means to finance themsselves. As I just bought a house, I did not want to go through taking out a loan again that soon.
Overall, I would feel comfortable going back to this office. I think they offer great aftercare services also.

My first impression of him was "incredible". He was very
warm, caring and willing to help me in any way to change
my life for the better. My impression of him has only
gotten better after surgery. His office staff is great
and very polite. Future patients should know that he is
a very busy man and you have to be patient.
Very concerned about after care. He let me know the risk
that I could be facing and when some came to pass he was
right there to see me through it. I would rate he overall
as a "10". Both his surgical competence and beside manner
were great.

My first impression of Dr. Yates was that he was a doctor that cared about his patients. This impression never did change over time or after the surgery. I had complications with my surgery and he was there at least twice a day checking on me in ICU. His office staff is very friendly and imformative. There is not anything i don't like about him.
Dr. Yate emphaizes structured after care he has a wonderful team working under him to answer any questions you might have. Dr. Yates did address in detail the risk of this surgery. I would rate Dr. Yates a 11 out of 10 for his surgical skills and bedside manner.

Well, it is now 3 weeks post op. and the good news is I WILL LIVE, I know that that sounds funny, but I have had complications and if it were not for my wounderful Dr. Yates, I do not know what I would have done. He has walked every mile with me, and done all in his power to get me through my rough times. I can not say enough about the man. I told him I have a very low threshold to pain, and my medication was ordered every 2 hours as needed.I have seen him twice since leaving the hospital, and even now he asks about my pain. He is just the best.

I believe that Dr. Yates is one of the nicest doctors that I've ever had the pleasure to have met. He was very compasionate and caring. He made sure that I knew all the pitfalls of WLS. He visited at least once a day when I was in the Hospital, and listen to my desires while I was there. He was very personable. I found him to be very supportive post op. A kind word and a big smile is always nice to see in an office visit!!

Dr. Yates is a very caring, positive and reassuring physician. Very impressed with him and his staff. Received excellent information, care and concern through the whole process so far. He and his staff are very caring and professional. They instill great confidence. They answered almost all questions prior to the initial interview via papers, videos and telephone conversations prior to the first pre-op visit. Dr. Yates and his associate Dr. Mitchell have great bedside manners that only enhance their surgical competence. Highly recommend them both. The only negative drawback was the hospital staff was less than desired. Hospital was short staffed and not knowledgeable as they need to be on the aftercare and regimen of the bariatric surgery patients. ex: I wanted to be allowed up and around as per Dr. Yates' pre-op directions and the staff forbid it in large part due to their not wanting to be bothered. This of course may have been due in part to a union vote that was taking place for the nursing staff at the time of my surgery and the fact that the hospital is a training hospital hospital. The dietician was very helpful however. Dr. Yates's office staff includes personnel that has had the surgery also.
