Dr. Dustin M. Bermudez, Bariatric Surgeon

Dustin M. Bermudez, MD, FACS, FASBMS is a board-certified bariatric surgeon at REX Bariatric Specialists in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Tufts University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Bermudez completed his Internship and Residency in General Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and fellowship trained on Minimally invasive/Bariatric surgery East Carolina University / Vidant Medical Center. He also completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Bermudez is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a fellow of American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) a member of the Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery (SAGES),  a member of the Wound Healing Society (WHS) and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS).

Having held several academic appointments, Dr. Bermudez is the recipient of numerous honors, awards and grants. He has authored and co-authored many highly-regarded peer reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented nationally at Scientific Conferences about weight loss surgery and wound healing.
