Barix Clinic is unique in that it treats only WLS patients. Everything is geared toward making us feel comfortable and promoting our success in our new lives.
The recovery room nurse was kind of snappy. Not what you need when waking up from anesthesia. I was groggy and of course wanting pain meds right away. There was one other nurse from the ER who was mean and irritable. She was called to come and assist with inserting a new IV in my arm and she did not seem happy about being pulled away from her patient in the ER. She told me when she came in my room that she had a patient waiting for her. I had pain from gas in my abdomen and my folely catheter was causing some pain so when she came in my room with a bad attitude and then was rough inserting the IV in my wrist I kind of got mad and my response was to cry. My other nurses were wonderful and helped with everything I needed. I was really impressed with them.
Seriously, if you're even thinking about WLS... Have it done at a Barix Clinic! If you're in the Illinois area, have it at the Northwest Suburban Community Hospital!
It was excellent. The staff is friendly and willing to take time to explain procedures. Staff very informative. Some have had the surgery.
The above comment about restfull quiet.. the only rest I got was in between BP/ temp readings, walks, breathing exercises. All very important.
