I had originally planned to use another surgeon located in the Huntsville area but saw a notice for Dr. Mailapur's arrival in Huntsville and attended one of his orientations. Following the orientation I had the opportunity to speak extensive with Dr. Mailapur and his staff. The next morning I decided to make Dr. Mailapur my surgeon of choice.

He and his staff are dedicated to the needs of the patient. He makes every effort to ensure his patients are thoroughly educated prior to the surgery. I am currently in my fourth week following surgery and have already attended my first support group meeting which is staffed and supported by Dr. Mailapur's office.

So far, I would rate Dr. Mailapur a 99.9%. I have sailed through my surgery and recovery, I believe, due to his high competence and high level of post surgery are.

My only "non-positive" comment would be that
the "Bariatric Center" portion of his office is still in the formative phases as it was only created approximately 12 months ago. He has a good team but the have not yet formulated a program for providing up to date, detailed handouts on the nutritional program, foods/recipes. etc. But, they are getting there!

Crestwood is a very clean hospital. The staff is very friendly, yet very professional. I can honestly say from the admitting office area to the next day I went home ......I was COMPLETELY satisfied with the service. The nurses are amazing there and you can actually tell they care about you and what they are doing.

My Surgeon Dr. Ravindra Mailapur of Huntsville Al is one of the greatest surgeons I have ever met. He preformed bariatric surgery on March 28th and today is April 14th and I have not had a minutes trouble.He and His staff worked together doing an outstanding job from beginning to end and met me with all my needs. Believe me a 250lb. woman this was a very hard chore for them to undertake.They worked together as one big family and not only was their treatment great, they, made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. By throughly checking me and sending me to other physicians to ckeck for any medical problems he gave me a great confidence.When a heart surgeon told me of Dr. Mailapur's success as a bariatric surgeon my heart swelled with pride I knew I had found the right person for this task. Now at 2wk. post-op I am more certain than ever. I feel great today and want to shout my joy in my newfound self to the world. Thanks Dr. Mailapur and staff for giving me a second chance at life.Wow do I feel great. Sincerly Joann Richardson

I HAD BEEN WORKIMG WITH MY FAMILY DOCTOR FOR OVER 2 YEARS TO CONTROL MY WEIGHT.MY WIFE AND I HAD TALKED ABOUT GASTRIC BTPASS AND SCHEDULED MYSELF FOR DR. MAILAPUR'S SEMINAR. IFOUND HIS WHOLE STAFF THERE HANDING OUT INFORMATION PACKETS,TAKING WEIGHT,HEIGHT AND BMI INFORMATION FOR EVERYONE TO HAVE. HIS SEMINAR WAS DETAILED AND HE DID STRESS ALL THE PROS AND CONS OF HAVING GASTRIC BYPASS USING VIDEOS,SLIDES AND MEDICAL CLIPPING.NOW THIS IMPRESSED ME!! A DOCTOR THAT WOULD GO IN TO THIS MUCH DETAIL FOR "YOU" TO DECIDE IF THIS IS FOR YOU.HIS STAFF IS WELL INFORMED AND ARE WILLING TO DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES DURING PRE OP AND POST-OP CARE.IT MAKES ME FELL "GREAT" THAT I HAVE A NEW FAMILY THAT CARES ABOUT MY WELL-BEING. DR. MAIAPUR STRESSES THAT THIS IS JUST A TOOL FOR WEIGHT CONTROL. HE SETS REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE LIFESTYLE CHANGES FOR THE REST OF YOU LIFE,THAT YOU MUST COMMIT TO MAKEING GOOD FOOD CHOICES AND BEING MORE ACTIVE TO MAXIMIZE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS. I ENJOY SEEING HIM AND HIS STAFF SONYA,CATHLINE,KAREN ANDBEV EVERY TINE I GO IN...THANKS I GIVE DR.MAILAPUR AND STAFF AN A+.

Dr. Mailapur is a very thorough, compassionate, caring, and extremely skilled surgeon. He is a great listener and answers all questions!! His bedside manner is attentive and caring! His program is extremely well organized, structured, and dedicated to the success of each individual patient. He goes into detail the risks and benefits of the surgery.

Dr. Mailapur's office staff are on the absolute best! They go the extra mile in everything they do! They are always happy to see you, help you, and are extremely versed in the entire process from insurance to helping with your post-op aftercare.

We have monthly group sessions featuring speakers on a variety of topics that pertain to wls issues. Dr. Mailapur attends our group meetings which shows even further dedication to his patients!

Dr. Mailapur's surgical expertise/skill/talent cannot be matched.

Out of my total 23 day stay, I had 3 nurses I did not like (2 of which I requested to be removed from my care). Also the cafeteria staff was quite dense.

Dr. Foreman was very professional. His staff was professional and friendly. He addressed all the risks. Aftercare was not as I expected, basically after your two-week checkup you don't come back for a year. Surgical competence is far greater than bedside manner.
