Good Samaritan Hospital

The nursing staff in the Rehabilitation units were great. They were responsive and very supportive. The physical therapy department was great as well. It was a lot of hard work but it paid off. I am walking, talking, and breathing. I have progressed to the point where I only have to conquer going up stairs like I used to.11/27/05 Now post op for two years I am still not back to normal. I can go up stairs but not easily as I used to. It's been a tough road but I'm getting there slowly.

I found Good Sam to be very accomodating to the bariatric patient. Larger sized chairs were available in waiting rooms, and I was given hospital gowns during my stay that were HUGE on me. A nice touch was the "bariatric bed" that I was put into after surgery. Made getting out of bed post-op so much easier!! Now the only downside...parking was horrible according to my visitors. However, the hospital is in the midst of a MAJOR building project (adding 2 new towers), so the parking nightmare is only temporary.

The nursing staff was great! I never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for anything. One of the nurses wasn't aware of the diluted juice thing-but she thanked me for letting her know. They have special "bariatric" beds, which are much easier for us to use than typical hospital beds. All around a really good hospital stay.
